Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

I got to 2013, still with Leeds, managed to win the FA Cup against Chelsea, suffering with a 2-2 draw in full time, and a goal in the 1st extra time to make it 3-2.

The season ends, I stay with them, check the Squad to see what I'll need for the new season, Beckham isn't there anymore, he had like 3 years of contract so that's not it, I look for him in the transfers thingy but nothing, he retired, and none told me anything about it, that SUCKS.

ok, i know it is not a big deal, but what is with the boots from the youth squad? they are all the EA boots - anyone see nike, addidas, or the commercial boots?

just finished year one, and this has been a great year for FIFA. immersion is incredible. game play is a lot of fun, if not that varied. but the injuries and player demands make this so much fun. but it really is still playing in a vaccum. i love it, just being honest. maybe their is variety, but not seeing it. might just be me.

as soon as we get more dynamic CPU team management and in game management, this will be off the charts.

Placebo, do you know if it's okay to edit teams starting 11 and not have it mess up your current CM's?

So I'm not talking about formations or custom formations or anything like that but there are players like Igor Akinfeev whom I've noticed are on the bench in the game! I wanna replace some players with more correct choices just in terms of starting 11 before I start my new CM mode as a 'player'. But I'm scared it might mess up my current CM mode with Atletico.

Actually come to think of it, another similar question I have is whether you think it's safe to edit 'custom tactics' of teams? Because I wanted to start a CM mode as a player with Marco Reus of Monchen Gladbabach but noticed despite the team having no fast strikers and two target men like (Hanke and de Camargo) , their 'crossing' rating in Custom tactics is nowhere near where it should be. I wanted to know if it's safe to edit that or if it might mess things up and thought you might know...

TBH I would be very wary of anything like that, it might be safe for a 100 edits then one day boom it just messes everything up, if you have a flashdrive or two laying around it might be safer to copy all the files for your Atletico CM to flashdrive and run it from there and have your other CM run from a different flashdrive (or the HDD).

I edited a few players while playing my CM, doesn't take effect of course which bothers me. Would like the appearance changes to take effect, so I can get rid of the EA boots on every team in the championship :P

I'd like that too, specially since 2 of my starting players have the awful as hell orange EA boots.

Second season with Malaga under way. Sold Baptista and loaned out young striker Juanmi. The transfer deadline day was dramatic with me selling Toulalan at the last hour and bringing in Tioté as a replacement. Other new signings are a young german goalkeeper for the future. Aurier, a young RB from Lens. Lucio to strengthen my defence. Vela to add some speed up top. And the biggest signing, Honda! He has been amazing so far scoring a brace in his first home game. Next game is the Euro League premiere, Auxerre at home.

Paul, I don't have a flash drive around but it's okay I've decided I'm just not gonna mess with things for now and leave them as they are. Thanks.

Ozkar, Who's the young RB from Lens?

And you sold Toulalan!!!? How could you?!!? Lol How much $? Must have been a tempting offer!

No not really. Just felt I wanted more power in midfield and Tiote is a beast! :) Got 10,5 for Toulalan I think.
I really like how you can raise your contract offers this year and make the player change their mind. Tiote turned my first two offers down saying he was happy at Newcastle, but when I offered 105k a week he was on his way :)

The RB from Lens is Aurier.

I see. Aurier is very promising apparently in real life and rated highly. Haven't had the pleasure of seeing him play myself yet though.

Yeah I really like that as well. I like Tiote a lot but I'm an even bigger fan of Jeremy. So unless he performs poorly for me (Perhaps his performances in 1st season were mediocre for you?) I wouldn't sell him. I think he's a very accomplished player and still has many great years ahead of him yet so vastly experienced already.

Same here, never seen him play. Will play him in the cup to see what he is made of.

Actually he performed quite well for me. But when I got that bid I decided to sell. And since Tiote is a personal favourite I have no regrets :)

What position did they finish last year?

And any interesting recruits (not by you but previous manager) or notable departures from original squad?

So has anybody else taken full advantage of the customisable leagues in CM? I set up a 4 tier structure using the English leagues with teams from around the world. The Prem having the best teams, NPower Championship having decent teams and so on. I'm in League 2 with New York Red Bulls at current. All of the teams i took out are dotted around the world randomly, i could have sorted them out in a more orderly way but it would have taken longer and i wanted to get into CM ASAP. I'm sure the only thing it'll affect is the Champions League equivalent but i'm in League 2 so i don't need to worry about that.

Going to ask again: how do you customize leagues in CM like this? Is this on a PC? Anyone?

It doesn't seem to be possible using Creation Centre, which I've had nothing but frustrating experiences trying to use. The web app is slow on my brand spanking new ThinkPad laptop, sometimes freezes no matter which web browser I use, and then last night every time I tried to use my created teams in the game, my xbox locked up and I had to restart.

I had purchased the premium editing packs with hopes of creating a team to use in CM but now I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. Anyone with good experiences using a created team in CM?

I've downloaded full Ukrainian league into my FIFA on PC. No hassle, no problems, smooth as butter.maybe consoles are FINALLY starting to show their age? :-)

Sitting in 5th place now with Forest, 2 points out of 3rd, 9 out of second. Into the Semi Final of the FA cup, had a 4-4 game with Villa then 2-1 in the replay, got 500k from the board for it.
Having trouble getting wins in the league though, 1-1 draws and late 2-2 draws seem to be normal lately.

I believe someone asked if injuries pile up at the end of the season, and I think so. Derbyshire has been injured three times, first a knee injury, heals, then an ankle injury, heals, then a bruised shoulder!
My midfield keeps getting small injuries like this as well. Sold Blackstock back in January, was never happy and kept getting messages about him wanting to leave. He also just stopped scoring lol. Bought a Korean Cho Dong Geong I think, who has been an amazing buy. Also got Kljestan from Anderlecht, who I don't like much but he's playing well.

Brought up two youth players, both are really small (Do they grow?) and only 15 I believe, but the only one I've played so far (A german LW) has played fairly well. He can't make a tackle and is easily knocked off the ball, but he can pass decently and has great shot accuracy.

what difficulty you playing?

Im on pro but with sliders adjusted winning most games.

No idea, I don't really know much about their team.

They don't have many high rated players and they want a mid table finish, sounds good to me!

I am into my 2nd season as Liverpool boss, and all in all i'm not doing to bad domestically, but in europe I have fallen to pieces in the Champions Cup. Currently bottom of group H in the Champions Cup and I have 2 games left to turn it around. If I lose my next Champions Cup game to Atletico Madrid and Bayern Leverkusen do the probable of beating the other team in my group (can't remember their team name) then it will be lights out for me and I'll have to go to that other team in my group and get a win just to qualify for the Euro League! If I don't beat Atletico and can't sneak into the knockout stages of the Champions Cup I might just deliberately lose my final game so I don't have to have my schedule clattered with pointless Euro League games. Domestically my form has been a lot better thanks largely to Luis Suarez's form scoring 13 goals so far in the season and placing me top of the table, 1 point ahead of Chelsea in 2nd and only 2 points ahead of Man United in 3rd. In the League Cup I didn't really take it seriously and could be described as quite lucky to get as far as I did before being knocked out in the 4th round. The FA Cup has yet to begin but I think I will take that competition seriously as the board do want me to win a Domestic Cup (they also want me to reach the final of the Champions Cup, but hey! lol). In the Community Shield I lost 4-1 on penalties thanks to Joe Hart saving my 1st,2nd and 4th penalties.

1st team squad (does change from game to game):

--------------------------Reina---------------------------------
-Johnson-------Carragher-----------Pique-----------Enrique-------
-Krasic-------Gerrard(C)---------Alonso------------Downing-------
--------------Suarez----------Llorente---------------------------

Bench: Doni, Kelly, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Bellamy, Carroll.

Current managerial honours:

Premier League winners: 2011/12

FA Community Shield runners-up: 2012/13

Career mode is definitely a lot harder this year as you have to balance your squad to keep everyone happy and to be honest, i'm really enjoying the challenge :D

Loving my first season with Newcastle, started poorly but dragged myself up the table and am properly entrenched in a mid-table stalemate of a season. Sounds dull but is satisfying having spent a good portion of the season in the relegation zone.

Player morale has a massive effect I've noticed. Poor Guthrie was very low on morale in a cup match due to rarely playing, but I threw him into the team and I did notice he was the only one to miss a penalty in the shoot out. Went out to Everton, but then got my own back a week later in the league with a 3-2 win at St James' Park - 2-0 down at half time, I got three second half goals to come back, the last being an 89th minute Ben Arfa header stooping at the far post between two CB's twice his size :P

Have a big injury list though, Obertan is out for 5 months with a broken leg, Cabaye has ruptured knee ligaments and is out for 4 months, and Piazon, my loan signing from Sao Paulo, is out for a month thanks to a brutal tackle.....

Thanks to selling off a lot of unwanted squad players I now have a safe mid table season, and the prospect of £18M to spend in the January transfer window.

Any suggestions for top young talent? All the well known ones are too expensive!

Oh, and has anyone seen anything happen with their youth academy yet? So far I haven't invested in it but am considering pumping money into that rather than splashing on players.

Finished my first season, took second 11 points behind West Ham, 1 point ahead of Portsmouth who sit in 3rd. Gained promotion and ended up with 15m.
Won my FA Cup Final against City, somehow. I scored first on a turn and shoot from just outside the box with Derbyshire, and somehow had more of the ball in the first half. Start of the second half they came at me fast, eventually Dzeko scores in the 70th minute off an unstoppable header and I have to continue to soak up pressure.
In stoppage time with 3 minutes added on I get a break with Boateng after a botched City corner, Milner is the only one back and makes a desperate and terrible tackle. Boateng through to goal with Derbyshire off to his right, I run out to the wing a bit, put some power on a pass just as Hart starts coming out (Why! I'm not that close) and the ball skips over to Derbyshire who smashes it in.
After the kickoff City doesn't get a shot off, my midfield was cutting off everything, it was crazy!

Trying to sell a few youth players off, I have some rated around 60 with 80-90 potential but I need money to get some proven players in. My goal for the second season is to avoid relegation, which will be hard. ALthough I did beat Vill and City in the FA cup.

They still have Lafita right? Nothing special but good player with very good technique though not very fast.

As for where they finished, I believe it shows the position they finished at end of season when you were about to accept their job offer but you probably don't remember anymore.

Anyway, good luck. Curious to see how you do. The Zaragoza default squad is definitely good enough to avoid relegation and finish up to about 12th but not much more than that unless properly invested in.

Anyone seen any strange league positions for big clubs? I'm in my 3rd season and Tottenham seem absolute certainties to go down, their squad is in disarray:

Their best goalkeeper is a 44 Ovr 17 year old, Gomes was sold and I guess Friedel and Cudicini retired as I couldn't find them.

When I played them their best forward was Harry Kane who is IIRC mid 60s OVR, he went off injured against me and they had to bring on the CB Kaboul to play up front!

Of course I ended up losing the match against them 2-1 with the kid in goal having a blinder, but it was one of their first wins of the season and it's already January.

am only seeing a few teams like stoke and everton make big buys after getting bought out by saudi prince types.

all in, i can't believe how great CM is... still want the dynamic management AI, but besides that it is awesome. I just went through a run in December-Jan when I had games almost every 3-4 days (league, cup, and europe). after losing song, arteta, and ranocchia for 3 months, i was incredibly thin on depth. it really changed how i approached the transfer window... bought depth at center and back.

the injuries and fatigue alone make this engaging... throw in players asking for playing time or rest and its a real challenge.

two things that would be great for realism... of course the international calls up and fatigue that comes with that. but also, guys being cup tied. maybe buying for a discount given that situation...

how great is it not to have games on the same day anymore??

I was about to complain that the fixtures had fucked up and I had to play 2 matches in 3 days, then I realised the 2 days were December 24th and December 26th, oops ;)
