Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

Regarding that "Be a keeper video": I think I remember somebody saying that the keeper controls feels intuitive, but looking at that video the guy isnt even close to saving anything that is not rolling calmly straight towards him. Is he just shit or is that mode more to the difficult side?

I only had a couple of goes and it's definitely one of those things you will have to learn...

The ball looking odd is due to the white bleed on the videos, look at the white socks etc, it's fine when you see it for yourself...

Can i play Be goalkeeper with my friend on arena when i play offline 1vs1 ? or its only online and human/cpu ?

I hope that Be A Keeper requires prior knowledge of goalkeeping skills in real life to achieve success. It looks very urm press the button when you want to dive and he'll dive somewhere random towards the left or right at the moment. I'm sure it is but it doesn't look that much more complex than PES' GK control where you press a button to dive when you want to.

A big part of goalkeeping is positioning and timing. Making yourself look big during one on ones and running towards the oncoming attacker (i mean in real life you'd struggle to save a shot one v one really if the attacker was really trying to score without any defense to help you).

Does anybody know if shooting has been altered? If i want to put the ball low on the ground during a one v one then can i? In real life it's by far the most effective way to score 1 v 1s but on Fifa 10 it was a lottery as to how high the ball would go even if you made sure you tapped the shoot button as minimally as you could.

Also conveniently enough low fierce shots along the floor are by far the most difficult for GK's to save (because you need to get down low quickly) so i hope that is something they've taken into account with the new Be A GK.

AND PLEASE SAY GK's CAN MAKE SAVES WITH THEIR LEGS

Am i the only one that thinks the new look menus look worse?

It's still clearly the same layout but they removed the boxes and added this pretty horrible font, i think it looks messy.

Thoughts?

Only got the demo to play so we don't know this yet, I'm going to get some time next week fingers crossed to look at the CM stuff so i may find out then, I would think it's almost a certain yes you will be able to though... :))

you guys must have played past iterations of fifa. was it in the normal Cups/Leagues to be able to control CPU teams?

No, it's down to licences, which is odd seeing as both kits are licenced... :CONFUSE:

Even more odd considering you can mix and match uniforms in Madden, which of course is also fully licensed.

(Note: I haven't played Madden in years but this is what I've been told, but you did have this option when I played it, some years ago.)

It makes absolutely no fucking sense their explanation.I mean real football teams mix them shirts, shorts and socks.
It's not as if it's something not done by real teams. It's a retarded way of justifying.

I know, it was a great feature in the early PES and WE's too, this is the excuse both KONAMI and EA have given, though sadly I can imagine some petty club moaning or wanting more money if that option is in the game...

Just checked you can play with a team each in the cup or league and you can take over the CPU against your team mates team...

great Nick. anyway, Nick, just a personal question to you, have you played PES5/6 before? How do you think Fifa 11 compares against it gameplay-wise after your recent tests? need some way to convince myself the switch is worth it. :APPLAUD:

I was a dyed in the dyed in the wool, PES fan(boy), well WE mostly but I would never have even dreamed of switching even with my hate of the ML fantasy league structure until the fateful PES2008...

It took a month or more to cross to the dark side, for me they are or were two different animals, I think FIFA has moved on a great deal since then and the gap and learning curve between the two has narrowed! All I would say is give it time, a week of even solid playing is not really enough, I'd advise the same for anyone going to PES from FIFA too, you have to stop playing FIFA like PES and visa versa, and this does not happen overnight...

Now I'm FIFA:PIRATE: the main thing keeping me here is the full leagues as I play MM over anything else, and I love bringing a lower league team on...

From the playtime I got FIFA 11 is a step in the right direction, I know some of us more core players were hoping for a leap but it is better, as for the new CM's I'll hopefully find out more next week, hope that helps?...

Edit: the double dye is not a double post I was that much of a fan, I once posted "FIFA sucks ass big time" somewhere I'm sure... :P
