Impressions and questions on impressions in the impressions thread. Questions thread has been locked. Won't delete it because it contains all the pre-impressions questions.

This Fifa 11 thread is for everything regarding Fifa 11 apart from the Festival of Fifa impressions. It's just easier to have everything in that thread instead of going through everything in here.

So what, they straight-up lied to us?

I've been waiting for some new announcements, thinking surely there's gotta be more to come. When people wonder why some of us can get so worked-up over EA, this is an example why and reminds me of MM last year - at times it feels like they're just fucking with you, whatever it takes to get your cash money.

**Edit: I just realized, are you saying no more features/modes for CM, or for the game as a whole?

I think it's new features in general, cos last I checked, they were supposed to release a new video on stamina (then again they were supposed to release a blog explaining more on CM if I recall correctly). Maybe we'll see other innovations like player traits covered in that upcoming video as well...

Well the press release says "New game modes and innovations will be revealed later this month" and this month ends in a week. I just find it hard to believe there's more game modes to come. I mean, how many do we friggin need? How about focusing on the ones we got first?!

And what I was asking Nick is whether Rutter was talking only about CM or the game as a whole when he said no new features were to be announced, because that would contradict the press release.

I guess we can expect a new stamina system, so that would be one, but last year there were things they said would be in the game that they ended up leaving out of the final code, so I'll wait to see it before I believe it. Especially if it's not going to make it into the demo.
 
I think this guy has point:

More sidestepping of the central issue, more lame excuses and frankly I've heard all of this before. Top players don't get every pass perfect, I'm not saying passes should be going out for throw-ins but now and again you would expect a pass to be slightly behind a player for example, forcing them to check their run - especially in a contextually difficult situation. You shouldn't have to go through videos with a tooth-comb to find the odd example where you might possibly argue that PP had an effect on the outcome, it should be plainly obvious.

I won't allow people, especially playtesters to dodge this point.

This video shows contextual error on first time passes even for top players. It's not just been toned down, it's been wiped out - the GC videos show almost no examples of this directional variation and from the Emirates reports people have said they have only noticed weighting variation.

I think we learned an important lesson yesterday - the vids are not reliable sources for accurate gameplay impressions.

Everyone that's posted their impressions have been generally positive about gameplay, and they all have said PP and P+ clearly has an impact on the game, just maybe not as much as some of us would like.

Which brings up an entirely different debate - if you read Gary Paterson's posts on the official forums last night, he's very clear in his belief that a large portion of FIFA players would be turned off if these new features add too much error and difficulty to the game.

At this point, though, I'd suggest having faith in what the guys on here have posted, disregard the GC vids, and wait for demo.

I think that will be the case, there are some bits and pieces yet to be talked about in depth and as I posted we have yet to see any CM mode so there may be somethings in there that we know nothing of but Rutter presumes we have seen!...
 
Ok, I'm just fed up with the talking, i want to test this game for myself. It's like EA and many people who preview the game say one thing.

yet the videos show something totally different from what was described!

One thing I can say is the pace is not what you saw on the videos, if you sprint like a whore everywhere and ping everything it's a quicker game than if you pass the ball around for sure, but it's not fast...

And as in everything what people want from the game will be different, for every one who says it's too fast there are those that say it's too slow?...
 
just played ultimate team final and all the guy did was ping pong passing non stop and u cant even get near the ball, i swear, if fifa don't fix this, then fifa 11 will not be getting a purchase at all.

i'm sick of putting in the disc tray and as soon as i go online, see the same type of passing and the exact same run to the by line and cut back passing.

We haven't seen anything like this error. It's almost like they HAD to film it at his desk to minimize the risk of Rutter walking and noticing that they have error in his precious "casual-gamer" creation. :FAIL:

Play manual, mate... Only manual saves fifa, and i don´t know why this year it will be different.
 
but you can't play manuel matches online via ultimate team i don't think? everyone else is fully assisted, its a horror show half the time
