Improving AI is no more an improvement to manager mode than introducing rain is an improvement to manager mode. Yes it's great that gameplay/aesthetics are improved, but improving core gameplay is not a manager mode improvement as far as I'm concerned and to say that it's "misleading" to say they've done nothing to manager mode is completely false.

I understand what your saying but im sorry, gameplay is part of manager mode, you cant have one without the other.... or am i missing something here... if manager mode was strictly simming games, while you sit there and watch like FM, then your correct.. but as far as i remember i was controlling my players in MM on 08 and playing vs the AI driven cpu, which is an intergral part of mm and the game overall

I think to an extent you have to say EA have from what i've heard so far done a good job this year, ok they havnt improved MM and i do like playing the AI also but the gameplay at the moment just isn't good enough to say "ow ok lets work on the presentation and front end of the game" at the end of the day the game modes, etc are worthless if the gameplay isnt good enough, FIFA 08's gameplay was good but still needs to be improved further and it seems like they've done that and if its really that good then they've got a whole year to add game modes and improving modes etc.

nothing special in that xboxdynasty preview.
they are repeating the same things we have heard over the last 10 weeks.

at the end they summarize it with: the best fifa the have ever played and one of the best soccer games they have ever played

Im not a big fan of playing randoms online

Playings mates and people off here is different though because its just a laugh and you can if you win get a bit of rivalry going to spice up the game :))

When we have a local 4-5 man league here the shit thats being said while your playing and the banter between us is unreal. That for me is what multiplayer is all about and you don't get that with randoms and obviously single player

yeah that's correct gomito10,
if the gameplay is improved, then playing mm should be alot more enjoyble and fun.
i couldn't finish the 1st seson last year on fifa08, coz the gameplay, playing with all the teams having a perfeect back 4, and the players feelt no much different from eachother got me bored very quickly.
gameplay is very important we all know that, with out it tha game is brocken no mater how many modes u can play, or how great it looks.
pesonaly i am very excited with what i heard so far, but yeah i can understand some people will be dissapointed, but u have to understand how bussines works, ea is not gonna fully improve the game in every aspect, as they always think they need to come up with something next year, and the year after

Wow. I just realised that in nearly a decade of owning PES and FIFA I have never tried either the Master League or the Manager Mode. The only managerial game's I have played are Football Manager/Championship Manager (back in the day) and SWOS 96-97. I really should start. Its sound's like a lot of fun.

how did you not play the master league or manager mode when there was no online available to you it was the only thing I played on those games before online

The main areas in which FIFA needed to be improved upon are response times, gameplay speed, AI, collisions, ball physics, shooting system, refereeing and player models. From what I have seen and read EA have addressed each of these areas and are even going further by improving online for 10v10, adding Be A Pro season mode (should last a career instead of 4 seasons) and they have more modes that are going to be anounced at Leipzig. So overall I am extremely pleased with the current information regarding FIFA 09.

I just played my friends and when on my own I would just play exhibitions or competitions.

I played Master league because PES used to be awesome but once again it didn't last long till it got too easy and boring. So after that i just played in leagues or exhibition matches with mates

true tim is pretty good, in fact so good i think i almost threw my controller a couple of times! hahhah, and not like when the cpu cheats and beat you, but like damn, he is better then me, im defeated

Adriano an 80 what a joke they kept him as an 85 after a horrible year at inter but because its inter he stayed so high

he goes to sao paulo plays amazing comes back to inter and is now an 80 where is the logic!

Def understand Placebo's disappointment, but honestly for me the only reason I stopped playing MM last year was because every team was the bloody same. If they fixed this and every team played different that would be enough for me (for now) if like I've been reading the gameplay is fantastic. For me you get gameplay perfect and you work from there.

Only argument I could see is improving MM before doing 10 v 10... for me getting that many people who play the game right is going to be SO difficult. If you possibly find 20 good players tho the mode will be awesome.

About this article, it's just more of the same but there is one point that will make many of you guys happy I guess...
In Fifa 09 there will be a solution for the problem with the opponent disconnecting while losing a match. If a player is disconnected for more then 5 minutes (after the 3rd minute, not quite sure about that though... it is not very clear what the author means) then it will be a 3:0 win for the other player.

OK lads only a really quick post but look at fifasoccerblog over the next few days for loads more details and exclusive stuff.

Well all I can say is that FIFA 09 is truley where next gen football begins.

A few key point:

  1. Be a pro is 4 seasons offline
  2. They have a new EA locker where the game tactics and formations an stuff by the fans can be exchanged!
  3. They are also implementing a new online rule for quiters. If you quit in the first 3 minutes no penalty. Quit between 3 and 5 minutes you get a DNF and quit after 5 minutes you get a 5 minute loss and a really bad rating.
  4. Collision system is phenomenal! You really have to see it in action.
  5. New jostling system is also amazing.
  6. Ball physics and passing is improved drastically.
  7. The pace of the game is much better.
  8. The manager mode is pretty much the same, as well the edit mode.
  9. There will be some major announcements at Leipzig about the exclusive ps3 mode.
  10. Player fatigue has been improved.


And there are loads more details and pics to come. The FSB team touch down in the UK tomorrow so expect loads more exclusive stuff then. And yes your questions have been answered in a 1 hour 1-1 with David Rutter :king:

Cheers for the info man, much appreciated. I am looking forward to seeing this collision system, I'm secretly hoping for something like the Euphoria engine in GTA4 :-pp

That interview could be good, especially if he answers questions differently to the human broken record that is David Rutter...

Thanks for info JayD cant wait to see more of the stuff plus all the write ups.

Shame you couldnt take videos but nevermind Leipzig it will be look forward to seeing collision system sounds immense.

Sounds brilliant! :)) Also the way you wrote that seems as if the "big" online feature is a PS3 exclusive WOW that is big, 360 owners will not be happy if thats the case.

my point is, i will be jumping with joy in finaly beating u rather then beating the AI on the hardest mode lol.

dont you enjoy beating coopz more then the ai?

i can see JB geting it for the ps3 then if it was a major exclusive. maybe coopz has a reason to get a ps3 then if the ps3 version is the one with the revolutionary feature
