FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

Played the demo a few times now and I have to say it is one of the worst football games Ive played in years.

Passing is terrible its a 50/50 chance whether it goes to the desired player or not, through balls seem very inconsistent, tackling is too easy and makes the games scrappy, the dribbling is a leap backwards with players forgetting to take the ball with them when striding past players or just heading in the complete opposite direction to where you asked, (usually running the ball straight out of play for a throw), the game is constantly stopping and starting for nothing fouls and the goalkeepers are very prone to making howlers.

Very poor in my opinion, glad to hear that the proper version has been improved since, but no way will I be buying this game without renting it first.

However, my mate has it and he says his is fine, with only a few of those problems rarely occurring. He played mine and agreed with me that it was terrible and much worse than his, so perhaps I have a very frustrating version of the demo!

lol, that was terrible and completely off-the-mark. I'm much more concerned about issues that can make or break a game, like horrendous player marking.

Also, are there any videos of people putting together some slick one-touch plays?

That goes to show what people want in games really

Passes going to players every time, Through balls work all the time, Adrcady, PES

Passes going astray, Through balls only work when the time is right, Simulation, Fifa

He obviously wants a easy arcade style Football game. I want a sim hence the reason i like FIfa :)
 
I've never seen this mentioned anywhere before but Wembley is wrong. The roof goes all the way around. In the demo (and in 09) there are gaps in the roof at the goal ends.

Not that I give a fuck because does it affect the gameplay? No, it doesn't. It's just something I noticed and I'm hoping fucks some of your minds up as I know how some of you get about this type of stuff.

Not buying the game now that I've noticed that to be honest.

PES might be on rails and might take all the control away from you, minimising the user input entirely, but at least it's got Old Trafford in and there's no DISGUSTING, PATHETIC mistakes like this in the stadia. Beggars belief that only PES are concentrating on the graphics more than the gameplay. I mean, you can't SEE gameplay anyway so what's the point? Really pissed off now. FFS EA UR FKIN SIHT.

FIFA doesn't even have Stephen Ireland's new car in it FFS. I've booked a lobotmoy to erase the good times I have had with the demo in disgust.

Edit: Lobotmoy :D I'm sure that was one of the Russian players in PES 2.

i kno rite? ffs ive PLAYED real football n i kno wat it shud feel like. i was on trial at aldershot 4 ages n ages. i even scored a goal wiv my arse once. so i kno wat football is n dis aint football ffs. u cnt even see on der stats wat car dey drive liek u sed. n wen i press shoot sumtimes it misses WTF??? n when i pass too. was rly lukin 4wad to dis but der u go. pes wins agen innit. cnt wait 2 be barca n real mardid n kick ass online wiv da latest exploits!!! i fukin luv real always av since i was 5!!! cnt wait 2 go 2 da barnabau wen im olda. my parents pormised dey wil take me wen im 8.

I think you are all right here , everyone from his perspective off course. The only thing that bothers me with Fifa 10 and manual controls (and Fifa 09 also) is that they dont give you the chance to utilise more than one camera (2 at least) or give you the opportunity to create your custom cameras and use them in different situations.

Examples.....

When i am using tele cam i can see teammates that are far and give them some nice long balls but its difficult to maintain close control because of the distance of the camera.

Dynamic is better to maintain close control but its way more difficult to give long balls and accurate through passes.

End to End would be very usefull if it would give you more options. I would love to see a more "dynamic" end to end camera.

Pro camera sucks big time. Its the worst camera and you really cant control properly your player.


So for me one huge improvement would be a custom camera.
 
Regarding the DoF (depth of field), I must be the only one who likes it in the game, I swear! It looks sweet and adds a touch of realism to the the replays. In the old game the crows was razor sharp even when your 100 yards from them and that simply isn't the case if you ever watch Sky Sports replays (from cameras closer to the players.

The crowd being slightly blurred allows for more detail on the players due to it lightening the load on the LoD (level of detail) system.

This is an example of the newly great heading system, like some already mentioned: timing,height and stats are key.This isn't a goal but I've never seen anything close to that on 09 (sorry for the poor quality of the image)

Yeah the heading is really good now

Many a time i have had a free header and missed it or its just sliced off the top of his head

Alot more skill in it now

Comparing fifa10 to pes5 sounds like blind hope to me as it has none of the tactical scope or player individuality of the pes series.As for fifa10s new found freedom of movement which isnt that free and differs very little from 8-axis i think your slightly diluded.

You cant spout on about how poor you felt pes2009 was but despite its flaws it did present a more realistic game of football that i feel went over your head as you prefer a more casual product that provides cheap thrills at the expense of realism.

The animation of fifa10 is not that good nor is the 360 movement and the more the fifa10 demo is played its flaws and instant hook gameplay become more apparent which is ideal for newbies and the casual gamer but doesnt provide the layers of depth that pes at its best does.

Whats clear this year is ea hit the pinnacle of there talent last year in fifa09 and had one good year that they have failed to follow up on this year.

Pes2010 is so far ahead of fifa10 interms of graphics,physics and gameplay and is simply more of a accurate depiction of the sport that will eclispe your new found love fifa.

how the fuck can that 1-2 video that we saw of PES a bit ago look anything like real football or the physics be anywhere near true to life

For anyone to say PES has more realism than Fifa has a screw loose

On another note i aint a Fifa fanboy its just clear to see which game offers the most realism and that's all i'm after

Well this was my response:

Well it's hard to respect that [opinion] when A) PES 2010 isn't out yet, B) who said anything about the graphics, C) even those who prefer PES and probably always will, such as Adam of WENB, admit that the ball physics are far better in this demo than anything in PES and D) saying "your new found love" isn't just a desperately pathetic statement to make, it's plain to see from the fact that I'm the number one poster in the FIFA 10 demo bugs and glitches thread that I'm anything but a fanboy who pretends there's nothing wrong with the game. Unlike some.

I would mildly disagree about the heading system. Often the player chests-controls it instead (and that's even when I've tried holding the button to head way before the ball comes close, and not just pressing the button too late).

Also, unlike PES, I've no sense of control over the headers. In PES; if you varied your players position by small amounts, you could get him to make a lofted header, or a header that dives at the ground, depending on if he contacts the ball early or late. This seems impossible in FIFA10, you could try using Supercancel but by the time you've managed to select the correct player with the at-times faulty player switching, you need to hold the Supercancel for almost a second before you can move the player freely.

Judging by PES, there is alot of work here to be done still, although I would agree it is a slight improvement to FIFA09.
 
I've played the demo to a point I dislike it. Because of CPU AI but also because my defenders are dumb and are ALWAYS 3 meters away of who they are supposed to mark. It's even worse than in Fifa 09 and the weak tactics make the same patterns repeat evey time.

How many times do you cross a corner, fail to head, the ball goes scripted to the front of the area where a defender always has preference to clear over a striker who won't even smell the ball and then it comes the counter?

The worst is still the way the strikers are left unmarked and the defenders are always in line lie 5-10 meters away.

This has broken my will to play it anymore. The rest of the game is fantastic, incredibly rich, surprising, thrilling and eveything, but this things break the game completely.

There's no strategy to follow in the game, no matter what you do the most probable is to suffer a counter on the next play. There's no much point in trying to cover passing lanes, simply charging like an animal and do secondth man defense again is the best (and almost only) tactic against CPU (and probably against 90% of human players).

I think EA should be told this things to see if they are willign to change them or the final game will be like that. If the final game doesn't adress this things I fear I won't be playing Manager Mode at all for the first time , it would be irritating and boring.

I still am surprised there isn't more people bored to death with these obvious flaws, which in my oppinion are the most critical flaws of the game (even more than player switching, easy chipping, and players chesting the ball).

I love everything "controllable" as I stated many times. It's like a very bad joke played at me, as if you had the most beautiful woman but she always had headache.

Tell me I'm not that wrong, please!

PS: It's astonishing to find people that finds horrible what I find marvellous in the game. Really some of the pes fans really talk shit. I respect someone that prefers the pes way of live, but to say passing and ball physics are not great in this demo is almost terrorism.
