Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

Based on the demo and the negative responses here, I'm seriously doubting this will be a day one purchase for me now, as it has been in the past few years. Yes, people should judge the full game their self, but you can make an educated decision on whether I should buy it based upon the demo as well as other peoples reviews.

The game will be an improvement on Fifa 10, but EA's philosophy really stinks. I feel sorry for the people who wasted so many hours trying to improve the game with them, I really do.

The main problem is this is EA. Be careful what you ask for, it could get worse.

Last year we needed clubs sorting out post release. The solution EA came up with? 4 foot midget goalkeepers and 60 rated "any" players.

I mean, i'd have loved to be in that meeting.

When they said they can patch the game post release alot more this year, we should've known that meant make the game worse slowly over time.

Hey guys, I have had the game for a day and I think we need some positive feedback on these forums...

So I started as Ashley Young with Aston Villa on the Career mode. I play on Legendary, (the only way to go for BAP) 10 minute halves to get accurate stats, and play on the slow setting.

P+ has been very noticable so far. When playing Stoke City, the used the long ball tactic and tried to hit K. Jones in the air a lot! I played at Arsenal and the opened up my D with speed and passes numerous times, quite beautiful to watch. Played Fulham, which used some nice crafty passing. So far I have played 10 games, and every team has played differently.

My favorite new part is the amount of missed passes, more teams make risky passes.

My only gripe so far in CM, is that my manager has yet to make any changes to the lineup after 10 games...

Mmmm, there's a factor of "deja vu" that makes every iteration worse than it's predecossor to me, even if I know they are vastly better in the technical department over the previous one.

It's hard to know how I would rate every one of them without having played the previous one, but I'll try. I'm rating full manual gameplay vs human. That's rating purely gameplay, not the "full package", if you get me.

Fifa10: 6.75
WC: 7.10
Fifa11: 7.25

The problem with Fifa 11 is that offers practically nothing new to a formula that was stagnating for me, and what it does well is "obscured" by the main flaws. Animations are great by themselves, ball physics are awesome, sense of urgency, clearances, long balls, etc... are great, but hindered by some basic principles that are done wrong (probably "voluntarily" done wrong to catter ot the masses). As it is right now, the final package offers not a better or most complete football recreation of the sport than WC to me. Fifa 11 is more smooth, but more "casual" (like Pes6 to Pes5). But many basics are dumbed down.

But these flaws are breaking any feeling of simulation and depth is gone, and makes the game feel flat at the end. Why bother with something that doesn't want to be what I want it to be?

Thanks for your comment.
Reading your previous post I was thinking that Fifa 11 could be a 6.50 (considering the other scores) to you. Better reading this.

Anyway, I've just tested Fifa 11 offline and I don't like to play soccer games against CPU. My score for Fifa 11 is not ready yet but I can say this.

Fifa Wolrd Cup was BY FAR better than Fifa 10.
I'm talking about:
- graphics
- field
- animations
- keepers
- lobs

just to mention a few.
Considering this I really couldn't accept that a Fifa 10 player that missed Fifa World Cup could say that he doens't see differences between 10 and 11.

If they changed tackling and movement (no skating, proper inertia and weight), Fifa11 could ramp up dramatically to a 8.5 or 9, even with the crappy CPU AI as it is. And P+ and tactics could arise and shine a little more.

Could you explain it better or easier? :)

I'll get my copy today.
I'd like you that tried it online to give me some quick info:

1. Do we have rooms for ASSISTED, SEMI and MANUAL players?

2. Do we have something like a MANUAL league as they told?

3. Winning matches do you earn points to gain new levels (like in Fifa 10) or you have definied number of matches to gain enough points to save your ass and be promoted (like in Fifa World Cup)?

4. During the online matches you can pause the game while you have the ball in your feet and not (like in Pes) calling it for the next time the ball goes out? It is bad.

Didn't they say from the beginning that the passing thing could be turned off in all modes except in the ranked online games? Or maybe it's something else people freak out about that I missed.

Played the full version, not too happy. It's not the doom and gloom some people are making it out to be but it's very disappointing for those who thought we'd get a more realistic game this year.

A big plus is that the speed difference is negligable when playing offline. Offline it's the same old story, enough has been said about the boring and predictable games so no point in going over that again. I was hoping the final version would be better but the only thing that's really noticeable is that the AI stand off more which is a definite improvement. One thing that left me amazed how when I played co-op Career Mode with Wolves I spotted Man Utd playing Vidic at leftback. Same as last year:TTTH:

Online is a mess. I already accepted the fact offline would be largely be disappointing as I'm looking for player and team individuality, and I knew that probably wasn't going to be implemented in the short time between the demo and the final build. So online I went for a few unranked matches on my friends Xbox. I've owned one for three years so I felt comfortable with the controller straight away. Well, it's definitely true you can turn off the weighting element of Pro Passing. In other words, quick 1-2's are still extremely lethal. You can't really pingpong because the ball'll start bobbling around eventually but it's still far too easy to create openings that way. From that point of view it's a major plus they nerfed sprint speed, unfortunately they've nerfed it so badly Theo Walcott now can't outsprint Puyol anymore.

Which brings me to the issue of defense. It's still far too easy. I used pressure and secondary pressure plus sprint for nearly the entire game and it worked wonders, just like last year. My players were getting tired towards the end but they'd still pressure my opponent without hesitation. Once or twice I tried jockeying and cutting off passing lanes but the ball would just fly right by my defender, leaving positioning useless and pressuring even more important. What's worse, playing full manual you still can't find a game and you're forced to play assisted users, even though there are manual leaderboards it's still impossible to find someone else playing manual. Oh, and Drogba is still impossible to stop.

Is it a bad game? Not by any means. I already predicted I'd enjoy playing friends and I did. 1v1 against likeminded people is great, but for me it's not worth another 60 euro. I can see how people like this game, I really do, but it's just not for me. I thought they were headed the right direction judging from the gamerbase build and the demo, but it looks like they chickened out and returned to FIFA 10 with a few new features and shiny new graphics. It's definitely a good game all in all, but I'm done with it. For those who do like it, enjoy:))

Thankfully I'm completely offline FIFA, so most of the issues people are having problems with I won't encounter. But it does seem a little "messy" online, from what's been noted.

First off, the ratings were considering what I would have thought if I had never played the previous Fifa! It's twisted, but it's what you asked me.

If I have to rate it taking into consideration the previous games, I would say Fifa 11 is a 5.5 or a 6 for me maximum.

I'm hugely disappointed. Offline is useless and online will be another exploiter's paradise and a mess.

I've decided I'm not buying it unless it is £25 on Friday from supermarkets. Can someone let us know when they find out for definate the price, thanks

I got mine free and last night I was thinking of sending it back!

As I said, it was 7.5 or so before the patch, but now it's just FIFA 10 in my eyes.

Can you/ Have you/ Is it worth you - emailing your contacts from EA and telling them how much they have ballsed up? Or will they just go with the majority of dickheads who want this crap?

Must be extra annoying for you guys that have been trying to help EA out with making it more sim like. Hopefully they take that feedback and implement it as options in FIFA 12 with the sliders. Otherwise I can't see the point in all that. On the other hand you have the brown nosed people that went with you that does nothing than praise the game (cooley and fsb crew and so on).

Are you going to stick with it and try to help them out with FIFA 12?

Also Rom do you know any more about the what exactly EA can update/patch this year. I'm sure i read somewhere that they have gotten around the Microsoft patch problem and they can update the game this year.

I'm just wondering if enough people complain, can they change whats wrong?

EDIT:: Also Kev i'm sure Asda are doing the £24.97 deal for 24 hours from Thursday night. It'll be in the papers tomorrow. No doubt Tesco and Morrisons will follow suit. If i can make it in that time i'll buy it for that, but if its as bad as it looks post patch i'm gonna bail on it. Problem i have, i just cant 'get' PES even this year when loads love it.

Don't worry. Apparently "user skill element is hardcoded ON for online" can be interpreted as: "user skill element can be turned to whatever you like at any point".

Shoot me now. I loathe what EA have done, and I loathe what this community lets it do.

Romagnoli - exasperated? Or are you going to fight on this year... I think I've pulled blank with the petition and I really don't know how anyone outside of the gamechangers can be more persuasive than that. Is it worth even fighting for anymore. At the moment I feel totally, totally powerless in the face of this crap.

Bloody ridiculous. Can't believe some of the people who are on EA's side over the pro-passing on/off situ online.

I doubt you will see them patch the game to be more pleasing for a small group of people that want the game to be more sim like though. How the game plays currently is obviously what most people love about it. Quick and fun action football, no boring midfield battles thank you very much.

That small group would be more influential than you think and most are the ones that swung from PES to Fifa.

If that minority goes back they will take alot more people ("sheep") with them. People play what there mates are playing. If PES get the hardcore back, it'll drag alot back across.
