Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

Wow, reading this thread there are a lot of double standards with some of the PES fans. So you can judge FIFA vids but FIFA fans can't judge PES vids cause *insert litany of excuses*? And there's less ping pong in PES? LOL EVEN in the the new trailer there is fantasy 1st time passing. Difference is most people expect that in PES. It's part of moving up the pitch (1-2's).

I'm looking forward to the new PES as much as anyone but I wouldn't get carried away. PES fans set themselves up for crushing reality every year and then spend the next 11 months berating poor Seabass when lofty expectations aren't met.

(FIFA fans just bash David Rutter around the clock poor guy  )

The way I see it, FIFA11 is a case of EA underestimating Konami and letting them back in. There's no doubt in my mind that the people that hopped over from PES6 will buy PES2011 (myself) this year due to the improvements made. But as an overall package FIFA11 offers more. I'll probably play PES2011 offline quite a bit and FIFA will be for online and offline when I want a proper Championship and Premier League structure.

What is PES doing better? They introduced a new passing system where you still can manage to play ping-pong passes. The animations look as stiff as ever and the AI is a complete disaster. I don't see anything that makes me wanna buy PES this year, even if FIFA has done nothing really right (ProPassing,P+,...) at least it has done nothing wrong.

it hasn't removed pingpong passing and by looks of it, scripted crosses.

probably the most important aspect to football game besides shooting

Really not sure why that tiny issue bothers so many. I thought it was funny if anything. The intro looks great otherwise imo. Just looks a little empty. I'd have liked to see mascots etc but it's better than last year's hugely poor attempt.

Another thing that's strange about that vid is the crappy stadium they chose to play in with overcast weather that is unflattering to the player models.

Those that are following NBA 2K11 know that the developers of that game have added more to their game this year than Konami and EA combined in their respective football games. Makes me wonder how hard they actually work...

What have they added? :CONFUSE: I'm getting the game just because of MJ.

YouTube - PES 2011 - Online Beta: Freekick Bug!

No ping-pong,no bugs :JAY: The ball moves like it is on rails, I don't feel that the pace is better that FIFA...

And PES just made this effort because the whole PES series on next-gen was shitty as hell. You can make a very good game just slightly better and everybody says: they've done nothing,it just looks like last year. Or you can make a shitty game better and everybody says: Whoa, look what they have done!new menus with fancy buttons and new passing system.

YouTube - PES 2011 Gameplay-Footage MLO (MasterLeague-Online) *HD*

Its just like PES2010 with some new animations and a new passing system. nothing else.

Wow, these PES videos look REALLY good.

Foot planting seems very good, notice in the celebration videos the way the players "bounce" a bit as they push off with their feet and run. Love it, in comparison FIFA11 seems to have feet sliding all over the place for almost any animation, which I don't understand why they haven't prioritized that.

The only thing that really bothers me in the PES videos is the ball physics and the way it animates and moves. The ball has sometimes too high speed in the initial 10-15 meters of a pass or such, and then suddenly slows down way more that it should. Everytime I see a hard through ball I expect it to just run right over the goal line, but it just stops, even if it isn't rolling on the ground and catching some friction that way. Miles after FIFA where the ball really does bahave like it should, sometimes you get those balls that just roll and roll and roll, the PES ball feels more like a beach ball where it moves really fast and then gets caught in the wind resistance after a short while.

We are all here due to Pes.

I hope the new Pes game is brilliant, it looks very very good, and a game worthy of my time, effort and money for the first time in 3 years.

I will also get Fifa, as I enjoy full manual.

Why the fuck not? That is my question. Doesn't it make more sense to make a licensing agreement for FIFA 11 the game as a whole than it is to explicitly say which modes get the user's creative freedom?

The same reason behind them having to seek licensing approval to release screenshots/videos? Don't you think if they've got the rights covered from marketing to post-release content, they wouldn't have to go through a laborious approval process everytime they want to publish new promotional material?

Also, EA's licensing contract stipulates that "company names, sponsored products, brand names, bla bla bla are property of their respective owners" so I'd assume a breakdown of gameplay modes is also part of that agreement as this allows them to see where their properties may or may not be put into use. Netting those all-encompassing FIFA, FIFPro, etc licenses until 2014 does not give EA a free pass on approval for each new feature they come up with and because Creation Centre is far from being a complete product, it's still subject to any licensing issues that may arise.

It always been the kits with those though. And the kits are same ones used by Pro Evo with their licensed teams so the delay is understandable to an extent. But if you take this year as an example it's just very puzzling.

Also, EA's licensing contract stipulates that "company names, sponsored products, brand names, bla bla bla are property of their respective owners" When isn't that the case though? so I'd assume a breakdown of gameplay modes is also part of that agreement as this allows them to see where their properties may or may not be put into use. Netting those all-encompassing FIFA, FIFPro, etc licenses until 2014 does not give EA a free pass on approval for each new feature they come up with For sure, but then if true it raises the question of how UT can have a team using a Liverpool and United kit with a Chelsea logo playing in the Emirates. And that is allowed? I guess the owners of those entities are just that odd with what they allow and don't and because Creation Centre is far from being a complete product, it's still subject to any licensing issues that may arise. Creation center looks like a mode that is only 20% done. EA knows what people wanted so why release this unfinished version? A different issue entirely, but at the same time just as odd. But in other ways it isn't because EA wanted another Tagline for the back of the box.

Just a lot of contradictions.

I never judge a game from a video, gameklip. I see certain things I like and dislike, but can never pass judgment unless I play it, whether it be Fifa, PES, LBP, Dead Space, etc.

Been saying it here a few times that people shouldn't judge Fifa from the very few clips they've seen, when a lot were sulking. I was actually enjoying watching the last one, except the few gripes I have with it which I've mentioned a few times, specially perfect ball control. I honestly think if only this is fixed, it would change Fifa immensely.

True...as for the UT bit, all I'm saying is, each new feature presents itself as separate approval process ie. doesn't matter if the licensing issues have been settled in another feature before. I'm a graphic designer/illustrator by trade and it still boggles me how fickle minded certain marketing dept. can be when dealing with yearly projects.

And why released an unfinished version? Same reason why developers put out betas I guess? Bandwidth usage tests, exploits, etc. And not including it on a disc gives them some leeway as to when the product may end up going final (hopefully not too long because they've yet to bring GameFace out of beta)

Betas are usually more than 50% done. The Gameface beta didn't have much wrong with it last year. This Creation Center beta I would think is meant to show off what EA have been doing for the past year. But to me, it shows me absolutely nothing. Madden on the PS2 let you relocate a team to a new city, build a new stadium and design new uniforms all in their career mode.

Gameface is still in Beta!!! LOL Have they even added any new features to it?

Sums up their marketing since Gamescom. Before that were all going well with the interview vids and some technical explanation vids but since then it's been poor marketing after poor marketing.

Thing is we know what the game is like this year. Last year EA did their great marketing and made us think FIFA 10 was going to be awesome. It wasn't awesome. It was pretty good. So this year we know it probably won't be awesome, but pretty good.

I doubt they did since they've remained quiet on it. Maybe they plan to merge GameFace with Creation Centre for next year, lol...who knows.

Speaking of which, new blog's up: Creating "My Work Team" in Creation Centre
http://www.easportsfootball.co.uk/b...ug/creating-my-work-team-in-creation-centre-2

I hope people use this and make lots of classic players, I can't be arsed to do it. but hopefully I can choose other peoples players and drag and drop them into a team.....Hopefully they do lots of classic Arsenal players :DD

ok, the big difference from this video and the other assisted ones which i liked is simply the players playing the game are much better and composed. That's it.

Doesn't look anymore sim like! Players still moving way too fast for my liking.

The biggest issue that's being talked about in terms of game balance: Players not having to pass backwards or wait and probe is clearly evident here. Every pass is forward and is into space. Do you think we can use realistic tactics to counter this?

The guy that posted this vid said that it's quicker due to the conversion he had to do into flv. I would assume. You can tell it's on fast forward a bit. So with that considered I think the game looks pretty good.

No, the physical speed of the play isn't my problem like i've said a few times before. It's how fast and superhuman like players move and spin and how first touches aren't a factor.

The huge spaces and avenues for counter attacks are all still there.

For me it just seems the same story with FIFA 10 and FWC manual. It's what we expect from what we have seen. I do need to play this game but unfortunately unlike the other game I'm not feeling excited about the demo.

Age old story there. I just don't see why EA would listen now. We have been clamoring for these things since 09 really and they haven't addressed it. I forget whether 08 had this issue? Probably not.

'08 was the closest thing to proper player footing they've ever achieved. Our cries for 'more responsiveness' fell on ears which felt that meant to make the players sprint about with absolutely no problem.

That was one of the great things about 08, players turned and moved very realistically! All players actually had weight!
