Oh man, Ray Hudson would probably have your head for that comment. Xavi all the way for me; Essien just doesn't have the class, sorry.

and FWIW from me, don't be surprised if Xavi gets a bunch of votes this year for WPOTY

Seems to me that you play in the barca style (ball possession and passing) for the sake of playing in the style - just forget about them and play the game as chances open naturally. Doesnt mean you need to play the long ball game or consistently score with 1on1's, but you need to be prepared that these things will sometimes happen.

I think you didn't get the point entirely of my post. If I play Juventus or Chelsea, my central midfielders are gods and I do what I want. Playing weaker players, all the glory goes away fast and you can't let the cpu get 1 meter away of you or they will just dispossess you.

I play long passes, through balls, dribbles, etc.. I do everything I can dream of in the game, except mantain possession in midfield with the more skilled players.

Gab, I know I can "shield" the ball with a button, but I would like to be able to simply turn with a weak player and make impossible for the opponent to knock the ball off of me from behind so easily. I know 30% of times there's the chance of grabbing a free kick, but most of the times you simply loose possession and your player does that kind of "stumbling" animation.

It's the fact that strength is way overacted that pissess me off because it diminishes creative players.

I like Essien a lot, but Xavi is a completely different player and one of the best passers in the world. Probably the man with less turnovers in history.

On the other side, forwards are really well represented. In fact, Fifa 10 shows he best attack and defense ever seen in a game. Now it's only midfield left!

I have a question for those that have played Human vs. Human:
Is stamina depleted really fast? Can you do pressure all the time? Is secondary defender's pression making a real impact on stamina? It's very important for me that someone who simply holds sprint button all the game should finish the game totally exhaust.

Talking about offside, I had a perfectly offside goal allowed in.I checked it about 10 times on the replay and all I could see was my behind being the defense when the pass was made and no the player wasn't in my half but on the edge of the penalty box.
@drekkard: one of the reasons why Xavi is so hard to retrieve the ball from him is also because he's a strong player.Obviously not Duncan Ferguson like strength but he's a p**ssy either.Maybe adjusting those physical stats would help but I must say I agree regarding the "strength vs skills" aspect of the game.
 
Right on Drekkard, part of Xavi's brilliance is his ability to make space just by turning his body in a circle. Can be done in the game, but not to the same extent. Midfield play is missing that extra something that made PES5 so great- to me it seems like it's still way too physical when you're trying to win a midfield battle. It may be the 3-minute halves and the game speed, I'll see when the actual game comes out.

Incidentally I've just loaded up the demo to play, three times in a row, and it's locked up the console when it asks you to choose your demo team. I don't think I'll be able to play it again. I have angered the FIFA Gods by expressing my goalkeeper concerns. :(

My console got locked up twice in a row. It was when I first selected "Experienced" difficulty level, and then chose Barca as my preferred team. As soon as a game was finished loading and I pressed start, it would just to to black, no way to get the dashboard up.

Not sure if it is replicable.

Same thing has just happened to me :RANT:

OK I keep trying to do the fake shot and it rarely works.More than half the time it's a pass or a shot and found that I can only do it inside the box. This can't be just me. Luckily I can get away with it in 10.
 
My PS3 has frozen a couple of times; both times it was at the final whistle, as if there was a file missing that caused the game to lock up.

Actually I think it locked up in the arena once..
 
Am I the only one doing the following:

Whenever I'm 30 yards out and central having an effort, just cos it was pointless in Fifa 09. Almost like I haven't scored a screamer for over a year!! The shootings awesome. Same if the ball is in the air- Just volley it!!

Also with regards to individuality, I try and play like the player, and realise with say Zlatan, you can control it easily, then dont turn and go for goal/pass, but create space instantly say with a dragback, assess options, then dribble, 1-2's.

Also think I've scored 3 free-kicks now, and have mastered it. It was shite in 09. Its like how free-kicks in PES used to be.

Finally, what I would love from the evolution of this thread, is not so much highlgihting any flaws, or whinging, or turning it into a PES vs FIFA debate but lets see what things we still haven't mastered, what new skills there are, (so we can all play better and enjoy it more) and how to do them. If someone could give an in depth helpful post on skilled dribbling for instance it would be great, as I can dribble normally ok-ish, but Im crap at skilled dribbling. Lose the ball so easily!!

I have mastered it, the trick is to press and hold shoot and NOT lettinging it go and pressing and holding pass. Having both buttons pressed do the trick 99% of the time for me.

With Zlatan I can round the keepers quite easy in one on one. Not always, though, sometimes the keeper realises what I am doing and keeps track of me. And I've been awarde some penalties because of the keeper touching my feet with his hands..

I've had some amazing volleys not going in, but almost. It's really so gratifying ending plays, even if you don't score.

Another thing I've noticed is how easy is to score finesse shots with skilled players. Too easy, perhaps.

Final third action is really well done!
 
This is going to be a long month leading up 'til October the 1st to find out whether they've fixed the goalkeepers, which are my only major problem.

That happened to me on 09 as well. :RANT:



Side note, how the hell do you do the bridge move? I really can't do it.
 
I like the fact that when you have a free kick out wide near the box witch were normally useless you can use LB and Shoot to fire a ball on the floor across the goal

I scored against a mate with it :)

LB is weird in free kicks for shooting, unless you have to power the bar near full which i haven't tried to get it over then wall it seems as though LB is more of a ground free kick
 
I managed to put a long rocket to the bar with Dani Alves pressing LB. Difficult to go thorugh the wall, though, as it should be.

The problem is Cam that it just does not feel as though it has moved forward. It seems the incramental tweaks are quite fine and I just do not see why it has taken 12 months to produce this.

I also think the graphics have taken a step backwards, especially on the close ups, it looks almost cartoon like in places.

I am dissapointed with the effort, I know they have listened to fans and all that but its so much like 09 its frightening.

360 dribbling is not showing a massive difference IMO and its the games biggest sell.
 
Personally 360 is massive and has changed the game completely for me. I'm so happy that I love FIFA 10, I was afraid it would feel scripted like 09, but it's not. Everything is just so much better.
 
I don't understand how you can say FIFA and say cartoon but PES graphics are realistic? The colour scheme alone in PES is like watching Bugs Bunny, the only thing realistic graphic-wise is surely the faces? You cant put on a game of PES and think it looks like a TV game, you can with FIFA.

Just for the record, for me the games biggest sell is definatly the new shooting...

ive said this 1 million times, i would be quite happy with fifa09 if their shooting felt anything like PES shooting, fifa10 achived that imo all the other stuff is coming like a huge PLUS to me, specially how u can now beat defenders a lot easier.

I'm to old to be getting into petty arguments with people over a football game, so I'll leave it there but just because I do not like it as much as so many people, does not mean I have to post an essay to justify my opinions.

I don't really think any of the games look that realistic. They both get beaten by Football Kingdom (in certain weather conditions and stadiums). I guess it mostly has to do with the colour palette and contrast.

Hi Brunnoce

I agree that the shooting is so much better, it's just i can't feel these so called big differences in all other area's.

I'm glad you are happy with it and I am sure it will give hours of endless fun, however it's just not my cup of tea and the more I try to like it the more frustrating it is becoming. Anyway I can't really contribute muct to the thread so i am signing out, but hope you all enjoy it chaps:TU:
