FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

after playing the demo for a fair bit, thought i'd try play few games of 09 again, which then showed me how much better the game really is and every aspect of game is excellent, the wait seems so long away now though :(

Just noticed Felipe Melo dashing from the holding role to cut out a through ball.

I notice stuff like this all the time. It takes time to build up a move for me. I tend to give it to midfield and if no run is on i knock it back to the centre back. I use the "LB" commend to get someone running if nothing is on. More often than not I get some great little pieces of AI happening. One error that the Juve mistake JUST made 10 mins ago was where the defender tried to anticipate a pass and missed, leaving henry with a simple pass to Messi. Sick goal. Please check it out, as it's probably my best yet. Gamelkip is back making footy clips! :BOP:

Check it out:

btw. I get pm's from people saying i don't do these on world class (on other forums). Here's the proof.

I've become amazing. I've just been completely toying with Bayern on World Class with Barca.

Something has happened in the past half hour. The dribbling has clicked. I've spent the past few days wilfully being pummelled while trying to get to grips with every aspect of the dribbling - I started with the right stick knock-ons for those shoulder-drop jinks into space and the 'bridges' (done a few of them in the past two games). Henry is dancing past Lahm regularly. Messi has become utterly terrifying. Today and yesterday has been L2 and L2+R2 dribbling. To me they are now utterly vital; L2 dribbling gets you using your muscle more (because at slower speeds you are far more balanced). I find that using L2 as 'first gear' and L2+R2 as 'second gear' when dribbling in tight spaces is really paying dividends. I can't recommend this to people enough - when you mix it up, the pressing by the computer suddenly becomes less of an inevitability, and more of a welcome opportunity.

Xavi and Iniesta are actually controlling midfield through sheer technique, and the once fearful physical presence Bayern had has suddenly paled into insignificance. Now that I can control the ball in midfield the pace of the game seems almost perfect (5% less speed would do it for me). I had to defend a couple of times but I haven't spent nearly the same proportion of time jockeying for position as I had in previous games. The best thing is, once you are comfortable with the dribbling as these technical, lighter players, you can really get into their roles with vigour. Every time I saw it was Xavi or Iniesta, I'd draw a man in, before taking a quick touch with one foot and casually passing it away with the other. Those two and Toure have been getting some glorious triangles going in the middle before releasing one of the wide men.

Best of all though is Ibra. Last year we all talked about how we felt Rooney was best represented by the gameplay. It suited him to a tee. This year, for me, I think Ibra is done perfectly. Once it all clicks though, you realise the individual strengths of so many player types are so well implemented. Terry's a big hard bassa. Messi is a blistering firecracker. Henry is a fearsome athlete who is lethal cutting inside. Ibra is lanky yet strong with an incredibly elegant, relaxed touch.

This game really comes alive when, rather than going through the motions and going for the obvious run, you try and invent. After ages of groaning at play breaking down yet again, I've now found my last two or three games exciting, rewarding and vindicating (for all those drubbings I took while trying certain dribbling moves). You know how Jean Claude Van Damme spends the last ten minutes of Kickboxer having his **** handed to him on a plate of broken glass? I've now seen my paralysed brother walk (ahem) in the room.

Here's a glorious chance I so nearly scored just now while on a role; it came at the end of some sustained pressure where I tried all sorts of fancy shiz and Bayern were a whimpering wreck.

http://www.easportsfootball.co.uk/media/play/video/9289126

I also nearly scored off of a driven corner.

I wish I had 20 spaces though; I saw so many things you wouldn't see in any other football game.

Seriously, this game will click if you put the time in. Reminds me so much of PES5 it's not even funny. We just need the niggles ironed out please EA.

The pace of the game will be fine upon release. I'm not actually worried anymore. Why? Well playing Barca vs Chelsea, you kinda expect a high quality fast paced game (for a video game, unless you try your damndest you move the ball about at the back before venturing forward. I like pulling their midfielder out of place this way and finding the gap behind him if i can. They can be wise to this sometimes though.

Anyways, it's fun as hell for me. ramagnoli and I have been on the same wavelength recently, hehe. Nice vids man.

lol bwt i had a corner where it curled and the goalie tipped it off the bar and it came back into play. Drogba pounced and scored the overhead. No mobile at the time though and i was logged out of EA servers. :(

edit 2. zmg i must have lucked out! it recorded:

It's just a very steep learning curve, getting used to dribbling. Dribbling is almost a game in itself. As someone pointed out in another forum, there are 5 different speeds at which you can dribble (6, I reckon, since you dribble somewhere between full left stick and L2+left stick if you don't fully push in a direction. That's incredibly complicated for you standard football game. But they all have a time and a place - as does recognising that it's a losing battle sometimes and going for the pass. There are bugs in the demo, no doubt, but I'm perfectly happy to trust EA to get them sorted (either immediately or through a patch as with last year). The fundamental game itself is about the long haul, not the first week of play, and tonight has completely vindicated my optimism.

I'm on such a high at the moment. Messi was absolutely perfect. Ibra had more than one chance where he received the ball in a packed area, ran parallel to goal through a maze of Bayern defenders, and hit a fierce shot just wide (still need to work on my semi shooting!). I'd spent so long being, as Alan Pardew would say, raped by the AI. The comeback and triumph was like a cheesy 80's action flick.

edit: I'm really looking forward to trying out Aaron Lennon and Theo Walcott this year. You can add them to my list of players who will be represented brilliantly. In fact, I'm looking forward to trying some of the character types not really in this demo.

Just did this by the way.

Nice little move. Barca are deadly on the break. lol It started from their heavy possession!!

romagnoli, that's a great post and also a great chance by Zlatan.Indeed with times, once you master the dribbling and passing it is possible to open up teams very well.

Hey Chris have you told EA about the CB guarding the posts on corners or the CBs being in the wall during a FK? That has to be one of the most blatant flaws that exist.
I have now. :)

The commentary is fantastic, even though I don't like Andy Gray a lot.
To be honest the commentary in the demo winds me up - that joke that Kouroux mentioned is so horribly scripted that you can hear in Andy Gray's voice that he's trying too hard.

But then I read what commentary is going to be included in Manager Mode and the Virtual Pro modes, and I couldn't believe my eyes.

(I posted this on FSB days ago but didn't have time to read the list. When I sat down and read it, my jaw hit the floor...)

Here are just a few examples of the types of commentary you can expect to hear as you progress through Manager Mode or use your Virtual Pro in FIFA 10:

- Midfield banter about your teams league standing, where you are in the league, how you’ve been playing and how your team stacks up against your opponent

- Transfer window information like the window is opening; your team has made a transfer; the window is closing soon/closed; your team has the budget and should make a transfer before it is too late; etc.

- References to a player who has rarely been booked this season getting a red/yellow card

- All new fulltime analysis as it relates to cup and tournament progression; including reference to specific cups by name; multi-leg matches with aggregate scoring; etc.

- More intro and fulltime comments relating to season progression, where you stand in the table; if it looks like you’re going to win the league or, indeed, if you’ve already won the league; early season indicators based on performance; etc.

- Commentary is aware of and speaks about multi-game winning and losing streaks

- Virtual Pro goal milestones including number of goals for your club this season and number of consecutive matches scoring

- Comments based on stats as it relates to current action: i.e. if a player has scored many free kicks for your team this season this will be mentioned when he steps up to take a free kick; if you’re Virtual Pro has scored hat-tricks before for this club then it will be mentioned as he’s seeking out his third goal in a match; a strikers season performance is assessed for goals and misses (a high performing striker may get a hard time for missing while a low performing striker will cause surprise if he manages to score); passing percentage is taken into account as a player gives the ball up again or makes another successful pass; similarly, tackle percentage is taken into account when a player makes a successful tackle (or does not!)

- Transfer information: a noteworthy new transfer will be mentioned in the intro; when the new player has the ball we may hear about how he is old or young, or how expensive he was to the club and how the commentators may feel he’ll gel with the new club

- Player traits and play style are taken into account: i.e. players who are known for long-range shots will get more anticipation further away from goal and the commentators will be more lenient if he misses a long shot as he’s known to score from distance; mentions players with determination bringing up a team’s morale by still giving his all when they are down; players who score often from finesse shots are praised; a “playmaker” can be expected to play the ball to his teammates; players who tend to play out wide are referenced in that position; etc.

- Saves and misses preventing major milestones are mentioned and the rivalry between a player and the keeper in these situations is played up

- Player form is discussed

- More focus on the team captain: the team may have a new captain; the form of the current captain and how it affects the team; goals scored by the captain; etc.

- Many new introductions to season matches including: Virtual Pro debut; new transfers; players returning from injury/suspension; previous result against this opponent; winning and losing streaks; league table standings; how the team stacks up against their opponents; if a team is facing relegation or promotion; etc.

Before I go, in-case anybody cares...

I want to play the game with lower clubs like forest and see how the game plays with players who aren't up to par with the messi's and lampard's then see if i can bang in the goals and beat players 1 on 1 on world class

It's a computer game. It's not real life. The people who make these games do a splendid job. It will never be perfect. If you ain't happy with it, go make your own game.

And I don't play the game in the arena anyway. When in game mode view, it doesn't really matter that much. Stop nit picking.

It's an evolution anyway. Not a revolution ;)

As long as bugs and exploits are gone, you won't find me complaining, nit picking etc.

Some guys on here talk about stuff that will improve the game experience as a whole. Some talk utter tripe and worry about the silliest things.

No offence meant to anybody but come on, get a grip for christ sake.

how come i never see responses to people arguing about nets. and i dont think that something that would make the gameplay much better and realistic is nit picking.it sounds to me that you dont watch soccer because you think that if a player has the same abilities with both legs when playing in game doesnt really matter i think you should not be playing this sport game. maybe basketball wear players can dribble with both hands.

I'm not quite at this level yet, as I'm still experimenting, but I can't wait to be able to master the controlled dribble and other moves.

Imagine all this joy and excitement and multiply that by the full game ;)

By God I hope I haven't lost it...

Another very useful trick is to tap L1 or R2 to stop the ball occasionally. Keeps the defender on his toes and gives you a split second to read where to go next.

R2 in particular is awesome as the player puts his foot on it. I've done some pretty impressive dragbacks where Camoranesi or Messi automatically drag the ball to one side as the defender tries to move round, and then with the foot still on the ball, dragged the ball into the opening and run on.

That dragback move is great. Did a great one with Iniesta yesterday which bought a foul and then scored from the freekick

1. I have mentioned about nets plenty of time. I personally think it's a joke people going on about them as there is nothing wrong with them but hey ho. So Fail on that one young one.

2. You are right, I don't watch Soccer. I watch "Football".

3. Don't tell me I or any other decent player (pro or not) doesn't slowly dribble about with 2 feet. I know I can and do. I have 2 feet. I use them both. The one is not just for standing on. If you can't use both then maybe you are the one who shouldn't be playing the game. Apologies for being able to use them both (I'm talking real life here).

I had a play in the arena and when sprinting, the player that popped up (Ashley Cole) generally used his stronger foot when sprinting. When walking slowly he used both feet. What is wrong with that? Nit picking. This is what you mentioned is it not?

As I mentioned, go make your own game or of it bothers you that much don't play it. It's a game FFS. Get over it. It will NEVER be perfect.
When playing in game mode view, why do some people just look for the smallest of things?! Grow up for god sake. You can hardly bloody tell and I personally cannot see how slow dribbling with 2 feet affects the gameplay???!

And oh yeah, I can play basketball, baseball (British or American), tennis, pool, golf, squash or whatever sport you want me to. I'm just a natural sportsman :)

Mate give your arse a chance. If you got a problem with the nets email it to EA.:BORED:

Played 2 games 2vAI last night before 6.5 hours of 09, liking some of the little touches once I'd sorted my pad out.

It's different to 09 in some very subtle ways in places, trying to see if a controlled player on your side would still get out of the way of a team mates strike but could never set it up.

The pressing is still as annoying as ever, one of the things that bugs me on higher levels in 09 and leads to ping pong...

Jesus wept, those bloody nets. I'm hearing so much about those that when I go to real football on Monday nights I actually have to strike a ball at them several times to see if they're moving realistically enough. Then people ask me what I'm doing, and it's so difficult explaining that the nets have to move in a fashion which clearly identifies them as pieces of string used to collect the ball, thus negating the rigmarole of walking a few hundred yards to collect it.

I'm going mad with the net comments. Mad!!

Has anyone noticed that none of the people in the crowd go for toilet breaks, either? Or get up and leave their seat to go for some food? It's simply not good enough, and I shall be writing to EA to voice my complaints. Right after I've had my breakfast, that is.

Toilet breaks! Be a man and just shit or piss yourself :)

Seriously, we need a toilet cam and I want to be able to zoom in on all the nutty bits when they are wiping their bullet holes. Also, they need to have people standing up and sitting down when wiping if this is to be as realistic an experience as possible.
