Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

Off Topic......

Mate you were the better team yesterday, we even got a 'top 4' decision for the pen... Adam Johnson though, he'll be world class within a year.

O.T.

Say thank-you to De Jong too, what an absolute cunt :( You'll be top 4 this season. If we get a few decisions our way for once, we'll be top half no doubt.

Seems to when you're talking about PES 2011 :) (which is equally flawed by the way, it's just because Fifa has been so disappointing and PES has actually improved very, very slightly).
:CONFUSE:

PES 2010 and 2011 are nothing like each other... Not sure how I can take someone seriously who fails to see the huge difference... Yeah, you may not like the game, but to say there is only a small improvement is crazy.

PES 2011 is flawed, as is every other video game I've played in some way (nothing is perfect), but at least the areas it's flawed in don't lead to complete "anti-football"...

Anyway, back on topic...

No. The gulf in the two games seems so great because from PES 2010, anything they'd have released would have been a far more realistic game. Seeing as Fifa has been incredibly disappointing too, it's just given people the impression PES is better. Both are shit games; and for me, PES hasn't done enough.

Eurogamer said:
FIFA 11 has sold a whopping 821,000 copies in its opening weekend on sale in the UK.

It made £28.93 million – the second best ever day one UK sales, according to MCV.

FIFA 11 is easily the best-selling game in the UK this week. It had the strongest launch of any game in the series, and had the third best week one sales ever in the UK. Modern Warfare 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV remain the first and second biggest.

In total, FIFA 11 accounted for 51 per cent of the UK's total game sales last week.

Proof if ever it was needed, that this game will sell regardless of what us hardcore fans think :P

Is Clubs fixed yet?

Sorry to my fellow clubmates over the past few days. my tinternet has been dodgy and kept getting chucked off live.

Played a few games today.

I am going to only state the positives that I feel :DD (we all know the negatives).

I am feeling alot more freedom overall. When you collide with players and fall over, the players seem to get up quicker and become controllable alot more than before. One of my huge gripes with Fifa is when you fall over it takes an age to get up and challenge for the ball again. This on Fifa 11 seems to have been imprived alot imo.

Also I am feeling more weight on the players? when you are sprinting one way and the opposition player turns, it is harder to redirect the player because of the momentum of your player.

I really like the sliding tackles. But I need to use them less as I keep getting players sent off. Some of the refs decisions seem overly strict. But this could be due to the refs I got.

Shooting feels much nicer. I have done some nice low powerful shots and a couple of screamers hitting the bar. Still haven't scored from open play yet as I haven't played fifa for ages and playng full manual on world class.

Still got to play alot more games, but overall at the moment I am happy :))

Bit of a guess, but I wonder if their position changed when you saved it. Even if you didn't edit his position specifically, it could still change because of the messed up way they record positions this year (I think it's related to Virtual Pro). If so, that would recalculate the overall based on position.

Oh right, I'll check. Valencia was listed as a 'RF' when I was playing career mode and he was a sub so maybe his position got changed.

Is there no way to reset a player? Don't wanna reset all my squads that I've edited.

To be fair mate, i don't think De Jong meant to hurt him. He isn't that sort of player. Cue pictures of him ninja kicking Alonso....:JAY:

But yeah, was an accident imo. A welcome to the game tackle. Unfortunately his standing leg got caught under De Jong.

I'm playing as Leeds and copied Fulham's formation over to mine. I stick Becchio as the CF and he is rated like 69. I change my left mid to someone with lesser skill and BECCHIO drops to 66...

Maybe these ratings are based around the player but also who is playing around them?

De Jong is the dirtiest bitch in the game and should be banned. He's broken two legs in 6 months or so, Ben Arfa and Stuart Holden in a f'ng friendly and karate kicked Alonso. He's a mug and Holland was right to ban his sorry ass.

Ok CM fans...

Was promoted with Leeds after winning the playoff. The board gave me 1.5 mil dollars...

Because most of the mid level players in this game cost around 10 million, I can't do a darned thing to strengthen my squad.

I just played a CM Match against Halmstad in the Swedish league. In halftime they had a passing accuracy of 93%. I was playing on World Class, and their players didn't do a single mistake all game. If I sprinted at their ball carrier with my player, the millisecond their player knew I could not stop quickly enough, they just change direction and move another way, leaving my player dead. Their passing does not sway one millimeter from hitting their player every single time, save for some token occasions where the game decides "ok, we'll miss this one...". I especially love the through passes where the ball intersects the player at almost 90 degrees, and not once are those passes "almost" accurate. I watch their player running full speed, watching the ball move and I think, "well, surely this one is too long". Nope, they intersect perfectly with the player moving at top speed.

And why the small number on here, the EA forums and others who are not happy dont really matter. Could u imagine if Rutter or anyone else for that matter suggested changing Fifa to make the hardcore happy to there bosses at EA? They would be laughed out of the company. Shareholders matter and Fifa at this moment is selling like crazy.

So it is worth buying after all  ? Or are you doing what i did with the world cup game and adapting to how the game want's you to play (enoying the pressure fests and just playing it for the animations? )

I always knew I would like it, but it is still early days.

I'm not that picky and I don't notice alot of what people are talking about.

Like the slugish passing? It feels fine to me? when I press the button down more then the pass is more powerful. I think it only goes slower when you are using the wrong foot and when you are in an awkward position? but thats just my opinion (I also havent played with shitter teams yet, so I dont know what the passing is like there). The passing doesn't annoy me, but it seems to be annoying everybody else.

I am enjoying it so far and I probably will for a long time. I play a few games a night (if that), so I am not hardcore.

I love playing all manual though, and I just feel like I am in control of fifa on all manual and I also love the physical game in fifa (which alot of people moan about aswell). I am still to try pes11, but I will try it and give it a really good go (stop playing fifa and give it a couple of weeks of playtime). But if it feels too assisted, the chances are I will prefer Fifa.

Bottom line is I am usually easily satisfied :))

I recommend you play with small teams in PES, that's when the game really shines, it feels completely different to playing with the bigger teams, and passing is more or less assisted depending on the player you have. Xavi will give you more assisted passes because obviously it's... Xavi, whilst a player in the lower leagues will have to place more power behind the passing and you'll need more precise direction.

Don't be fooled, PES isn't as assisted as you think.
And the animations will grow on you; finishes look spectacular in this game.

 when playing with Fyernoord in my ML, i put a reserve side out vs Kiev in the Europa League, i could barley string two passes toghether  There's no way the passing is assisted! it's definatly semi at least! It's harder aswell with shit passers since stas matter heavily with the passing :)

All football games are better when using lesser teams :) Teams like Besiktas, Bordeux midrange teams etc...who have one star player, several decent ones and the rest are shit! i love teams like that. it's always easy with premium teams, but i don't care, it should be easy with them tbh!

Normally with such an obviously bad challenge opposition players would be in De Jong's face or at least asking the referee for a free-kick.

There's a still picture online somewhere where De Jong's foot is on the ball and Ben Arfa's foot is in the air. Unfortunately as Ben Arf plants his foot, De Jong's other leg traps it. Complete accident. I'm not saying De Jong didn't try and rough him up, but he had zero intention of breaking his leg. I watch De Jong every week. He's committed, but he isn't that sort of player.

Good lad De jong, i'd have him in my team without hesitation. We need more committed players, shame about the broken legs but that's just part of the game. And if you want to make something of it, i see you after the game.:P

Good idea man. If I could play the full version for a week before buying, I'd buy it second hand too. Too bad it takes ages for used FIFA copies to drop in price :(

I've played enough PES11 now that I see your point and I feel it is a good game. Looks like I'll be playing it most of the time on my PC, with all of the modding options available. :TU:

@ Henrys hand & Rob92

As I said I didn't want this to turn into a PES vs FIFA debate.

I think it's safe to say that I prefer FIFA 11 and you prefer PES 2011.

I know you say it's not 'clunky' looking if you zoom out (i haven't tried it) but I always used to play PES on the 2nd closest setting. I feel that the closer you are the more effective you can be at avoiding defenders (plus it's not ridiculously close). Again in FIFA I select custom camera settings, click height back by 2 and zoom up by 2. This gives me a view that is very similar to the camera settings I used throughtout the PES series (I highly recommend this setting btw).

PES would appeal to me a lot more if the game headed down the full simulation route, with manual passing the default setting.

As it stands FIFA is the only football game that can offer me the freedom i'm looking for (in both movement and passing). Sure when playing online I have to play against friends/fellow full manual players but it's a small sacrifice to pay to play a realistic game of football.

Anyway I don't care to debate any further. It's apparent that I can see past FIFA's shortcomings and you can see past pro evo's. Let's just leave it at that. :TU:
