Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

Doing a career with barca as a side-career. Messi wanted to leave and had to sell him for 180.000.000 euro!

Well Career Mode abandoned. Can't be arsed with this shit, the game in CM changes the way the AI plays compared to friendlies just as in FIFA11 and the AI uses every old school FIFA exploit in the book;

Defenders telepathically reading passes.
Defenders smashing through the back of your player.
Any 50/50 challenge results in your player falling over.
Any AI clearance lands bang onto the foot of a lone striker, even if he's about 50 yards away.
Every AI long shot it takes, seems to go in.
I noticed the AI was passing at 100mph and with near perfection. So I ramped up passing error to 80, and it made absolutely no difference. Even Bolton passed it with Barcelona style precision, in the rain. Whereas my players misplaced passes all over the place. Shows how scripted the AI is in CM.

It's bullshit. I also notice that whenever I score a goal, the AI seems to magically come back and score another within 20 seconds of the kick off. Several times I've comfortably held a team to a 0-0, scored in the last few minutes, then watched as the AI conspires to score within seconds every time. Once, from a 35 yarder out of nowhere, another from a header after the AI hounded my players down and they all bounced off the AI like skittles until they got into my penalty area. It's pathetically scripted on World Class, too easy on Professional.

And what's with every AI player suddenly moving at lightning speed just in CM? It's like every AI team in CM is playing on crack or something.

I'm playing a CM as Leeds in Professional, 2nd season now, finished 2nd in the npower league in the 1st, got promoted and doing pretty good in the Premier League, I even managed to win 1-0 against Liverpool.

For this season I bought Khumalo (O'Dea's loan finished, couldn't get him) and Beckham (age 37...)

One thing I don't understand, how does Lloyd Sam expect to play more (he is unhappy) when my other strikers are better than him, and I can't get him to perform on the flanks?

He asks me to play, and I feel kinda sorry for the guy, but he's not good enough...

I have a couple of youth players with potential of 91 but their overall are from 50-60 how am I suppose to built their potential if noone wants get a loan on them and they are just not good enough to put them on the field.

Anyone have any tips on how to develop them??

It seems that's going to take 5 or more seasons to reach their potential. Is it even worth it?

Too lazy to tinker with the sliders but more than eager to post the wrongs about gameplay?

Too lazy to look at his post history? He's probably spent as much time as anyone tinkering with sliders.

Actually, as you think sliders can fix everything if you're not too lazy to tinker with them, how can we make the CPU foul more? I can't seem to find a slider for that.

Put them on the bench and give them minutes regardless of their rate. I have found that low rated players with good prospects tend to perform above their expected rates - this has changed with respect to 11 IMO. I have played with a team full of talent not exceeding 60 and winning Real Madrid and Barcelona in World class - motivation in the press conference seems to do the trick in my case. Good luck!

Continuing my Liverpool career I'm in the top 3 atm and doing really well. Suarez went out injured for 3 months but Andy was finally back and after some sub min. I decided to start him. He managed to get two assists in the first half, showing strength and laying the ball off to both Gerrard and Kuyt for the goals.....sadly his strength isn't very apparent when jumping for headers as he collided with an opposition player and went down....3 weeks out! Didn't even manage a full 90min.! He hasn't even managed one full match this season, and we are in november!

Bellamy is doing well, but he's a cheeky bugger, everytime he scores he starts up about his form and how he thinks he should be starting! But being joint top scorer at the club and 2nd for the golden boot he has a point. Skrtl and hsi agent keep going on about settling in, he will be off in Januari with the commentators predicting as much. Carra is creaking and Agger get's injured so it will be quite an overhaul in the summer. Glen is moaning about the poor management, but really it's because Kelly just offers more protection. Playing against a weaker side I put Johnson in instead to give him some minutes, and played Skrtl aswell to put him in the shop window. The difference between Johnson and Kelly is huge, Johnson is really poor keeping his defensive position with the CB always having to come over to cover (or Lucas) yet he's always running forward and looking for space which is great. Think I'll start swapping them aroung depending on the opposition.

Oh and I'm looking for another LW, Downing is solid, but doesn't really offer much. He always has a couple of decent runs, but hardly ever scores and loses possesion a lot aswell. So I'll be putting some of my youth players at LW to give him a kick up the arse!

Also found a little bug; when you view an injured players stats (R3) and scroll down to other players the injury logo with description stays in view.

Wow that's a nice assumption given that you were clearly too lazy to see how much I've discussed sliders, particularly in the sliders and setting thread.

So to answer you question, pal, yeah, I've tinkered with them plenty. And I have a right to point out stuff I find irritating with the game, just as much as I've posted a lot of positive stuff about the game too..

May want to bump down your difficulty level? Don't have any of these problems...

I have this same problem with my Leeds career. I did play him though and he did ok. The other one that demanded playing time was Nunez so I put him in the rest of the year and got an offer of 8 mil during the January transfer window.

I haven't bought any other striker yet since the ones I have are doing ok, Becchio, McCormack, and even Somma, the RM and LM positions are completely covered with Beckham (:))), Ryazantsev, Korkmaz and Nunez.

Like I said, I feel kinda sorry for the guy, but I'm gonna have to let Sam go.

Back to the CM itself, won 1-0 against City at home, very nice result, and then a draw 1-1 against Tottenham away, I was leading the first half but then a set piece from almost the halfway line managed to find VAN DER VAART's head :CONFUSE:

I had the same problem as you but I found that form has a great impact so when I started my career over and went of to a better start the game wasn't harder in CM then in exhibition games.

IF that is not just placebo from my point then I think it is awesome. Form should have a great impact over a season.

For those in CM, is there an established setting for the injury slider? Although improved vastly, I haven't had an injury of over 9 days yet in half a season... seems too few.

I don't know if established but I have mine in 60 for recurrence or however it's called, I don't know how I got the other one, but right now I've got a CB, an attacking midfielder and a striker injured, the CB and the CAM both with Broken Ankles, I don't remember the exact kind of injury of the striker, but it was a 2/3 month thing.

I've now got them on;

90/98 frequency
70/70 severity

My front line is being decimated though, hahaha. Kuyt came on as a sub yesterday and his first action was to block an opponent (typical Kuyt, nothing to do with attack) but he collided awkwardly with the other player and did his knee in, out 4 months!

I now have had Carroll out for 3 months and then after half a match another 3 weeks, Suarez is out for 3 months and now Kuyt is out for 4 months. Downing is out for 7 days, Gerrard has been out for 7 days. Agger has been out for 3 weeks. Enrique (after scoring hsi first goal) was out for 2 or 3 weeks. Actually looking back, I've had quite a few injuries so far. Have now played 16 or so league matches.

I had the AI on 95/60 but they hardly got any injuries in my CM so bumped it up a couple of games ago and looking at the injurylist it seems more balanced. Before only about a 3rd of the AI teams had an injury, with me usually having 2 or 3 at a time. After the change to 98/70 they now also have about 2 or 3 with similar timeframes and had an AI player go off with an injury aswell. Went about 10 or so matches without that happening.

But then I hardly foul or do hard tackles in my matches so maybe that's why it needs to be so high for me.

It means that if you have other stuff going on, it won't save it. Although I have no idea how you can be "in a mode" whilst at the main menu...

I never experienced what LTFC had (on World Class).
I have one problem: until now in the Bundesliga i have won 7 matches and drawn 3.
The 3 matches i've drawn, i've dominated for 75 minutes and then i loose the plot...my players's stamina goed down hill and i can only make 3 substitutions (obviously). What am i doing wrong? Could it be that my defense is playing way too high?

Must say i like this game. At the moment i'm second after Borussia Dortmund, but i eliminated that team in the first Cup round...

Do you mean like the overall pace of the game is better etc?

Yep exactly that, and especially with the AI it tones down their unrealistic hyper dribbling a bit.

my players's stamina goed down hill and i can only make 3 substitutions (obviously). What am i doing wrong? Could it be that my defense is playing way too high?

Is it possible that you have players with medium/low stamina and you're setting them with high attack or defense in the workrate section of your custom tactics?

Also maybe you're sprinting too much with players and not letting them catch their breath especially after a long sprint Gerd?

If I'm in the lead I tend to go defensive (mentality) and put a few fast attackers on (Bellamy for Carroll for example). That usually enables me to get another on the counter, or keep them occupied enough to keep them away from my goal.

F'kin hell! The xmas schedule has not been kind! I now have out injured;
Aurelio ( 3 months, got injured against City)
Enrique (1 month, got injured against City!)
Gerrard (2 weeks, got injured against City!!)
Henderson (2 weeks)
Adam (2 months)
Kuyt (2 months)
Suarez recovering with a band-aid next to his name.

Lost 1st place in a super duper sunday fixture against 2nd placed City. They opened the scoring whilst injuring Aurelio....Reina could only palm the ball away and Aurelio wasn't in his position leaving Aguero free to tap the ball in. On came Enrique, who I was resting, and within 20min he also had to go off. My only defender on the subs bench was a slow and cumbersome Coates so with the 1st half over, and now a 2-0 behind any chance to switch up tactics was gone. I really should have switched everything and brought on an attacker instead of Coates! Fatal mistake. :(

City comfortably played out the second half as Liverpool got sloppier and sloppier and at 3-0 and 10min to go I decided to sub Gerrard to give him some rest...whilst waiting for the ball to go out of play he pulled up with his hamstring! Then in the final min. Lucas gave a penalty away right in the corner of the box. Final score: City 4 - Liverpool 0!

For New years day (2 days later) I have to go up to Geordieland with a makeshift side of reserves, recoveries and youth players!
