FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

FIFA10 Demo is hellavu fun. I can't imagine the final version getting any better than it already is. After having played the other game's demo for hrs of frustration, I was so releived when I played the FIFA10 Demo. So much freedom and many different ways to create plays and score goals. It was like a breath of fresh air to play a game with no restrictions or scripted crap. Especially since I play in all-manual. I am still a bit dissapointed with the nets animation as well as how small the players look on the pitch, but that's a minor thing compared to how awesome the game is.

I scored a beauty today with Anelka earlier. Lamps passed me the ball just inside the box seconds after I had triggered the run and since that's all I had, "seconds" in the face of an oncoming goalie, I immediately pressed the RT sprint to push the ball around him and cruised for a calm, cool, and collected finish and then ran off doing the Airplane celebration with style.

Also, I scored my first 30m goal with Lamps which was a sight to behold..

I can't wait for the game to come out. That's all I will be doing in my off time, playing FIFA10, since the other game will obviously turn out to be a disaster just like MADDEN 2010 which I returned with no regrets.

Let's FIFA10 everyone!

hopefully konami comes out with a new engine next year. i dont like pes since pes 2007 came, i love fifa since 09 came out. but im not a fanboy of none i will get the one that looks the best.I have to admint fifa 10 has the potential to be the best sports game ever, it just need small touches to make it a little more real. maybe ea will surprise us all with the final version.

Flores, FIFA demo is months old as usual. It's a rough idea of what the final game will be like. I remember the 08 and 09 demos paled compared to the final releases. About the camera, obviously you'll be able to select in the full game. What I love the most about FIFA 10 demo is how fluid it is. Smooth as butter. The 360 degree turning coupled with the smooth and fast framerate and the animations = superb. IMO only, not all, but most pes diehards are clinging onto their past. They attach previous memories to every pes regardless how bad. It's a loyalty that has nothing to do with the state of the game. A lot of these people would give up footy games if konami went out of business. They see FIFA as the enemy. As an evil corporation. I just don't get it. I guess that's the soul they talk about. Who knows? All I know is that controlling robot players is so ps2. I can sum up the two games very simply by saying " Organic vs. Robotic".

So has anyone defined what 'soul' means in relation to football games and why some say PES has so much of it and Fifa has none, because I really don't understand that concept.

I like Fifa 10 more than PES, but Fifa does lack a "soul." Fifa feels very corporate, with EA branding all over the place. All EA sports games have this problem, not just Fifa.

I lost my soul with pes6. That may be the reason why I like Fifa more than PES from the 08 version...

I think that Seabass is a genius. He hired 200 extra programmers this year to keep the good soul programming in PES. Of course, because all of the resources were put into SOUL DEVELOPMENT, there are other areas of the game that didn't receive the necessary attention, such as: scripted passing and shooting, AI, collision detection, reaction times, animation engine as a whole, goalkeepers, ball deflections and baywatch running.

But hey, who would want all that right when you can spend one more year developing soul improvements and collecting the cash anyways?

Hum, they tell me sales are decresing eeach year. Maybe we're not putting enough henchmen into the SOUL DEPARTMEN lab! Come on boys, take 1 more people out of every other department and put them into the SOUL on for pes 2011!

It missing something but I can't put the finger on it. LMAO.
Come on we all know what you really want to say.

Maybe it's these points..

*Soulless
*Individuality
*Magic
*That feeling
*Lack of control

LOL. What ever that means. ;)

You know what your just a classic flamer.

That list you made is an attempt to turn this thread in to another PES v FIFA slanging match and is immaturity of the highest order.

I dont know what "soul" means.
There is definately some individuality.
It captures some magic of football.
There is a feeling of realism when spraying the ball about.
The controls are nice and the response times are superb.

All IMO.

Stop being such an assumptious dick and let people have thier say without the need for trying to stir up a hornets nest.

Today is a day to turn your anger to Tevez and little city, not another PES vs FIFA debate.

Dont forget priorities!!

ant0n, i suppose your avatar is you...well you look like Bendtner...

i liked that goal vondave.

As to FIFA-PES: i've given up on PES. I still like the PSP version, but i won't bother with the other ones unless my six year old son wants to play it...

EA games are not soulless (is that correct ?). I've always been a huge fan of the SSX series, to me that was maybe the game that had most "soul", i've ever played...anyway, what i think is "soul", but don't ask me to define it...

I scored this cracker last night. Essien volley with his left foot that curled into the far corner. Unfortunately i wasnt connected to EA Servers so couldnt upload it so i captured the footage on my mobile, hence the poor quality. Has to be my best goal as far.

Wow! Amazing volley. Ball physics are great in the game, specially compared to Fifa 09. EA is doing a hard work with this franchise. Respect for them.

I loveed the way the ball deflected up in the air, felt very free so i thought id give it a lash. I love the way this can be done now in 10. It would never have worked in 09.

Very nice, can I just suggest for next time you include a replay where the camera is locked on Essien rather than following the ball, you get a far better sense of the ball's movement that way and it looks much more like a real goal replay IMO :)

About the "soul" definition, it's easier than people makes it: simply it's the connection and addiction to the game. For that you need to master the game and need the game to be well done in terms of diversity and controls.

A lot of PES fans won't find "soul" in Fifa because they are unable to master the controls and want things to happen in a regular basis. They expect things to happen regularly and easy.

To find "soul" in Fifa you need to master manual controls and play long matches, do slow build up and know that amzaing things will happen now and then not REGULARLY (as it does in the real sport).

To me, playing 10 minute halves does the trick in 09 and when something extraordinadry happens I'm satisfied even if it's a sparky moment in out of 10 minutes. I've done it myself, it's me who created this. I can only imagine what it will be with the 10 version, which only in the demo promsies a lot more things to do and expect.

In PES, this things happen again and again in the lapse of 5 minutes, and most of the times, as a gamer, I only pressed pass in vague directions and shot button without the game neeeding any kind of refined control from me. I don't get any connection to it and the "wow" moment is lost because I know it's the cpu who did all. Add to that lousy collisions detection, AI glitches galore, shallow control method and I won't find any soul to it.

Many PES fans will say, "look what messi did here", instead of "look what I've done".

So, if you want a easy to play game or you don't want to take time to master a deep control setup, you won't find soul in Fifa. It needs a set of skills that go further than pressing two buttons and shooting and expecting things to "happen". You have to make them happen.

YouTube - Essien volley

nice!

still wich you could save to HDD for the reason you say. Also when you score a great goal like that it would be good to save it knowing you can adjust camera angles etc later on, and get on with the game.

Say waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah?! :SMUG:

I have played both demo now. This is my first next-gen football experience. I've been playing lot of PES2009 in my PC and PS2 and enjoyed it very much. I was hoping that PES2010 in my PS3 can satisfy me the way it did in PC version. The first time I tried FIFA10 demo, I felt so unfamiliar with the control and decided that the responsiveness is worse than PES2009 PC. The 3 min match length did not help me to familiarize the game. Feeling a bit disappointed with the FIFA10 demo, I had a high hope for PES2010 demo. I tried to play it for more than 20 games in top player difficulty. Although I found the graphic, the tactical side and the player models was superbly done, but the responsiveness and the game play killed the fun. I missed how I can pass freely and create the "magic" that I want. Ive been trying to play both demos but in the end I prefer FIFA10 demo as it offered me the freedom that Ive been wanting. My only wish is that FIFA can build more in depth tactical side like what PES has done with the sliders. I am playing in intermediate difficulty with semi-manual control. I cannot imagine how much more freedom that I could get if I successfully master the manual control as has been described so many times in this forum.

Just my demo experience. I hope I dont insult anyone and Im sorry for my bad English.

cheers =)

Did PES have sliders before Fifa or did PES take it from last years Fifa 09 year and make it work better?

It was the latter. It'll be interesting to see what EA do with the custom tactics tutorials, as they were saying that a lot of people complained about a number of AI deficiencies in 09 that would have been resolved if the player had just set up their sliders properly (the example they gave was the lack of numbers attacking crosses into the box- put your crossing slider up more to get this).

Yeah when i was certain teams i put width up to full and made players from centre mid attack more when the crosses are put in (with the crossing slider as you said) and it worked well

And when you change your defensive line to deep or high and choose them to press alot or stand off you can definitely see it in motion

I just think the feature wasn't used alot at all

I usually think of the EA Sports on the scoreboard as their version of the Sky Sports logo or ESPN, just branding for the TV production.

That being said, I'd prefer proper adboards, but that goes without saying really.

Edit: They had proper adboards in the Champions League game, certainly added to the overall atmosphere of the game.
