Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

No, but there is no error in there. Whatsoever. It looks perfect. We never said passing was a Godly gift and impossible to pull off now, did we? Our concern is that it's too simple to spray balls about with ease with little/nothing the opponent can do to get a word in. Based on recent Fifa's, I think this is a pretty accurate assessment.

Online against abusers looks to be a "pad-bitingly" frustraing experience again.

As long as it's fine for offline as I don't care for online. Never play there.

We need to make EA aware of this and hope they will up the error on them, I fear we are at the boundaries of how far EA are prepared to go on as they see it "alienating their core user"...

In which case I'd be at my boundary of not "going mental on the forum".

Nothing jumps out of that video that makes me excited. Very much like 10.

Couldn't see hardley any error on passes? and there were a few that maybe shouldn't have got to the man as easily as it did imo.

Some of Fabregas touches looked Fabregasesque, so that was nice. Also Ronaldo looked a little distinguishable, but nothing major in that department aswell?

I still can't wait to play it though and see for myself.

Also very dissapointed that the Highlights were not shown, I doubt they have fixed them that much (although I know they have said a few things will improve with them...but to what extent in reality is yet to be seen) and if they haven't I will be very dissapointed.

In what sense? That it has a nice resolution and uses a good codec? In that case I agree.....

Placebo, is it possible to mirror the vid in questio, if you can, please do.

Just a question, I was reading through the pages, when people say the pitches in FIFA are small and crowded, does this include FIFAWC? Reason I'm asking is I find WC pitches to be quite big and they have loads of space and it does take a while to sprint from the box to say, halfway line!

I don't know what others feel about WC game pitch sizes?

Urgh, that looked shite.

EA really do not understand football at all.

I know they have to speed it up and focus on attacking more than in real life because they have to fit a 90 minute match into 10 minutes, but the speed it's at just takes the piss.

Also, why would EA choose that as their official gameplay video? Surely it would have made much more sense to post a match played on semi/manual played at a slower pace with some nice goals in it? It's like they just said "right guys, this next match will be our official gameplay video"... Yeah, really makes sense to advertise the worst part of your game (assisted).

I played FIFA 09, missed 10 and got the WC. I might enjoy FIFA11 because of the gap even if the changes are minimal I think.

What if they gave us 90 minute matches? Would that make the game more life like? If so, I wouldn't mind that.
That would be ridiculous :P - You would only get one game in a session.

Also, the game would have to be ultra-realistic to be balanced over such a long match and to be honest, in a lot of real matches, long periods of it are very boring and I don't really fancy playing a video game that isn't fun, even if it is realistic.

PES was always faster than real football when we all played it, but it wasn't so biased towards attacking - it's like attacking is the main game in FIFA and defending is just an afterthought...

You do really have to wonder who is in charge of PR and releasing these videos.

We wait ages to get a first 'official' glimpse at the gameplay and its a fast, yet relatively dull 1-0 match played at a random small ground we've seen before. The crowd is wildly chanting 'Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal' yet the Emirates isn't in sight.

What EA should be doing is releasing a video of different vignettes of gameplay, great goals, great tackles, amazing runs which back up the promise of personality +, I want to see defensive midfielders breaking up counter attacks and those blessed with the long range shooting trait hitting some scorchers.

By far the most absurd thing about this video to me is that we see one of the much heralded new stadium entrances, yet the Arsenal line up's position totally changes between the 1st and 2nd shot (watch Chamakh No 29 magically teleport) and when the teams shake hands there are only 10 Arsenal players! Sagna is off somewhere grabbing a last minute piss before kick off....

Also and this may be a pet hate but seeing as the WC game had 3d models of substitutes sitting on the bench why have EA TAKEN them out this time around? I'm not asking for fully animated subs and managers on the sidelines (although that would be sweet and add alot to the atmosphere) but when we are seeing the benches in these cut scenes and they are totally empty it just looks so wrong and kills alot of the immersion for me.

Indeed, the PR campaign for Fifa11 has been shockingly bad considering EA Sports usually pull out all the stops, a lot of it is coming across as really amateur, had to laugh at this today:

http://gamersyde.com/news_fifa_11_images_from_career_mode-9879_en.html

Electronic Arts sent us these screenshots from the Fifa 11 career mode.

So they basically took the pics from Marcel's transfers blog post and packaged them up as a press pack to send out!

Of course :)

I'm still amazed by how they have managed to lie so openly about pro passing and its impact on ping pong.I know it's not supposed to kill it entirely but strongly reduce and so far it's as if there isn't much difference.
EA clearly identified ping-pong as a problem and they claimed they found the solution...

Yeah it definately looks the very similar to 10 (or not much different). Especially with top class teams, which is the area where ping pong passing is the real problem.

I like it when I play football and the ball instantly sticks to my feet when I receive a pass.

Fifa 11 looks like my kind of game therefore

For a game that's all about attack attack attack, it really doesn't look particularly exciting or fun.

Good luck, Gary already said they're pushing the limit he's willing to go to with PP. What we want isn't going to happen.(Although we can only assume this video was made after the most recent tweak to PP, right?)

Glad I'm primarily a manual offline player.

Simple: it's targeted at their customer base, who are primarily casual assisted-using tweens.

This is why in my recent posts I've questioned EA's intentions/goals - the evidence is stacked against designing a game with realism and the hardcore fan in mind.

I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt until I play the demo for myself, but they're on a very short leash.

Because this is a MONTH before the game released Dryzer. That's why. I'll judge prematurely because there is a HUGE advantage in doing so.

I've noticed from the vids that defenders and midfielders are really indisciplined in fifa. it leads to wild end-to-end play with little time on the ball at any point due to a lack of space.

The first goal in this vid is nice though:

starts @ 7:10

the new need for speed by criterion looks sick though btw.

Fair enough. But i think all you are doing is winding yourselves up. judging of videos and short playtests of unfinished code are well, yknow pointless :)

Discuss the game by all means but i think theres a fair few on here making their minds up early.

The problem with that gamespot video is that its quite obviously being played on assisted settings. Therefore you cant gauge all the other factors needed to judge the game when the controls are freed.

thats the problem, its too assisted, least they should correct on if you put too much weight or not enough weight on the ball, then this 'ping-pong' passing wouldn't exist, if did, not so frequent

People use what control scheme when they play clubs? Uh you guessed it.... Assisted.

The goal looks very nice.

if you discount Messi did a rabona on his right foot :CONFUSE: and the Dreadful defensive positioning!

Thats one major concern about individuality, all players do theyr tricks with right foot. Since fifa 10 that i´m moaning about this.

This year with individuality, i was hopping this to be fixed, but no.

The same with player shooting. I don´t know what they´re doing all year bragging about personality + and pro passing, we see no real differences, and the TYPE of game remains the same, wich is worrying.

There should be just 2 modes available, SEMI for everyone, and MANUAL for the hardcore ones,

If they in automatic settings can´t make a decent personality effect on players, in semi and auto the personality thing would be even worse, IMHO

Unlike the "other" forum, people here are pretty open minded, so I don't think any, at least not many, of us have passed final judgement so soon before the full game release. Don't forget though, some on here have played the demo and the rest of us have enough experience with FIFA that we can make educated assessments of gameplay footage.

More importantly, there are aspects of the game that can clearly be seen without needing to actually play the game, like poor defensive AI, lack of first touch, little strategic play, passing accuracy, etc. Still, I for one am keeping an open mind until I play the demo, especially considering the fairly positive impressions of those who played the demo last week. And in the end, the vast majority of us will be buying the game I'm sure.

But the louder we yell, the more likely tweaks/changes will get made. As the saying goes, those who remain silent do not get heard.

(Besides, like Nick said, what the hell else are we going to do?)
