FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

Guys could you help with the camera issue?

I play full manual, and I've found a zoomed out tele cam works best to see passes etc, but isnt best on the eye

Equally, dynamic, which is more zoomed in seems easier to aim, as its obviously alot closer to the action, so you dont have to be as precise on the stick. The radar being shit means I often cant see oncoming tacklers though etc

Whats the best balance? Zoomed in Tele cam?

Major kudos for fixing free-kicks. I'm now lethal. Heres Xavi again:

Video #3: FINAL THIRD ACTION
Here I post something you would hardly see in Fifa 09, a header goal contesting the keeper in a early cross.
http://www.easportsfootball.co.uk/media/play/video/9200630

The key to these incidents is that the keeper actually comes off his line now! I put in a floating free kick earlier and the keeper caught it just goal side of the penalty spot. I didn't even register that this had happened until I was deciding where to hit a corner shortly afterwards. Lovely stuff.

The thing about the heading is that, in FIFA 09 I spent most of the demo unable to win a single header. I just didn't seem to get on with how it worked. A few months later it all came together and I was winning them more often than not.

This year I think one or more of the following is correct:

- aerial battles are borked.
- we aren't used to the new trajectory of the ball, so winning headers on crosses is going to be tricky until we get used to how the ball moves.
- we are spending much of the demo using teams with quite short defenders (I certainly am; Juve and Barca tend to be going up against Drogba/Anelka or Gomez).
- Maybe instead of just being side by side with players pushing for position, we need to get ourselves a metre or two of space to get a good jump in (not tried this so could be massively wrong).

I posted this in the other thread but that was by accident! I just saw FIFA 10 and panicked. I don't know if it's new to this game or not but it might help people mix it up in the demo.

Ok, I've worked out how to take the different types of corner. Some of you may have known this all along but I've certainly been asking this on various forums for years with no joy, only other people also asking how it's done. I don't know if these controls would have worked on FIFA 09 or 08, in fact.

Basically the instructions are missing an extra press of the lob pass button (I'll say O instead of the lob pass button since I use PES controls on PS3). All of the multi-taps have to be pretty quick as well; luckily they don't have any impact on the final gauge so you can machinegun away without fear of ballsing it up.

To take a driven corner, double tap O and then press and hold O to charge up the gauge. That's three button presses in total.

To take a corner along the ground, triple tap O and then press and hold O to charge up the gauge. That's 4 button presses in total.

Having just switched the PS3 off I've remembered what I was supposed to do - save videos of these corner types! Anyway, the driven corner is very low and hard indeed. It never gets above crossbar height. I almost scored when I accidentally discovered it, as the ball flashed across the corridor of uncertainty and Ibra toe-poke volleyed it wide when he should have scored. Having tried it a couple more times, you can get some swerve on these, but obviously not nearly as much as on high corners. I've not had enough goes with it to experiment with holding up or down to change the trajectory as with normal corners.

The one along the ground is, obviously, along the ground. I've had people run in at the near post and try to turn it in but in two attempts I haven't been able to beat the man on the near post or the keeper. I've not really experimented with aiming for other parts of the area yet but it seems perfect for the Sheringham corner. Once we have custom set pieces to play with these should all become quite useful.

I've tried the low ball from a free kick with no luck. It might not be possible, in which case we'd have to just be very clever with the driven shot.

Anyone who knows anything about footy (and probably 95% of barca fans) will tell you Iniesta is a better player in every regard.

Agree with your opinions of the demo though, spot on there.
But Xavi is the heartbeat of their team and has been for many years.

I cannot score playing World Class, on fully manual controls, against any team no matter what strength teams are used.

I switched down to Pro, on semi controls, played as Chelsea against Chicago Fire, and FINALLY my goal drought ended.

The feeling I got when this went in... Don't tell me FIFA has no soul...

YouTube - FIFA 10 Chelsea Move & Header

I just love the backheel (which I could never do on purpose in FIFA 09), the smooth pass, the perfectly curved cross (I saw plenty on Match of the Day last night) and the thumping header - that the goalkeeper got a hand to but couldn't stop it going in the net. Even watching it back now I'm feeling like ... how do I put it into words ... OHHHHHH YES, or something like that.

Can I just say I'm having no problems with defensive headers now, (only scored a couple of attacking ones though), it's just simply all about timing rather than bashing the button aimlessly like you could before. It took a few matches to get used to it, I mistimed plenty to begin with. But I honestly don't see it as a problem, and am actually pleased defensive work requires some skill now.

Most disappointed thing for me is the AI, which isn't a problem if you only play online but I was looking forward to a comprehensive MM this year. Every team plays the same, and even on World Class the AI struggles to convert any 1-on-1s excluding chips.

I'm worried about the free kicks in this game - yes, they look nice, but they seem very easy... Two free kicks with the same player, same power and same placement/curl will always result in the exact same strike, this means that if you practice quite a lot in practice mode/arena from various positions then you will probably score almost every free kick you get in a match.

Nice goal Chris! :TU: I'm going to start playing on Pro from now on, WC just pisses me off no end.

Why do you guys keep saying that Fifa shouldn't be played the way PES is played? As in you lot mean not to hammer the sprint button? But most of the people I play online and the videos I see show me that on Fifa the sprint button is used a lot. Also since most of the goals are 1-1s then what do you expect?

I don't think it has anything to do with the way PES is played. I like to play the way I play in real life football. Most of the time we're running, some jogging, and a little walking. I think its all down to people's style, not the game. Some like to exploit game flaws, and every game has them. Some like to play the game the way they do in real life.

Ok, so i have to say playing against the CPU in the demo is SHIT. Sucks, i feel bad for MM guys. But playing against a HUMAN, HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS SWEET!!!! Slowing down waiting for the defender to stab in, only to pull right trigger and to the right or left at the right time, AWESOME!! And you can feel the difference between doing this with ribery and van bommel.... I take back what i said earlier, LOL. I just wish they would work on the SHIT cpu AI playing against you.

Same reason as why Gears of War shouldn't be played as Halo. If someone knows what they are doing they will murder you.

But isn't that down to people enjoying a game's exploits?

Plus comparing football to shooting down people isn't exactly the same ;)

I said that on Thursday :)

@ chris i dont know why people say fifa has no soul i feel it has more soul than james brown in his hey day i mean sure there a few things that are a bit off but its a video game if you want to experience the real emotion and passion of football without silly ai or cheat tacics etc then gather a few of your mates grab a ball and play the real. i accept fifa and or pes for what they are videogames cos i see that some people are being a bit too anal cos i can tell you that ten years from now people will still be complaining about fifa 20 saying things like the fan in row c isnt smiling or something stupid. i play games in my free time which is probably why im still not bored of fifa 09 but i do understand that the hardcore gamers out there can spot problems alot beter than i can but i just feel that dave rutter and ea have outdone themselves this year and i know next years version will be better than this. its your perogative to like or dislike the game but some your expectations are too high technology or should i say the console spec they have to deal with isn't capable of fully replicating a game of football just and please dont flame me cos im not talking to anyone specifically im saying take fifa for what it is a videogame and be patient with ea as i can see that they are listening to us andare trying really hard to implement that oh and the same goes for pes too.

i hate the manual goal celebrations.....hated it in fifa 09

computer AI doesn't really sell the game for me anyway, prefer to play on XBOX Live against other players

Agree with Rob freekicks are to easy, Im actually ok with the aerial game I think its pretty realistic. One thing though I'd like EA to add his miss hits more than ever, If you shoot from 40 yards out on assisted then most of the time your going to get your keeper scrambling over to tip it over or it goes in everytime.

Otherwise its a great game though and a massive difference to last year.

Am I the last to realise players havent different skill move levels?

And weak foot rating.

Select a player, click in right stick for stats, then move across

Stupid me

The new 'close control' skill has made this game much better than last years - and 360 dribbling has made it even better. you can now cut in between defenders sharply and leave them for dead with a quick burst of the sprint button.

but why does it take 2 buttons to do this? with my set up (on the ps3) I have to press R1 (sprint) and L2 (close control/skill button) to do this...why not just let the L2 button allow you to do these 'jink' moves?

also I wish they would tone doen the skills. I would be happy with 5 standard ones such as step-overs, roulettes etc and then add one or two more for more skilled players, such as the flip-flap.

this way when I want to pull off a step-over i know its gonna happen, rather than worrying that ill do some sort of tekken move!

They have. Players have skill ratings for tricks. Only the best can do 5 star tricks.

yeah i find that sometimes simple moves turn into a new dance

Used that in 09 to beat a man all the time, Can't do it in 10 at the moment:((

It happens a lot quicker... just try speed it up..

Good thing about it this year is that it doesn't work every time... You really have to commit them or get them off balance
