Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

I see from the videos the commentary hasn't changed in terms of excitement, still dull Martin Tyler when there's a near miss.

Has anybody heard anything that's been improved on the commentary front for 11?

No, and honestly, i don't care...our comments are far more important than the comments of Martin Tyler.

Commentary usually becomes a repetitive background noise after a few games for me, I don't take much notice of it and never have (why I never cared about the supposedly crap commentary on the old PES games).

It's a bit like when you sit in the living room but there's nothing on TV worth watching, but you have it on anyway because it feels awkward without some sound... FIFA just seems too quiet without commentary on :P - it might be good to have it off though this year if the imported crowd chants sound good and work online.

This video looks alot more like what i played at gamerbase.

you can see the pro passing is in but not really in terms of direction. Also watch when the guy tries to use second pressure, you can just move round them now aslong as your not running full speed.

I cropped out all footage that they show in the smaller split screen for both videos, then upscaled to fauxHD and mirrored:

2nd part is still encoding

Two words: Mark. Lawrenson. :CONFUSE:

My striker is on a hat trick and just misses a good attempt at goal

Lawro:

THAT'S THREE CHANCE HE'S HAD TO SCORE AND HE'S MISS ALL OF THEM!

Soul numbingly bad! FIFA's are good imo (not Martin Tyler and thtat fat shit). I mean the Spanish and Brazilian ones, even if Lalauna Get's annoying after a while.

For those who have played it, do the ball physics act better than they are coming across on those videos?

Ball still looks way to floaty and on a string in some circumstances, rather than a free entity.

This seems really fast, and with 2 pretty average teams. Ice skating championship aswell. For all the tweaked and added animations since the WC game the game looks worse just because players can accelerate even though both feet are busy doing other things like keeping a player upright or controlling the ball, and the in cases non-existent footplanting makes it alot less realistic looking. Why is this getting worse and worse with each iteration? It seems like it is done just to allow players to be more responsive, which is also contributing to the game being too fast, since players can just snap passes away in the blink of an eye, not having to pull back their leg (or rather, their leg snappng back and forth in superhuman speed) or do really quick turning with the ball.

PES this year looks less skatey than FIFA, which was not the case just a year or two ago.

I think the WC commentary is actually pretty good, much better than normal FIFA. Both have improved on what they were a few years ago. Usually after owning the game a couple weeks - you know, once you've heard everything - I used to always turn off the commentary and play music to fill the silence. Now I can actually play with the commentary on, so that's pretty good. Plus, the WC commentary can actually be funny at times, although I'll admit the FIFA commentary is getting a bit stale.

Also, speaking of the WC game, I was messing around with it today and playing Spain v France (me controlling Spain) matches I adjusted France's custom tactics, lowering pressure and aggression. The result was fantastic and I had the best WC matches yet. Much better experience than normal, especially since I'm playing all manual.

If we're pushing for sliders for FIFA 12, defensive pressure and aggression needs to be included fo sho.

This is what I think it means:

11 just like 10 will allow you to play good football. It does not mean you have to play football to win.

I find it funny that whether Pro Passing is on or off it makes little to no difference.

the barca gameplay looks good to me, coming as a PES player. the rain with the soaked jerseys look good. the other gameplay vids all look like ice-skating though. why don't they actually build from this video where they actually look like running?

Here are a couple of vids.

I really need to play the demo, some videos have looked terrible, while others look very good.. ugh

Nice to see Terry hit up with a yellow for that stamp on Lopez. Hopefully calls like this are made online (fouls at least, the card may have been a bit harsh) but not taken overboard.

And on that lob over the top around 6:39, do you think that a super cancel could've been used to let that fall or should EA think about implementing a button combo that would let you allow the ball to run past you and follow it? It's things like this that I wish EA would implement because much like driving without the assists in Forza, a seemingly "hardcore" control option like this isn't mandated, but could certainly help you in certain situations. It'd move the game a bit closer to a state where trying to play real footy would actually be to your advantage.

Not feeling the Barça vid. Too much "run into you to take the ball away," ice-skating, still looks too fast at times and the running styles get more cartoony by the year it seems. Sergio Busquets can now trap and pass with the best of them, and run after everyone w/o getting tired.
