FIFA 11 Producer Blog: Career Mode (focuses mainly on the transfer system)

http://www.easportsfootball.co.uk/blogs/offthebench/post/slug/fifa-11-producer-blog-career-mode

Many questions still to be answered but looks pretty solid.

Really happy to hear I'll be able to play Player Manager with my VP and also control the whole squad - Phil totally got that one wrong in his Impressions on the official forums.

I'm surprised he didn't mention the new scout feature, considering I thought it was meant to help you choose players to sign during the transfer window. Maybe the Operation Sports Q&A didn't get things quite right?

Macheda to Valencia is a good loan, but Everton listing Rodwell is outrageous...oh well, I guess we'll always have to be somewhat forgiving of the computer.

so on world class you didnt feel like the A.I were cheating like on previous FIFA games?

Yeah that would be huge for me - in the past it always feels like upping the difficulty only results in the CPU cheating rather than playing more intelligently.

One of those things that can happen when you aren't a dedicate management game I'm afraid. I remember one of the FM's a while back where I signed Walcott from a wealthy Arsenal for £4m or so - they just didn't seem to acknowledge his potential as being very high.

Good job Marcel included screenshots with his write up, otherwise I wouldn't believe a word he said.

It's a tiny and insignificant thing, but I do wish they'd get a native English speaker to write more professional-sounding text in the emails/news items etc. "We're done! Don't contact us anymore."

Otherwise, I like the sound of the improved negotiation process.

I notice there's a kick-off time now. Does that mean all stadiums can now do night/day in accordance with the KO time? I hope so.

I took a look at the stadium preview to check:

Well errm shouldn't 7:45 pm represent a night time kick off?

If so, why is the picture of the stadium overcast?
There was no night version of the Stadium olympik in the previous fifa's and it looks like there won't be one here again

Loved the writeup from Marcel. MM signings look more 'fun'. I like the back and forth, and actual negotiation.
I'm wondering, the email that says something about the board releasing more funds for transfers, does that mean that money from players sold/loaned doesn't automatically go to the transfer budget, or is it just stating that some of your deals went through?

Do you seriously think they've suddenly come up with a brand new AI model? It's exactly the same game as last year, but tweaked. No amount of tweaking will rescue the pile of horse shit they're stuck with for now. CPU play will be the usual cheat-fest...100% guaranteed.

Where did you pre-order it from?

From Game. I had to pay a £5 deposit, but then when FIFA 11 is out. Its £5 cheaper. They gave this small card which says on 'From 2nd September, go to easportsfootball.com/creation centre'

Then it gives you a code which you redeem on the site.

winston, the AI is massively improved it has to be played to be believed on world class its far more of a challenge and less cheating.

the game is similar last year yes,but when the graphic motor as well, not its necessary to create this motor at 0,only improved mate, fifa 10 graphic motor as very important advance to NG game, his engine its very advance, and FIFA 11 motor its similar yes,but very improved, not posible create one motor year after year.

And what we see in the videos will not be the same thing that to play the demo :)

PD: sorry for my very horrible english LoL :)

No it's not. You haven't played it enough and have probably played only friendlies. The principles of the underlying AI model are unchanged. Only a completely new AI model will bring about a genuine step forward - that isn't going to happen on this generation of consoles.

Fifa is dead to winston.:P

One-player against cpu....it was never alive.

Multi-player I expect to be as addictive as ever.

I love you; you're awesome

Why pre-order if you live in the UK?

The last 2 or 3 years it's been about £20-25 on release day in supermarkets... The same will most likely happen this year so it's a waste of money to pre-order it IMO.

you can cancel once you get the creation center code.

Fairs odds on a day early from Game or ShopTo as well. It's a fair bit more though, it is a little bit painful. At least I got a good price on F12010.

I wouldn't order from Shopto. I had my credit card details cloned last year, however I gave the benefit of doubt because I had used that card to order from other companies. However another card was cloned few weeks back, I know that this has happened because of Shopto, I have only used that card with them, never used it to purchase anything else from anywhere nor I have done online banking with that card.

They may get you games early at competitive prices, but for me they are a bunch of thieving gits.

They are investigating it, I have told them that this could only have happened from Shopto, they have checked my purchase history and agree because I have only bought from Shopto using that card. Luckily it is a credit card and therefore is insured, but that still doesn't make it right, there are a lot of stories on the net about this happening to people using Shopto.

Anyone know if these are the real traits that'll be in FIFA 11? Someone claiming to be a data editor posted these on the official forums (not sure if they're meant to be all of them):

Whether or not these are authentic, couple questions regarding traits come to mind:

1. I wonder whether traits will add anything to the player or are traits only for identification/window-dressing purposes. Meaning, if a player has the "Flair" trait, what difference does that make relative to another player with the same stats but does not have the Flair trait? I guess I'm asking what's the point/purpose of traits?

2. Are traits permanent? In CM, for example, as a young player develops or an older player declines, are traits added/subtracted? I could imagine this would be an issue, especially if you're ten years into a career and you're mostly playing with computer-generated players, or if you like to start with lower league teams, like I do, and work your way to the top relying a lot on the development of cheap young players.

Once again, the CPU doesn't "cheat" against the user controlled player. There are no "scripted" unstoppable goals scored by the CPU against the user. The CPU is bound by the same rules as the player and takes advantage/disadvantage of the same bugs available for all.

I ask (yet again) for video proof of cheating. Show me proof, and I will listen.

Max, permanent traits is an interesting question. I think they're fixed in both games? Northzzz may be able to confirm if that was the case in pes 2010.

Quite a few of those are old. A lot of those mental traits have been around since 09 at least. So I don't know, it's kind of weird how they've been in the game for a while and they haven't mattered. Now all of a sudden they matter? Some I'm sure will but I don't know about all of them. Best example for this is the avoid using weak foot. I'm sure Messi has it but he still crosses with his right when coming from that side and crosses pretty well at that. I would much rather have Messi do a rabona or an outside the boot cross. I don't think you can to an outside the foot cross though?

The selfish trait and media darling could be interesting. You the likes of Ronaldo always going for glory and when scoring looks to celebrate with his attitude of "look at me" and avoiding his teammates during the celebration as a result. The traits have always had potential, I just don't think they've covered that many of them.

Some are odd in that I don't see how hey can be implemented. Like what is a couunter attacker in FIFA? What differentiates a counter attacker from a wing player?
