Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

I thought that the only thing u can turn off online was the mark on the power bar but that the pro passing was still in effect

It sure doesn't feel like it is I've been able to string 15-20 passes It may just be a pre release issue... I hope so anyway because I wasn't able to string that many earlier today/yesterday/day before.

I'm pretty sure I saw an EA mod confirm on the official forums that PP cannot be turned off online. People are reporting having different experiences though, so either there is a bug or PP is just not that noticeable I guess?

only thing that bugged me is we turned handballs on and straight away 2 penalties in the first match came from guess what? playing hand...;)

In my first three matches, I had two penalties for handball as well.

Net slackness can be changed before the match in the settings.

I'm really, really confused right now. Some people say the final build is slower, others say it's faster. Some people say ping pong passing is still pretty much alive online, others say it isn't. Some people say opponent AI is much improved, others say it still plays like a clinical machine, like you're playing 11 robots:CONFUSE:

I take back what I said about pressure, it's not as bad as FIFA 10 at all. Played a few more games last night and the CPU do stand off you a lot more and give you more time on the ball.

I'm actually beginning to wonder if PES has too much pressure now, compared to FIFA

same thing here. and honestly, at times being in the half of your opponent in pes feels like being attacked by bees or something. that's what i meant with random.

while fifa sometimes can be a "push X button" tackle-party from your side, i personally think the AI does exactly that in pes. i rarely have time to build up my play.

Oh come on dags! What's it gonna be? :D

Just shows though how much impressions can differ per person. (Unless there really is a big difference between consoles)

What I realised is that I was forced to play a lot of one-touch passes in PES compared to FIFA 11, whereas FIFA 10 was awful for NEEDING to do it or you lost the ball.

But in saying that, the pitch in PES is a lot bigger so the feeling of increased pressure isn't as bad as you can turn with the ball without worrying about another player behind inches away from you.

 At this moment, they're both good games. I prefer PES overall but FIFA does play a good game, and it is better than FIFA 10 (due to reduced pressure probably?).

I'll tell you something though. If I'd have just based my judgement on their shitty 4 min demo, I wouldn't have anything good to say. Why EA would do such a short demo is beyond me, it can't possibly leave anyone with a positive impression in such a short time and you're forced to play fast passing due to so little time.

I know, I've stopped playing the demo as it just pisses me off. Which is a shame as I know with less pressure (either standard or by doing CT's) it will be a far more enjoyable game. EA have really f#$ked up their marketing this year, though saying that all the reviews (bar Eurogamer's) are doing their best to get the metacritic up even higher this year!

The point is that at the end of the day the last thing the 'gamechangers' should be doing is giving a false impression to the forum, and being delighted with a lack of change. It goes against the whole concept. I have no problem with a casual gamer saying FIFA is a 9, a 9.5, even a 10 - but for one of the most reputable manual playing member of the community to give FIFA 11 a 9.5 is.. well.. it's not condusive to changing the game.

You are right that we should continue to push EA in the right direction but the gamechangers ARE our best hope of that. However hard I try personally I'm never going to have as much sway as someone with that title - if the gamechangers are telling EA that it's great and that this cautious jumping over low hurdles is more than enough, then we'll hit the next generation before we're sated.

Well, EA themselves describe the gamechangers as:

"Game Changers are independent community members who are offered a close connection with people at EA SPORTS. To acknowledge Game Changers' leadership and provide a platform to help support their efforts, EA SPORTS often gives Game Changers early access to EA SPORTS games, as well as the opportunity to pass on their highly targeted feedback and recommendations about product design, development, and support."

Admittedly, that's for the US lot which seems more developed, but the theory is the same..

As a so called Gamechanger I can assure you I am pushing for the things most of the guys on here are, I have never knowingly given out any false information or a false impression about the game. I have given my honest opinion and been quick to point out the games flaws..

I have even done this direct to David Rutter and Marcel, but you also have to understand FIFA sells a massive amount of product and it's core audience are not you and me, convincing them a more Sim based game is the way to go is not as easy as banging on about what is wrong, and what a rival game does better in some peoples eyes..

I also have to say despite it's flaws I am enjoying the game, for me there is a big difference between 10 and 11, and I'm sure if you check my posts I've been nothing but fair in any feed back I have given, either on here or other sites. I have been the loudest proponent of change and addition for the now named Career mode, along with improvements both on and off the field..

Sure there will be some who like where the game is now more than others and feel it's rated higher for that reason, but I can't see how you can say this is wrong, it's their opinion the same as I have mine and you yours. The game is good, it would not sell in the millions if it were not..

Is it as close to representing the game as we'd like, no clearly not and I for one are trying to give EA ideas on how we can move in that direction...

indeed, but might this be something they included on purpose in order to show of the new manual passing? something that came to my mind while playing. hey, we got a fancy new system of playing the ball, so let's make the player really use it.:SMUG:

I realise the ratings "bug" has reared it's ugly head again this year, but I found this comment on another site slightly alarming :

I don't get the ratings system at all. VDV is 84 when I play him in 442 alongside Hudd, but if I swap Pav for Bentley (in the ST position), VDV's rating goes down to 79. WTF?

Odd that it would go down depending on who the strike pairing was.

Career mode seems improved, the player growth section is better. Now says whether a player has potential and if you need to give them playing time. Also prefer the search options when looking for players as well.

Good stuff. I'll be playing offline mostly, as online games don't do it for me as much as they do other folk. Career Mode and Clubs will be what I'm looking forward to.

I wonder what this patch fixes?

I wonder if there is scope for them to release the game with both the current arcade flavour, and a sim option?

If the game engine is easy to tweak, just by modifying numbers, then a sim mode which, as well as the current manual passing, opens up a far more obvious Pro-Passing, P+, fatigue model, etc. Something that exaggerates all the sim like features they have in the game, but that they seem to tone down to the point of being non-existent.

Maybe the sliders I've heard talked aboout for next year (I'll believe it when I see it) will provide part of the solution.

Ah, when starting a career as a player manager, before each match you're given the option to control either your VP or the whole team. Nice.

Edit: AN INJURY IN MY FIRST MATCH!
