FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

Has someone figured out how to switch feet yet before you shoot? I've just remembered this!

Incidentally I've just loaded up the demo to play, three times in a row, and it's locked up the console when it asks you to choose your demo team. I don't think I'll be able to play it again. I have angered the FIFA Gods by expressing my goalkeeper concerns. :(
I think the easiest way is to use LT and RT.

ok. hopefully it's a well founded argument and not the player personality drivel.

oh wait... it's the classic, "FIFA is soulless" argument. I don't understand it.

Then he says ball physics is floaty. What do you people want? You want FIFA to use a round rock instead of a ball? Seriously this is the type of rubbish that makes me think people that share this opinion just want to make themselves heard so EA listens to all that share this opinion so that PES can become King again so it can claim it has "great ball physics". My god. I'll give you that the physics can sometimes be inconsistent and feel floaty but this a demo after all.

I scored this goal yesterday
http://www.easportsfootball.co.uk/media/play/video/9124326

And it felt fucking good scoring a goal like that clinched me the match in the 90th minute. I just hope these long rangers aren't that common. If that is soulless then I don't know what to tell you. Oh yeah...stick to PES.

This is the best FIFA has been at since 08. I'm just pretty pissed off seeing all these bugs that could potentially ruin the game everyone for the most part wanted.:DRUNK:

Yeh, I'm not sure how fast people want this ball to move. It moves perfectly imo. Any faster or zippier and we'd be playing pro evo. And that's not a knock on PES, that's just the was passing and movement is in those titles. It depends on what you want out of the game really.

hanakuka: yeah that's why i liked it. The goalie got a touch on Lampards shot onto the post and i thought "oh shit!" and then nicky popped-up as usual. "right place, right time".

Well after bashing the demo even further I'd just like to say this seriously is impressing me immensely. :))

I'll start of saying this reminds me of PES5 in that when I originally played it I was in for a shock after PES4 and I really get the difference from that game to the difference we have in FIFA 09 and 10. I'd say I was pretty good at FIFA 09 but admittedly I'm at the moment rather crap at FIFA 10' but I still love it to bits and the reason for this is because the potential of the game is just gob smacking, The potential I as a gamer have to tap into in this version is just something I've/We've never had before, Theirs just so much depth!

The dribbling is something else compared to any other FIFA and now gives me that past PES feeling, PES gave you the feeling when dribbling with someone like a Messi or Ribery to really put you back and I think FIFA has really nailed this now, You could dribble in past FIFA's but the "Casual" gamers couldn't. Today me and my brother had a couple of games and he's the type who doesn't really use the "extra" controls such as Skilled dribble but when he had the likes of Messi or Anelka going one on one with my last defender I genuinely felt worried which hasn't happened before in a FIFA with just basic dribbling, whether he knocked it past me or twisted and turned to get that yard and it felt real.

I think for me personally PES is slowly losing its strong points to FIFA further, I think shooting now is minimum on par with PES now, Same for the physic's (again at the very least) I'd say indiviuality is getting pretty close to but my take on that is more the gamers input.

Apart from a couple of bugs im struggling to see where EA need to improve, Yes the keepers need work to them and their is a few basic glitches which can be improved for the final version but seriously what a game this is and this is. I just can't wait till I get good at it ;))

My 2 cents...this game seems like it will show its' true potential after playing it for a few weeks (this reminds of how PES 4 jumped to PES 5). And one other thing, if you are not playing this on fully manual you're selling yourself short from a true next gen sports game (IMO of course).

Young_gun:Great write-up man. I've said before that it reminds me of PES5 in the progression of the PES series.

Jflores: That'll be cause they're taken off a screen with a phone cam and It's playing on a flat screen sony bravia. Only 720p though. It's the Xbox 360 version. People don't believe my vids and pics lol.

Pics from the demo:

(managed to break the replay and zoom in very close with lamps. I'll try it again in a sec.)

lol No one will ever see the game this close due to the nature of the game but i'm a replay whore so I see all!

I see.. So your playing the demo on 720p? maybe this is why. I will set my 360 to 720p to see if there's any graphical difference. Your pics and vids look very lifelike and crisp. The grass blades look very rich and real.

Nah, it'll be the camera. Cameras always have this effect on colours viewed from a screen. It also makes black levels look a lot darker. Not a videophile; is this a contrast thing?

Really? interesting. Not sure what it is about the graphics for this demo, but they just don't look too apealing to me. Graphics on Fifa games have been better in past versions. Grass in this demo doesn't look that great for my liking. I guess this is because I'm so used to FIFA graphics that they don't appeal to me anymore.

Ended up finding a download of the demo so I could play. Loving it so far, got to play a bit last night before passing out for work, played a little before work too. I'm still doing PES type things though, which is making me look really stupid.

I waited to offer my two cents on the demo because I've been occupied in all sorts of things. I may say I specially agree with Wildster in most of his views of the demo. To make it short:

Positives:

I think EA has nailed all the "controllable" things. I mean, everything you control with the pad is spot on for me, just great. Controsl feel right and there's more player individuality than before.

Even though I have put it in short, the improvement is massive and it's great and they done a marvellous job. There's all you need to have a 10/10 football game. But...

Negatives:

- Game Speed / Space / Closing down
Even though I think speed is a tad too fast, the main problem comes from old... CPU AI is pathetic and kills the joy. It's as if they delivered us a perfect gem and shit on it the CPU AI. The way they close you down constantly, hoe they deliver inch perfect passes most of the time, the way Chicago can put infinite pressure all the time is piss poor. And stamina is yet to have an impact on the game. I know it's a 3 minuted demo, but still...

- Strength and Speed against the rest
I want Xavi and Iniesta to be key players in this game but it's impossible with this speed, the constant pressure of CPU in the midfield and the fact that STRENGTH > SKILL in any situation. That kills the joy, because in this game anyone will prefer to have Essien than Xavi in midfield, and I find this to be a personal defeat for me, I was expecting skill to be at least as important as strength. For example, anyone can push Xavi even from behind and siposses him easily, while in real life it's almost impossible to do. It's so obvious Speed and Strength are overacted...

- Rigid tactics
One thing I hate is they haven't corrected some tactical aspects that kill the experience for me. I'm a barcelona fan so I'm desperate for ball possession. So I do a lot of passes to finally create a chance. Let's say I end up crossing the ball. What happens in the game 90% of the times is that defenders clear the ball to a mate (or end up winning any battle for the ball against my skilled but papermade Xavi and Iniesta who are never in the RIGHT positions) and then the opponent has 50 meters clear ahead of them to run the counter. In real life, if you have possession and advance, you force your opponent to close in its own area, and it's hard for them to go out. In the game, it's uber-easy to counter, because the opponent striker is ALWAYS unmarked in the midfield, and your defenders totally unaware of him. That means that once you have crossed and missed the chance, the opponent simply runs the field (your midfield is unexistant by then) or simply does a 25 yrds pass to the striker who is always alone to receive the ball. This is crap and it bored me to death in fifa 09. They haven't change a thing tactically, I'm gutted. In short, it doesn't matter how you play because there are "scripted" positions that make the tactical side of the game to feel totally "scripted".

- Team styles
Finally, the CPU AI makes all the teams play exactly the same... I'm not talking about the result or 1 vs 1 situations (Messi can destroy Chicago defenders 1 by 1 given the space), I'm talking about the way they play tactically and strategically.

- Individualitzation
By the way, there is definitely some player individualization. Don't try to cross or long pass with Abidal, don't try long shots with Iniesta, don't try heading with xavi... That said, I think it's not enough. There should be even MORE differentiation between players.

I know it sound so negative, but really like it and I think it will be the best football game out there, but as long as there has been a HUGE improvement on a lot of things, some fundamentals of the game remain a brake for the experience.

I realise you are a massive barcelona fan,but you've got to stop looking at everything in terms of the way they play. Even if we could play like barca do in real life - we would get shot down by people worldwide saying we are playing ping pong assisted style.

Seems to me that you play in the barca style (ball possession and passing) for the sake of playing in the style - just forget about them and play the game as chances open naturally. Doesnt mean you need to play the long ball game or consistently score with 1on1's, but you need to be prepared that these things will sometimes happen.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I would have Essien over Xavi ANYDAY of the week. Iniesta, on the other hand...

I aint no master with the trick stick but I love the way u can now beat players with stepovers and little drop of the shoulders. In 09 I couldnt do that. I dont see where people are saying u cant get past players with the skilled dribbling either as you can.

One nice thing was Pique took me down as last man 5 mins in and got a red card and then Barca took off Ibra straight away.

Ok after much dicking around I found out that if you go into replay mode and go to free cam, then go to the player you want, you have to go to the maximum zoom and then tap up (you'll notice it getting closer incrementally) and then by the time you're done you see the full detailed faces without the LoD taking away the detail.

Here's a couple of shots i just took off my tv.

Sick. (I know, i know, i can't sleep lol).

fifa 10 is a great game, find it hard to believe some people are putting it down

fifa 09 was getting on my nerves, so i switched back to pes2009 and was enjoyed that until the demo came out.....the difference is massive between pes2009 and fifa 10

i'm just hoping pes2010 pulls something out of the bag and i can play two great footy games....pro evo deep down is still my game, just hoping they re-create the game we all know and love

getting chipped by the AI when one on one is now pissing me right off.
For some reason I love this. Finally the AI is dangerous when I mess up and let them through on goal. On 09 I hardly ever let in any goals against the AI, so this is a breath of fresh air. Honestly, a 1-on-1 should 9 out of 10 times result in a goal.

Dunno if this flaw got mentioned before, but the ref's calling you offside when passing the ball to a player who's in your own half. I've had the situation twice last night when the CPU took a miserable corner that sent me on a promising counter attack. Stinks! Put it on teh list, Mr. Davies!
