Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

Beat Ipswich on penalties in the League Cup ... and drawn against Man City in the quarter finals

I probably wont win that 3-0 then!

1. Almost every pass seems to be telepathically intercepted. You pass to a player in space, and during the time the ball takes to get there, an AI defender sprints and runs in front of you, even if you try and run your receiver of the pass to the ball before the AI gets there.

2. The AI scores almost every single shot they take.

3. The AI scythes through your players and they repeatedly bounce off the AI like they're the Hulk.

Yea I started mine on World Class, still playing on that level too, but I notice this a lot. Not so much the pass thing, but the AI really does just cut through your defense with ease. And most standing tackles don't actually dislodge the ball, they just knock it a few feet away and the computer out muscles you to the free ball.
It is very very hard to actually win a well timed tackle, in my opinion. The AI is able to make an instantaneous cut even if you wait wait wait and then tackle. And this switches off and on, I've had games where I just can't miss a tackle, but then games where a 60 overall is just Messi'ing the shit out of my defense.

I've switched to only containing in the midfield areas now, and I only really press attackers in the final third, I can't seem to win a ball in the midfield anyway. But this leaves me trying to wait and block shots and the computer easily cuts away to get a free shot so it's a matter of luck.

I just lost 5 in a row, scoring a goal each game but giving up at least two in each. I totally didn't know about morale (newb) and everyone is at 50% except blackstock who is at about 30 (Doesn't like being listed?).
Every players form is about the same as well. Finally got a win but did not check for any improvements on anything yet. Rough season so far, supposed to win promotion but I am currently mid table and knocked out of the cup.

I don't have all these problems :) I NEVER use Contain.. I use Jockey to defend and I can close the CPU down and they never really gets in to my penalty box! So maybe it is just you guys, who just isn't good enough ;) (Said with a bit of sarcasm..)

Harsh but true! ;)

If I'm just a 'manager' (I play the games, but I mean my VP isnt involved), then is there the chance to move clubs during your career?

Move clubs as a manager you mean? As in become manager of a new team? If that's what you mean, Yes.

Max Power has gone out on loan.

anyone? :D

Yea so if you do well, do you get approached by other clubs to become their manager? Really hope so as that really used to bug me in ml that you got stuck with one club.

I'd like to start low down and as become successful move onto bigger clubs.

I've been getting emails from the chairman saying that my manager level has increased and that he hopes I'll stay with Tranmere rather than go to a different club.

Yeah you get job offers at the end of the season, for the first time ever I have got offers from other countries, at the end of the 2nd season when I got Wednesday into the Premier league I had offers from Birmingham (EPL), Nurnberg, a lesser L1 French club and a lesser SA Italian club.

Hope they are more appropriate this year. Last year, as Liverpool manager, I would always get Utd offered to me (which could have been amusng if I had gotten them relegated) and some lowrent Italian Serie A side....I was CL, EPL and FA cup winner at the time!

Just ended my first season with Malaga. Finished fifth and qualified for Euro League. Not sure what to do next, I have offers from Schalke and Roma who both finished fourth so they will play Champions League football. On the other hand the Malaga board has given me a massive £59.000.000 budget! Have made two saves so might go back and chose Roma :) Tough call...

If Schalke finished 4th, they won't play CL buddy. 3rd place gets CL in Germany, not 4th. They are a massive club though of course and it could be a good challenge.

Roma does sound tempting indeed but then again your Malaga project is unfinished. 5th is a good place finish and with the nice squad you have and all the investment you need provided by the ambitious board, maybe you're better off staying and trying to challenge for title or at least get this team into CL And develop the players you've bought further.

Ah my bad. That means no Schalke for me :)
Yes I think I will stay with Malaga. It would be sad leaving them after only one season. Euro League will be lots of fun too. Now I need to think about transfers. Flamini has been good but he is injured way to often, he missed 6 months this season. Thinking about selling Joaquin as well. Nistelrooy decided not to hang up his boots so no real need to buy a striker.

Must say I really love FIFA this year. I have never played any FIFA for this long, usually gets bored after a week. But CM this year is fantastic with CPU teams finally playing differently.

Stay with Malaga on my first season i come 4th second season i won Champions league and Spanish Cup.

Third season i won treble so its worth sticking with team until get trophy at least.

I only use contain, I just don't know sometimes, it seems I have the AI locked then bam instant cut. I haven't tried on professional because I played professional in the demo/early release and it was just way too easy.

Playing on Professional with Placebo sliders well it wasnt easy at start i struggled first season but as i built up quality team its become alot more easy.

Not sure wether to go up to world class or not im afraid the AI will do its twisty turn rubbish and be impossible to play against.

I was playing on professional with my promoted Leeds team and beating Chelsea, Manchester United etc and was sitting in 2nd place after like 10 games. Didn't seem at all realistic so I bumped up to WC and it made a huge difference.

Got blasted 4-0 by Man City and Arsenal, and 3-1 by Tottenham. But beat West Brom, Sunderland and tied someone else and now sit at around 12th spot. The defending is a bit harder, just need to be more patient.

Does changing your players workrate and saving it as a custom formation make your CM crash? Read earlier about people altering with custom formations and they ended up with squads full of goalkeepers etc.

It can yes, it's a bit random though, I have edited my formations to change things such as workrate etc and so far been ok, I keep two ongoing manual saves + the three automatic saves and at the first sign of trouble I would quit and try loading one of those. Certainly editing the team's formation outside of CM in the main menu or deleting the squad file can mess your CM team up very quickly so definitely avoid those.

Ok thanks. Not sure if it's worth the risk. The thing is I have Honda as CAM but he keep droping to low all the time, he is in my own half most of the time.

On another note it seem very hard to get your bench players sold. Have just bought Lucio and Vela and want to send young striker Juanmi out on loan and get rid of à couple of grumpy defenders complaining all the time.

whats best formation to create chances,

Im leeds on pro

I played 4-3-3 and made 10 shots on goal away to burnley

next game I tried my favourite old pes formation

3-5-2 with 2 attacking mids, 1 def mid and 2 wide midfielders.

---------------------- gk-------------------------

-------------def--------def-------------def----------

--------------------dm-------------------------

rm-----------------------------------------lm

--------------am----------am----------------

--------------cf-----------cf---------------

Anyway i play at home to doncaster and have only 3 shots on goal wtf!???

this formation was beast on old PES.

so What to play for fifa?

4-3-3 means only 1 centre forward and not much support in middle of park

4-4-2 seems better

But I made a lot off chances on 4-3-3

3-5-2 was murder?

So has anybody else taken full advantage of the customisable leagues in CM? I set up a 4 tier structure using the English leagues with teams from around the world. The Prem having the best teams, NPower Championship having decent teams and so on. I'm in League 2 with New York Red Bulls at current. All of the teams i took out are dotted around the world randomly, i could have sorted them out in a more orderly way but it would have taken longer and i wanted to get into CM ASAP. I'm sure the only thing it'll affect is the Champions League equivalent but i'm in League 2 so i don't need to worry about that.

How do you customize the leagues? With Creation Centre?

I'm now entering my second season, after gaining promotion from npower 2 to npower 1, but I'm wanting to start over with a different team - not happy with my team's kit options!

Also, I'm tired of bringing in players only to find them outfitted with gross EA generic boots, so I think I'm going to spend some time editing players.

Think I might make a team in Creation Centre - anyone done that yet?

Got to the League Cup quarter finals with Tranmere, drawn against Man City. Drew 2-2 and beat them on penalties ... and the board just give me £10k! Bloody hell, thought I might've gotten a bit more there.

formation you using?

sacked as lfc boss.

reaching league cup final and losing. finishing 13th in prem. not good enough.

Liga BBVA awaits with Zaragoza for season 2

Just went 6 games unbeaten. 5 wins 1 draw, some of the games were absolute blowouts. Now sitting 3rd in the league a point out of first. My two strikers have combined for a ridiculous amount of goals, they sit 1/2 in the goal standings. Starting to keep clean sheets as well, so somethings working for me.
I still can not get Blackstock's morale up, he's sitting at about 30% or so, while everyone else is getting happier, for the most part, he stays there.

I've been playing as Newcastle again, as a player manager, and using the high number of CM games to build up my virtual pro who I've managed to get looking eerily like myself...! I'm controlling the whole team with my VP just as another player.

Anyways, it's tough playing a 68 rated striker, but great fun.

I started on World Class again and got my ass kicked, three defeats and 10 goals conceded before dropping it down to Professional. Since then I've drawn three, including losing a 90th minute equaliser at Villa thanks to a long range Darren Bent strike, but then battled to a draw at QPR, scraped past Bradford in the League Cup, then finally recorded my first win 1-0 at home to Blackburn. Goals are really hard to come by, even on Professional, but defending is far better. I don't score many, I don't concede many either. But then I haven't played any of the top teams yet......

I've offloaded a ton of youngsters on loan with a hope of them developing with first team football, sold a few fringe players and signed Flamini from Milan for £4.7M on transfer deadline day, and signed Piazon on a season long loan from Sao Paulo with a view to making it permanent. That deal was done as recommended on here by Bingham67!
