Looks like Gary needs press for an Arcade/Sim split for FIFA 12 and give us the error in this video. I've seen NOTHING like this in the videos and I still don't agree with making the game ridiculously easy so people who have no interest in the sport will suddenly want to play.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine that if I keep trying to make this pass or shot with one guy 10 times and it never works, and I give it to this guy and try it and it's on the money..."hey, maybe this guy is better at passing/shooting and I should try and get him the ball in the right spot." That doesn't even have anything to do with soccer. "Hey this Joey Graham guy can't dribble or shoot, but this Kobe Bryant dude seems to be amazing at both, let me give him ball more often one the offensive end of the court..."
Honestly, I almost completely forgot about that video but I remember how excited I was when I first saw it. As someone said earlier though, they've pretty much turned it off.
+1 Well said. Players will learn. So they are basically afraid if they make the game realistic and difficult (difficult meaning passes can be misplaced) the casual fan will run away? It just seems so insane. Like you say, they dont make everyone shoot/dunk the same in NBA 2K because they don't want players getting frustrated that they can't hit a jump shot with Eddy Curry.
I think the only way to fix this, if they really want to have their cake and eat it too, is to have difficulty level be associated with different settings. They allow this in Madden, you can play online on All-Madden or All-Pro etc. Essentially if you play Pro level (can't remember what the level below world class is) it's on assisted, passing error is lower, all the things they don't want to put in the game because it would take a brain to understand etc. World Class is semi, which has all the hardcore settings minus being on manual, then Legendary can be Manual.
This will also give people an incentive to try these settings because 'good players' don't want to be on the weenie ladder, they want to be with the best players. Right now, to get Semi, people have to actively start a game and go find semi and change it, and for most people there's no reason to do it. This way you don't force anyone to do it, but if you want to play with the big boys, you have to.
I think the game is going to be a lot of fun this year but it's so frustrating that it could be so much better but certain aspects have to be dumbed down for casuals. The only other answer would be sliders, but they won't have sliders online so I think this would be a better option, though I hope next year for sliders as well regardless
