FIFA 10

To be fair though Chris the FIFA 10 ones are close ups rather than 09 being further away, Nonetheless they are improved.

I find Dribbling harder with tricks now! In 09 the rigid feel was a lot easier for me to judge, while now just moving the stick slightly in a different direction will move your player, Will take time to get used to the 360 dribbling compared to basic 16.

It was 8 in 09, 16 for one touch while sprinting... Such a big (and very welcome) advancement to have 360 and it will certainly take time to get used to, our thumbs will be used to just be pointing in 8 directions after footy games being that way since the very beginning :P.

Ah, nice. Someone figured how to zoom right in like i've been doin. :)

It looks much improved on some models. The Fifa10 models look like they've stayed off the pies too.

Ok, I've worked out how to take the different types of corner. Some of you may have known this all along but I've certainly been asking this on various forums for years with no joy, only other people also asking how it's done. I don't know if these controls would have worked on FIFA 09 or 08, in fact.

Basically the instructions are missing an extra press of the lob pass button (I'll say O instead of the lob pass button since I use PES controls on PS3). All of the multi-taps have to be pretty quick as well; luckily they don't have any impact on the final gauge so you can machinegun away without fear of ballsing it up.

To take a driven corner, double tap O and then press and hold O to charge up the gauge. That's three button presses in total.

To take a corner along the ground, triple tap O and then press and hold O to charge up the gauge. That's 4 button presses in total.

Having just switched the PS3 off I've remembered what I was supposed to do - save videos of these corner types! :D Anyway, the driven corner is very low and hard indeed. It never gets above crossbar height. I almost scored when I accidentally discovered it, as the ball flashed across the corridor of uncertainty and Ibra toe-poke volleyed it wide when he should have scored. Having tried it a couple more times, you can get some swerve on these, but obviously not nearly as much as on high corners. I've not had enough goes with it to experiment with holding up or down to change the trajectory as with normal corners.

The one along the ground is, obviously, along the ground. I've had people run in at the near post and try to turn it in but in two attempts I haven't been able to beat the man on the near post or the keeper. I've not really experimented with aiming for other parts of the area yet but it seems perfect for the Sheringham corner. Once we have custom set pieces to play with these should all become quite useful.

I've tried the low ball from a free kick with no luck. It might not be possible, in which case we'd have to just be very clever with the driven shot.

Thanks man, that post really helps. EA really should have a tutorial detailing all their advanced moves. Many have yet to be discovered to be honest.

right, ive downloaded all the parts, got a +r now what burning tool should i use (free please :) ) and with what settings etc.? Ive downloaded starburn and had the option of disc type iso/udf but couldnt change the burn speed so it did it at 8x. probably simplest if anyone whos got it to work tells me how they did it! :D cheers

oh, it worked, at 8x speed somehow. by the way for those it didnt work when i went into my games i couldnt see it on the demo list, i had to specifically go to the demos and trials page. off to play it :D

EDIT :: you can see unlockables... Through Ball is unlockable WTF ???? I hope there is not some super through ball trait...

Probably the same trait certain creative footballers have "Specialist - Through Ball Player is known for playing through balls often (the killer pass)" it's simply going to mean that he's better than the average player at playing through balls, but it'll still be stat based, a player without the trait but with 90 passing/90 vision will be better at through balls than someone with 50 passing/50 vision but has the trait.

Hope so Placebo.... Not gonna help me much as i've promised myself i'm gonna try and be all manual this year...

either way the mode looks good....

Also noticed in the online menu its says Friends Leagues any idea what this is ????

Just want to post this in the main thread as well if it's ok, because I know there are some non-demoers that might be interested or willing to vote!

Like Leo said, PLEASE VOTE FOR "IT'S TOO FAST" IN THE FOLLOWING POLL:

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/...peed-thoughts-comments-vote-here-discuss.html

This will make or break the final game, it will be the difference between an enjoyable online mode which rewards patient build up play or a button mashing sprint fest.

There is an actual EA staff member on the forum listening to what people say in response to this thread, so DO WHATEVER IT TAKES, comment on the thread, register multiple accounts and vote more than once if you have the time, it really is that important. Even if you are holding out on playing the demo, still go in and vote because the final game will be so much better for it!

This is what I posted on there:

MunrajHyare you are a legend! I hope our concerns make it to Dave Rutter and the dev team and it would be simply awesome if it can be tweaked for the final game, if not for release then in a post-launch patch.

Here is my post on the subject, which a few people seemed to agree with

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/11235513-post80.html

I can surmise that the following factors are contributing most prominently to the game speed issue:
- Constant AI pressure even in non-threatening areas of the pitch
- Instant trapping even when controlling fast moving balls
- Sprinting tackles are too effective so players are not encouraged to jockey
- First time passes are too powerful/accurate
- AI Crosses from deep positions too powerful

I hope that helps and gives some ideas on what can be done to improve the game!

We have a real chance to put pressure on them to make these changes so get to it! :) :)

If you guys read Trance's post in that thread, he makes some good points about why he thinks certain aspects of the game accelerate the game too much and that the game speed itself is fine. AI pressure and passing ability is certainly unrealistic though.

Am i the only person who doesnt see a difference between auto and semi? they look the same as far as i can see thats why i been playing on full manual instead.

I noticed hardly any difference in assisted and semi passing on 09, you could still play ping-pong football with semi... Maybe 95/100 would be successful rather than 100/100...

Crossing and shooting (only two others with semi setting) are definitely very different on semi though compared to assisted.

I've hardly played on anything other than manual on the FIFA 10 demo, I put it on semi shooting a couple of times but then switched back to manual :).

I'm glad there's a SEMI setting for crossing. Sure come the final game I will switch to manual crossing when I master it but for the demo and (important) for casual matches with friends that doesn't love manual everything it surely comes in handy.

Abotu auto and semi passing, I see some differences, in semi you must be a tad more precise and you can put the pass a little to space (a little short or a little far) depending on the power.

I think it's great to have so many choices. One of the winning key factors of Fifa ofr me.

yea in passing there is not any difference but in shooting there is. i also find crossing to have no difference at all as well.

im enjoying playing on manual. i scored by first ever goal on the demo last night, i had all settings on manual besides crossing.

How i scored was a cross from Henry from the left side and a sweet volley from just inside the box with messi on MANUAL!!!

i couldnt believe it! checked my settings again to make sure it was mostly done on manual lol
