FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

Bojan hasn't played in my demo yet, it would be nice if the CPU changed their formation mid game and had a better substitution logic as Drekkard mentioned.

Now I know you can beat players I am stuck in the mode of always trying to do tricks to get past someone. I just cant help it. Gladly it doesnt work every single time!!

Dunno where you got the idea I was acting as if I was personally attacked. Just pointing out that two people in quick succession calling up what is, statistically at least in terms of frequency of occurrence, an isolated incident, is quite petty.

To qualify this - I had been been watching from an iPhone and didn't see the latter part of the video, where you get a better sense of the amount of pace in the shot. Having seen the latter part, then yup, the pace generated is unrealistic.

However, yes, it does seem petty to call out moments that are comparatively scarce when there are more pressing matters that should be addressed by EA. Statistically, hundreds of games of FIFA 10, 11 or 12 will throw up various situations in which the animations are not perfectly suited to the occasion. If the location of the ball in relation to the player is as unscripted as EA have tried to make it, then of course you will see the odd weird animation. There are limitations to what you can achieve with technology, after all. If the vast, vast majority of animations correctly match up to the resultant trajectory of the ball then personally I find it a lot easier to let the odd minor discrepancy go. Nobody should be expecting technological perfection, so we should at least be forgiving when it's bloody good and there's nothing gamebreaking to worry about.

If one of you had commented on it then I'd not have bothered responding. However, given that Lami has been exclusively positive elsewhere, I did feel inclined to pick him up on his mock incredulity.

Petty? So were supposed to ignore the odd irregular animation because they get it right most times? Why? It seems to make more sense to highlight those and to say 'Hey, EA... fix this problem and the game will be closer to perfection' rather than 'nah we're okay with that problem because you have nailed it elsewhere'.

For me, something like incorrect animations can ruin a great goal. If I cross the ball into the box and the header animation looks like it has no power behind it and yet the ball rockets away at an irregular angle it ruins the believability of the goal. Here the guy side foots the shot, the ball moves away in a forward direction and then miraculously swerves at the last minute into the goal. EA brag that the ball is free and all the physics and so on are calculated and then turned into what we see on screen, nothing is pre determined and scripted. Yet here the ball curls and rockets away with hardly any reason behind it. It pains me to see that because I don't want to score a once in a lifetime great goal only for something a stupid as the animation of the shot to ruin it. If he'd smashed the snot out of that ball on the outside of his boot you'd have been leaping out of your chair if you had scored it. Seeing him side foot it with no force behind just makes me go. 'oh I scored... how did that go in?'

They can easily fix the problem by just removing that animation from being used when shooting at goal from distance and with power. That kind of animation is for a close range tap in goal really. I don't think pointing that out and wanting it changed can be classed as petty. Especially as EA are very open to feedback and the 'problem' isn't that big a deal. Petty in my book is complaining about purely aesthetic things like 'untucked shirts, ,wrist tape, ankle tape etc...'.

I don't disagree. A believable animation married with the right shot type really makes a goal special. I don't see Chris passing this issue on from here, as 99% of the time it's not an issue. If you want EA to improve this then by all means leave a note in their Demo Feedback forums.

Again, I thought the manner in which Lami in particular replied was not at all consistent with his recent posts, which is what compelled me to respond.

How do you do layoffs again? Can't remember, everytime I add a 2nd player he doesnt do anything and the original player passes the ball. For example Lampard is the FKtaker and I want to add a second player to tap it wide for Lampard to run onto. ATM Lampard is always kicking the ball regardless of the 2nd player.

Some great videos, really like the DoF effect in the close ups. Its abit too much in normal replays imo but still an improvement.

LT/L2 + Pass.

You need to hold L2/LT while you press to choose the second player in the free kick, then still hold it while you press X/pass and it lays the ball off.

anybody allready managed that flick up with the players back to the goal? i saw it in one of those skill tut videos, but could not pull it of yet.

to pull it off you have to hold down L2/LT ( slow dribble) on 360 and tap R1 on PS not sure what it is for 360

Well, I don't know about freekicks, but agree with the goals and corners. The referee should be blowing up for fouls. Not literally, of course, but moreso on his whistle.

Apologies I actually meant goal kicks, brain ahead of fingers, of course free kicks should have the whistle blown and it's virtually the only time the whistle is blown except for when there's some confusion between players or whatever, the whistle is blown so that players stop what they're doing and look at the referee so he can indicate what his decision is and who it's given to.

Has anyone managed to do the "bridge" move yet (knocking it around the opposition player and running onto it)?

I can't seem to do it, which is frustrating.

I think its inclusion is nice but its execution is shit. The flick is weak and the following volley is also poor, so far I've only managed to hit the post but I couldn't hit the ball powerfully

Yeah. To be honest I forgot about it but last night did with Messi against Ashley Cole.

How do you pull it off (Oo-er) ?

In the guides on Youtube, it says you should flick forward on the right analogue without holding L1/L2. I've tried this, to no avail. It just seems to... well, do nothing, really.

It's about timing and positioning and I think it's good like that. You can't just pull it off at will like for instance a stepover
