Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

Maybe your part right. I dont play many basketball games but i would also imagine basketball is a lot easier to implement realistically than football? Do you think?

Maybe in terms of perfectly replicating attacking movement for different teams (though PES doesn't seem to have a problem with the tactical element in this regard), but as it concerns making players do ONLY what they're capable of, nah, it's not too much to ask.

There was an interview video with Rutter a while back where he's talking about the differences in passing and shooting based on a players skill rating (I think it was the one that talked about the face modeling as well) and he's trying to explain how Sol Campbell, unlike Arshavin, took much longer on the ball to make a simple turn and is very inaccurate from distance when shooting. He then fired a daisy cutter from outside the box with Sol and put it right in the bottom corner. :P Maybe it was a one time deal, but I've seen quite a few "that player shouldn't be able to do that very often but he's able to do it the very first time he tried" moments in most of these FIFA 11 vids.

This made me lol IRL.

Sounds like Apple and their "magic" BS.

The reason it's funny is that it's not even far from the truth .

I think everyone agrees that Personality+ and Pro Passing are the two features that EA have used most to advertise the game.

"Personality+" is just the attributes actually doing something, as they always should have and "Pro Passing" is just passing error, again, as there always should have been as these are two very basic things that every football game should have... From the videos we've seen it doesn't even look like either of them do a lot.

Next year they will probably fix the shooting, and call it "Pro Shooting" or some other name, or just fix some other basic thing that should have been in the very first version and then call it a fancy name.

As I've said before, I havn't been following the PES news, but Master League Online sounds like a much better feature to advertise than what EA have, it sounds like a far superior mode to Ultimate Team that is included in the price of the game...

No need to "reintroduce" footplanting because I really don't think it was ever gone. Download all those FIFA11 youtube clips yourself and play them at half the speed; you'll notice that the same footplanting system that was introduced in FIFA07 is still there in the upcoming game. You have to realize that the system was never perfect to begin with, and that the main culprit behind players looking like they're sliding all over is due to the extra mobility contributed by new animation features over the years. I wanted to check out what they are for myself so I gave all the xbox360 FIFA games a go (with the exception of UEFA 08 cos I never bothered with that). To sum it all up, it felt to me that as the series progress..

- more players that take shorter strides in their dribbling
- much shorter passing animations are introduced, with passes rarely require the player to lean back/pull their leg further back
- ball speed increased; also takes longer a time to decelerate
- jostling is introduced,
- etc etc

Spent about 10 minutes on each game before rotating between them back and forth (took a video of FIFA07 & 10, see below) but it didn't take long for me to notice how the yearly additions came at the expense of many fundamental features that they got right the first time. For eg, in FIFA07 you see that players often use both legs to control the ball but in later games, they don't necessarily need to be in proper step for a pass as you can trap and immediately execute a pass with the same feet without it touching the ground, clearly an effort to increase responsiveness. Body jostling also meant that players tend to slide/get pushed out of his running path. As long as more and more animations are introduced to inject more freedom in movement, we'll never get the deliberate pace of older games. A bit of a conundrum here but short of implementing an Euphoria like system into their animations engine, there's not much of a choice for EA except to continue build upon what they have.

YouTube - FIFA 07 / FIFA 10 dribble

That FIFA07 video is pure sex. Not sure if I am deviant in some way but seriously, look at the feet. Foot-planting fetish?

Lol.

Having watched that 'Fifa 11' video (that looks exactly like 10) on the last page. The only thing I can say is how shit does the keeper mode look? "Forget looking at the match, just watch this circle to see what to do"

I genuinely enjoyed the Fifa 07 part much more. I even went youtubing Fifa 07 and the UCL 06-07 game for more..

And no, I'm only talking about the skating and foot-planting. Passing and shooting animations were bad, an issue I had with the UCL game.

EDIT: And now Fifa 08... This still looks good.

EDIT2: Think I got to one conclusion. Bring Booth back.

If you don't like the circle, turn it off.

Hell yeah!!!!!

Good catch, too bad that everyone else just stand around like always. Do they really think this is a good representation of how real life corner kicks are?

Yeah both games need to work on this a aspect. There's a lot of pulling, pushing and blocking going on IRL. I reckon it can be done as it is in games like madden for example. It would really add to the overall experience.

A bit offtopic;

But who in here, as FIFA gamers, is going to download the demo and give impressions? Would be nice to have a different perspective as I know Jimmy will love it and sell it briliantly but he's coming from somewhere else to most of us in this thread.

I'd like that too, from reading the PES forum it's going to be life changing...

Posted this in the Pro forum as well.

Had a couple of games, haven't played since pro6 so looking with fresh but nostalgic eyes, been playing fifa since then.

The forward runs from my team mates are a bit poor, the never seem to run beyond and the lack of the L1 button to make them is hard to get used to.

I haven't seen much of the advantage rule either.

It has made me smile twice already and stop the game to view replays of moves i've put together, and the player individuality is great, i've missed it so much. Enjoying it so far.

To tell you the truth i think i might have enjoyed it more in 2 games then i did in a whole year of fifa. Thought thought of starting a ML with Castello and the old gang is making me worry about Fifa making it into my household. Its very solid all over, and feels like it will take time to master just like the old days, and that a casual gamer wouldnt be able to beat someone who plays it often, which i also used to love.

Not having the L1 forward runs is killing me though.

Edit: Graphics look good on replays but on wide cam aint that great, but that might just be the ps3, and the -2 speed setting is perfect.

Ive just read PES board and its getting a bit of a kicking. Goal Keepers and player switching seems to be the main gripes as well as some player and ball pysics. Just a very quick read though.

FIFA to me looks good so far so im happy

Too true he thought Pes10 was life changing.
