Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

I really hope that they release an update to fix this. It seems that the animation is too hasty.

Okay, weird. I had installed it on my HD on my Xbox360 - then tried to remove it to see if it helped. And now it seems as if the game is slower.

Is it just me or is there another one who wants to try the same solution? Maybe my eyes are playing a trick on me :CONFUSE:

Played a couple of hours (only against CPU) and love it so far. Playing against the CPU feels miles better then it was in FIFA 10. But there a still some gamebreakers. First of all scoring on higher levels is almost impossible.

You can't beat CPU defenders at all just with speed. Even with fast players like Robben and Ribery you can't wrongfoot a defender and run away from him. It works only in one of ten attempts and even if it works, a second defender will be there in a second. Reaction-Time from CPU defenders is sick.

That will be a huge problem in this game playing against the CPU. It takes away the fun because you will be forced to pass it and pass it and pass it. Maybe it will be a bit better after playing a lot more games but i doubt it. And if not i guess it will be a little bit frustrating playing against the CPU a lot.

Ok massive surprise considering ive been reading the negative comments here - but I really like it.

I tried the demo, hated it, went to pes 2011 demo and loved it. Im still eagerly awaiting its arrival. But since i use my 360 exclusively for football games, i figure i should buy both. So i bought FIFA 11 today, and to my surprise, and in contrast to whats being said here, i like it.

Ive been playing world cup up until now as my full game, so my brain is still wired in FIFA mode. Ok:

-The game is very, very slow. i play on slow setting, and its sluggish, lethargic and undynamic. These sound negative but strangely enough for me I like it - i like how the advantage is given to the defender always and just feel its sort of a revelation. slow sprinting and passing (on manual maybe a bit too slow but meh) means i have to work around to build up. Far better. havent had any 1v1s so far.

Lots of new animations which i like, they seem more pro evo style animations (as in, have weight and sense) to compliment the existing floaty but sometimes attractive fifa animations.

Definate P+ working. Had Malouda taking shots only on his left even in the complete right-foot situation, and loving the detailed appearances and faces. Like the new pop ups and intro scene as well.

Tackling is too easy. Thats an issue.

First game was 1-0 to me. Melbourne derby (Im australian, yeh yeh), Heart won 1-0. Nice goal by Terra from the edge of the box after i faked the CPU and struck the post. Shot dipped unlike 10 and world cup. Next game, and was MUCH faster, Chelsea v Arsenal in rain at stamford bridge. Still wasnt too fast, which I like, but it was more skilled, had more shots and faster than the A-league. It felt like the right difference. Lost 3-1 to arsenal at home (i was chelsea). computer scored against me unlike 10 or world cup, very dynamic and varied play (not all crosses). Like that they do tricks too, and some new first touches like ball rolls.

Im playing on Legendary, which is weird as I usually play Professional. Im liking the difficulty.

All in all a solid first impression. Its not the best ever, or maybe as good as PES (well wait and see with that one), but I like it nonetheless.

Question for 360 owners - has anyone tried the online pass code on the back of the manual? every which way I enter it its invalid. Lower case no hyphens, upper case hyphens, every combination - no dice. wtf?

Niggles:
1. Passing is abit limited.
Most of the time the passing speed seems ok but when attempted long distance passes it can feel abit slow. Short to medium passing speed feels alright. The powerbar needs an extra 'level'.

Have you tried using the 'driven pass' rb and x on the xbox. It's great for changing the pace of an attack.

If you want the game for literally the price of a small bottle of coke, go to Asda where you can get it for 97p if you trade in either Dead Rising 2, F1 2010 or Halo: Reach. The offer applies to both PS3 and 360 SKUs.

If you’re not looking to trade, it’ll will be £29.97 without any strings.

Sainsburys are selling it for £25, but only when £30 or more is spent in store. The price for the game on its own is £34.97.

Over at Tesco, if you buy any other chart title, you can get FIFA for £25, while Morrisons are running the same deal, with the price there being £27.

I'm not sure I buy that... where were these people complaining about the game speed? Because I haven't heard/seen anyone saying 'make it quicker', have you?

On the contrary, one of the main bits of feedback about the demo seemed to be that people were generally positive on the slower game speed. Maybe I'm just reading the wrong places.

Even if there were people saying 'make it faster'... isn't that what the Fast speed setting is for?

I'm also highly suspicious when people claim that game speed is different after a title update, patch, whatever. I've heard people moan that the game is quicker after a simple squad/roster update, in the past...

Sounds to me like Gary & Co have been tweaking stuff that they couldn't fit in (or get approved) before the disc went gold. If so, it would be nice for EA to mention what they've done. At the moment I haven't found anywhere where they've even acknowledged the existance of this download.

Rom, can u please describe the changes the patch has made?

They've sped the passing right up practically to FIFA 10 levels without introducing more variety of speeds; the players seem to be faster, the passing accuracy seems to be even higher... Things like that.

Thinking about the design choices they've made elsewhere, there's no option to play on Slow settings in CM, and people are now able to switch pass power assistance ON despite what was said earlier in the year. It's an axe kick to the faces of the hardcore. It means you can't experience the game as YOU want offline while casual cnuts get to play exactly how they want online. Sure people can't ping pong up the pitch in one single sequence, but all that has been introduced is a brief gap between spurts of passes. 1-2's still fuck up the defensive AI unnaturally. We were playing Clubs and the opposition had 7-0-3 with 7 AI defenders packing the back out and stopping you from playing passion football, while they just 1-2'd and ground passed their way to the cheapest goals you've ever seen.

Ugh.

Wait, i read the other day there was going to be no custom formations in clubs, so that gone too. This is getting more like Fifa 10.1 every minute.

If a 7-0-3 formation is successful that say's something about the game. If they were close to getting the basics of football right a 7-0-3 formation would get murdered.

They need to sort it or i'm not sure i can do another year of that crap.

This just sounds horrendous. Thanks for reply

Every year the same **** with defending. The easy pressure and defending by holding sprint and tackling button kills all the good gameplay. Just every noob can defend online like a pro. I mean if you holding these two buttons in PES6 oder PES2011 for example you gonna lose every game 10-0. The defending part in fifa11 is still made for casuals...what a shame. Biggest issue about the game and EA will not change it or they gonna lose many buttons holding casual noobs.

You're probably just not a good player. I've not played Fifa 11 (finished version) yet, but I've heard that defensive complaint about Fifa 10 in the past. It's just not true - if you were any good at the game, you'd be able to easily stop people stealing the ball from you by holding the pressure button. I'm a fairly high ranked player online now, and if I try doing that I just get battered.

Ugh.

It becomes harder and harder to tolerate EA's behaviour. The problem is now, that the community is powerless. Whether the gamechangers are powerless is questionable - but my God no-one else in this community has a chance of achieving anything.

I'm so close to done with EA. Every year a rollercoaster (and it's always the same shape. EA have gone silent since the forum change. Paterson hasn't appeared on board a single time, no response to the petition bar "Use manual", which made me want to go on an axe spree.

Quite simply, I feel totally done - and if anyone has any power to change it, it's a very small group of individuals empowered by EA. My level of anger at EA and the community, both specific members and in general is at a peak. It's time for the gamechangers to prove themselves or prove the system wanting. I only hope that you guys are raising all hell in the hidden forums - though frankly I wish you all just took it outside - because whilst you afford EA the grace of hiding the most reputable negative views, we're going nowhere.

earom @ChelseaBlue09 update was a few fixes for other things. Shouldn't have affected game speed at all. about 20 hours ago via TweetCaster in reply to ChelseaBlue09

Erm pretty sure it's in there in game settings?
