FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

Man in my opinion this demo feels almost the same as fifa 09, only that because i had not played fifa 09 in a long time it kinda made it feel a little bit different. first im going to start by saying that it seems that davis rutter doesnt watch soccer, the reason why i mentioned this is because you will never see messi have more than 2 touches in a row using the right foot. this game feels like if there is no differnce between players abilities with their feet. the only place wear you will see messi use his right foot to dribble just ass good as his left foot is in fifa. in real life players tend to move their body in a certain way that will get them confterble with the foot that they know how to use better. the only good adjustment that i feel fifa has made is the skilled mode, because this does happen in real life. watch this video (YouTube - Lionel Messi fantastic Player) and tell me how many times messi touched the ball with his right foot.also the jostling mode is a good idea only if you implement it the right way, which i think in fifa its not

Had a session on PES09 last night after playing FIFA. I might have been really tired, but PES seemed awful after playing FIFA.

I'm such a confused puppy now!

PES seemed so simplistic and basic and the moves felt very 'forced' with the 8 directions.

Not fair to judge until I've played PES10 I 'spose...

BLACCAT and VONDAVE, please do not overwrite the replays/screenshot you've uploaded showing poor AI team-mate runs and player switching issues! I've just sent an email to EA with links to them in, to illustrate my points. If they get overwritten then they won't get to see what I'm talking about.

I've tried to point out and illustrate as best as I can five major issues having an impact on my experience currently - poor AI runs, constantly pressuring/ping-pong passing CPU AI (making the game seem too fast), player switching being poor in general, CPU clearances being pin-point passes to strikers and defenders chesting the ball when you've pressed a button for them to kick the ball.

Any other major issues spoiling your enjoyment?

I hope thay do look at this I've a feeling 2vAI will be the same auto playing mess as 09...

after playing some hours on the weekend I want to give my 2 cents on the PS3 demo. Almost anything has been said before (by the usual suspects)

pro:
- tons of new animations (turning, clearing, making space for a shoot/pass, on-the-pitch cinematics, quick freekicks...)
- close control/360° (stats should have even more impact on how good/fast close control can be done on certain players)
- ball physics have been improved (still room left for further improvements, but it's a step into the right direction)
- player/team individuality has been improved: you can't perform all tricks with all players. It definitly feels different playing against different teams. It's still not on the level PES has been once (PES3-6/PS2), though.

con:
- chip shots are too easy/CPU performs chips in almost any 1-on-1. Has to be fixed, as it may ruin the balance
- (AI) crossing has too much curl.
- normal speed is too fast. (normal 10=fast 09, slow 10=normal 09)
- defender positioning still too offensive (-> counter attacks all the time)

open feature requests:
- offline replays
- bring up defenders on corners/free kicks
- offside given AFTER player starts to celebrate

I'm happy with the demo and the way FIFA develops. I've almost the same feeling I've had in the glory days of PES (PES4->PES5)
To judge the gameplay balance I have to play multiplayer and longer matches. As the gamplay has been tweaked, there's always the possibility there are new exploits/miss-balanced gameplay.

If the main bugs which have been brought up are fixed then im more than happy. Looking like the best football game then (even surpassing PES5)

I haven't posted my impressions yet because I'm struggling to get to grips with the demo. I do have more cons than pros though, especially the fact that everyone is two footed again.

If the bug fixes etc are sorted then it will be an excellent game but it wont be as good as PES5 and I wont place it in the same class as an NBA 2K or MLB The Show.

That's the 3 minute factor for me. I don't get attached to any particular game because I play 10 in an hour. I played FIFA 09 with 8 minute halves, so I don't really feel like taking the lead in a game, or scoring a last minute winner, means much because I don't feel like such a short match has any worth. I remember not celebrating much in last year's demo only to leap about like a loon when Ronaldo fired in a last minute equalizer against Villa in my first week with the game.

I finally played the PS3 Demo and it seems faster compared to 360. I have been impressed by some recent final version vids, but I have yet to be fully impressed and wowed by the demo. Yes, there are improvements from last year, but it still feels like an enhanced version of 09.

But I never got that feeling from playing Fifa 09. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a very nice demo with nice little touches and details but it still seems to lack that kind of 'umph' when scoring a screamer. Yes they look spectacular, but thats about it. This is my opinion of course.

Yep noticed this too, PS3 demo is faster...so worse

However seems like its picking up analogue movements slightly better than the 360.... I'm sure these are just because its a demo...

This demo with all its obvious flaws is for me already better than PES5.

I have to admit, I'm a 360 owner and my mate has a PS3. The demo on his is definitely a smidge faster than my version.

Also, the comment above about it being a 3 minute demo rings true. I was playing last years and eventually it got a bit samey and reptitive. The full game, however, completely and utterly overshadowed the demo so much so that I'd forgotten what it was like.

There's nothing like delving into the full game, choosing your team - perhaps in Manager Mode - and taking on other clubs in control of your favourite players. It's brilliant, and something that this demo simply does not have. It doesn't have that pull you in factor which the full game always seems to bring to the table.

Roll on.

you need to play against a friend, use the slow dribbling

6 teams is already getting too samey as well

Always the case after playing a demo that I never want to play those teams in the full game as I'm sick of the sight of them after the demo

OK here are some videos just pointing out how fantastic the game can be at times...(these are all FULL manual controls against world class CPU)

Good move down the right flank followed by a tantaslising cross...so unlucky

YouTube - Fifa 10 Great wing play

This was a decent move followed by a nice strike and a good save. (Watch the striker run into a great position when his team mate picks it up)

YouTube - Fifa10 Great move

This last video is the first goal I scored. Took me a while, worth the wait. So shocked to see a shot like this on FIFA!! Loved it.

Yeah - why don't they put Arsenal in the demo  then it would be all good :DD

Haha, very true.

I don't think my love for Chigaco Fire will stretch another month or so... ;)

I wonder if Adebayor's new celebration will be in the full game...

Can't say I've noticed any difference. I actually prefer playing it on PS3. That's proabably to do with the pad.

I'd pre-ordered on PS3 ages ago (before I had a 360) so if the online is really bad, I will swap it. Online is generally fine though. Couple of little issues but nothing major.

i played both demos too, and imo the ps3 demo feels faster because the REACTION TIMES are faster imo....everything feels more responsive on the sixaxis than on the xobx360 pad.

I don't think I've played on Manual for longer than 2 minutes on Fifa 09. Is it a significant step up that will take quite some time to master? I've heard a few folk claiming it makes the game much harder, especially with the shooting.

Thoughts?

the only issues I have with fully manual is passing/crossing.
I'm still not able to play accurate short passes. For me this destroys the whole manual experience. Especially if I play against the CPU/assisted players.

manual Shooting is more difficult, but more satisfying, too.

I need to get practice in for manual throughballs; the semi assisted online filter uses assisted lob passing and manual through balls.

Might give full manual a go tonight actually, I was complaining that last year's manual controls weren't fully manual, so now that they are I'd be a fool not to try again..
