Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

ive found that i get more satisfaction from starting with a club in the lower leagues and bringing them up does anyone else agree?

is there any way to decrease the amount of transfers in fifa12? here in my career mode is the handling of very large players and the game loses some of its reality.

No. You can reduce the amount during the first transfer window though. Search this thread for how, I posted it before a couple of times :)

Yes, but then I have no choice as the team I support is in League1 currently ;)

Just had an epic match with Arsenal in F.A. Cup against Bristol Rovers.
Bristol scored the lead in the 15th minute and after that defended with
11 men. I just ran onto a pure defensive wall. 20 minutes before the end
I subbed Van Persie in, actually I wanted to rest him but now I needed him.
Still didn't manage to score and Bristol cleared the ball off the line for
two times but in the 93th Van Persie scored the equalizer for the rematch
at the Emirates :)

Nice, both getting the result to have the rematch and the fact that a small club scored and turned really defensive.

Too bad you have another match in your schedule now, you'll have to be careful with your players' energy.

Do you guys rotate a lot or keep the same 11? How do you cope with the least used players morale? I'm having a hard time keeping my 3rd RB happy (he's 30) and a couple of youngsters that aren't good enough to play that often yet.

...even when I can afford to rotate a lot, like I said a couple of post back.

Considered to buy him in Winter, too, but I tried to sign Nathaniel Clyne,
Mikael Lustig or Danny Simpson as cover for right back but every club
didn't want to sell them :(

Ju-Young Park scored 4 goals but the
player of the match was Ramsey who gave 4 assists and scored this lovely goal on his own

What was Ramsey's rating in the end of that match then?!? He must have been amazing besides the assists and that goal to get the award instead of Park...

can anyone reccomend a good centre mid for 5m or under?

Hateley is worth 5m in 2014, 77 overall, I haven't had any problems in that position so far with him, and I initially had bought him as a sub, with Zuculini intended to be the starter, but I think Hateley is a better passer of the ball, and faster, which is something that I need for my style...I wanted Zuculini to be my Xabi Alonso, but I guess I'll stick with speed for the moment.

Wow, I (first place Man United) just got walloped 5-0 at Stamford Bridge. They had a fully fit squad but I was missing Marchisio, Rooney, Anderson, and Nani. I was desperate so sign another midfielder in the January transfer window as Marchisio is injured every other week, but I needed to sell Hernandez (useless in my formation) first. Couldn't sell him till the penultimate hour of deadline day, and although I had my bid for Schweinsteiger accepted it was too late to sign a contract!

Just broke the bank to sign Mats Hummels for $40M to really bolster my defense not just for now but for the foreseeable future. :PIRATE:

It all happened so quickly too just like real life. What happened is I got a really tempting offer from Newcastle who were desperate to land their #1 target Diego Godin (My best CB who I was NOT planning on selling) and even captained my side for most of last season for $22M when his value is something like $13M.

My first instinct was to reject this just like the prior offer. But then I chose to 'stall' it while I search the market to see if I can IMPROVE my team by signing an even better player. Godin is a good solid defender and at only 26 and rated 81 and one of my better players, NOT someone I wanted to lose unless I can get someone even better.

I had about $25M transfer budget which I hadn't spent having sold a lot of deadwood earlier on and so I saw that I can go for one of the world's best in 87 rated Hummels who is maybe the closest thing to the modern version of Beckenbauer and can still get a lot better even. He's got Strength, Aerial threat, Tackling and technician special stars! The complete defender really! So went and sold Godin to Newcastle, put in a big offer for Hummels to make sure I get him and then offered him a fat $200K per week contract which he simply couldn't reject! :D

Am really excited to use him now in this 2nd season and hopefully get Atletico that CL spot this year.

I left Ronaldo (who is homesick) out of my next match against bottom side Levante. Not because of that - I rotated the entire squad as 2 bigger games were up next.
It was quite interesting though, as the commentators discussed the media reports about him being homesick, and that I'd left him out so he wouldn't disrupt the team.
Mind you, he did score a double in a MOTM performance in the next game (one being a stunning 25 yard volley), so he can't be that distracted!

I noticed a couple of other nice touches in the commentary and thought I'd share:
- In a CL game against PSV, they mentioned how admirable it was that one of their players was playing on his birthday.
- As I have a crazy salary budget (£700k+) I decided to offer all players with less than 2 years left an improved contract. A couple declined, wanting more. One of these was my CB Sakho. He played in the following game, and again the commentators discussed it, mainly saying that as he was playing he would need to prove that he's worth it.
He played again in the next game, and it was mentioned again. This time it was about the fans fearing that he might be leaving before his contract is up. He has 18 months to go, so sure a few extra pennies will bring him round. If not, I'm sure he can be replaced :)

Was that Tyler/Smith or Tyledsley/Townsend? I have it set to default so I get the secondary commentary team for cup matches which mixes things up nicely but I do wonder if I'm missing out on the more in depth commentary for the tournament as the 2nd commentary is quite rudimentary, they don't talk about the players or the tournament etc etc, it would be nice to hear things like "they need a point here to win the group" or such...

Ah, good question! It was in one the games I played last week, and tbh I'm not 100% sure...
I've also got it set to default commentary, but have an inkling it might have been Martin Tyler, so could actually have been a pre-season game. I'll check my CM fixtures tonight & let you know. It was during my current campaign, so should be able to narrow it down :)

I seem to remember that the alt commentary is also used for pre-season friendlies, although that could be random, or the failings of an old memory ;)

So I finished my 1st CM season with Liverpool, ending up being League and FA Cup winners!

With 5 games to go it was really tight, with City 2 points ahead. However both teams started to fall apart unjury wise with my other CB (after Carra, Skrtl and Coates were out for 3 months) Kelly also getting injured and missing the rest of the season. For city it was the opposite side of the team, with Aquero, Tevez, Nasri and Silva all pickung up injuries and missing the run-in.

Fortunately for me I could cope with a weakend defense by playing a more compact defensive game and relying / hoping fresh fast attacking subs could nick a goal in the last 20 min to win 1-0. It worked and I managed to finish 3 points clear in the end. However Carroll got injured, going for a diving header against Chelsea both CB's fell on him and he broke his tailbone. Out for 5months!
Top 6 were;
Liverpool
City -3pts
Utd - 6pts
Spurs
Arsenal
Chelsea

During this period I had a semi final with Villa. A week after beating them 1-0 with a late goal so I knew I was in for a tough time! Very few chances, with the first half especially cagey. Not much was happening with the end of the match drawing near. Then in the 80th odd minute their defender collided with Carroll and went down injured....he is now out for 7 months! But that weakend their defense, and with ET coming I decided to swap Carroll for Bellamy. in the 100th min. Bellamy, as he has done all season, made the difference with a tidy goal to win the match 1-0.

With the league wrapped up it was time for the final.....against Everton. Match started like a local derby, with both teams going for it with aggressive defending and fast attacks. However neither managed to score. After about 30min. the game calmed down a bit with Liverpool starting to pass it about more and keep possesion. Bellamy managed to dribble past two players in box and score the only goal in the 2nd half to win the cup.

I now have 22mil + 16mil for the league + whatever I got for the FA Cup to spend. I'll be trimming my squad as I have reached it's limit with the huge amount of players on loan (about 15!). So I will be trying to sell the likes of Aquilani, Cole, etc and look for some reinforcement in attack. Bellamy can't have much longer to go, Stevie has dropped back to CM and Carroll will miss the first 3 months of the season, again. He was just starting to find his feet aswell and was scoring some good goals. Defense might need another look at, as Carra can't go on for long and Aurelio is injured a lot.

I also have some very good youngsters who I want to promote to the first team but can't atm.

He's only gone up one point overall for me (February 2012) but even now he's excellent. Good dribbling, strength, passing, and shooting.

hes already 79 or 80?

whats good overall rating anyway? i never take much notice? whats messi and c.ronaldo? like 92 or something

Check the link posted by Andr3, you'll understand better the overall values by looking at famous players like Messi and Ronaldo like you said.

I think Messi is 94 and Ronaldo 92, or something like that.

Overalls mean less in this Fifa than any Fifa to date, my team has an average of about 74 these days and my best player when on form is Alexander Büttner who is 69 now. He's an LB who can play at LM, he plays LW for me and I signed him from Vitesse for something like £480,000 excellent shot, good at free kicks, good crosser, fast, good dribbler. Last season in the premier league he ended up with something like 15 goals from the wing and roughly the same amount of assists :)

Paul - I checked my fixtures last night, and it the commentary about a birthday was during a pre-season game with Schalke. Can't remember who the player was, but I checked footballsquads.co.uk and there are several Schalke players with a birthday around that time.

I had a message from Ronaldo confirming that he's homesick (can't use image hosting sites at work so will upload the screen when I get home). He hasn't decided if he wants to leave yet, so fingers crossed he'll stay...
Sakho is getting on my nerves though. He blabbed to the media that he'd consider staying if he's offered even more money. Apparently a £40k raise isn't enough... Anyway, he's just picked up a 3 week knee injury so he can think it over until he's fit again!
