Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Because it would also mess up the timer and the actions of the game. The fast player might have 4 shots on goal in a minute, where as a slow person would have 1 or 2.
yea could do. i see Home/Away matches being a good thing has say im playing away againts u and u choose teh fifa 08 speed(which i find a snail crawling along the floor faster then my players running) and then when i play the return leg on euro 08 speed it could become interesting

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

So a "Fifa" guy has left FSB and the WENB guys are taking over FSB

now that is bad news

at least with the Fifa guys they were honest and asked the right questions but the WENB guys have been slated for there handling, fanboyism and somewhat porky pie telling with PES

I hope they dont take over for good

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

I've been as critical as anyone about certain members of WENB but I've had the chance to chat with them recently in private and I've been impressed with the honesty and humility, mistakes were made in the past regarding PES and they've been learned from, I don't hold out much hope or interest in PES but I firmly believe FSB will represent the interests of the Fifa community fully, honestly and as well as they're able to.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

on the podcast regarding speed

slow, medium, fast

he said the response times are the same on all, not much diff between slow and medium they cldnt really tell and fast was more rapid like pes2008 speed

also he said that he left it on default speed which was slow :)

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Nice work on mirrors Placebo

Excellent videos cant wait for next ones now. :))

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

the distance seems fine when the video is shown at old trafford, however the video at anfield there is quite a distance between the crowd and field, which isnt like this in real life as there is only like a couple of meters from the edge of the goal net to the stand.

I think it's caused by EA using a standard pitch size in all stadiums. Obviously this is not the case in real life as pitch sizes can vary greatly. Therefore this is why there is a large gap around the pitch at some stadia (like Anfield) because the pitch there in real life is bigger than the one used by EA. Otherwise, the developers would have to shrink the stadium around the pitch, which would be inaccurate.

Just a theory.:TU:

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Some aspects of the video worry me. Slow reaction of the keepers, players falling over all over the place, cage nets, static crowd, still the delay in cheering when you score. I didnt see much to impress me really except maybe the passing and Van Persie's goal.

Think that's about enough mirrors for each, any problems let me know, I'll be off drinking coffee and watching the 2 videos, too much time mirroring, not enough time watching ;)

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Almunia looked way out of position for Chelsea's second goal, even going to the opposite corner and making a VERY late dive to his right.

Not sure if I like that or not.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

would be nice to be able to play together in the arena, for example 5v5, have your 5 team mates messing about in the arena while we are waiting in the lobby

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Looks excellent - an evolution rather than revolution - but the fact they are moving forward is great. Reminiscent of konami in their prime - tweaking here and there to develop an almost perfect experience for its era.

Now fix the nets ha ha

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

the gameplay improvements are looking good, but there are still some annoying things, that could have been fixed (easily):

- yes, the nets...
- too short replays, the endings need to be longer. they are cut, as soon as the ball crosses the line. I want to see the ball bounce back into the field and the players' reactions...
- silly/unrealistic keeper saves are still in: 2nd videogameszone.de video @ 5:15. Those kind of saves stopped me from playing FIF08
- keepers still don't get injured/booked (as far as I know from the interviews)

this isn't meant to be a FIFA bashing. I'm still looking forward to this game.

WENB own FSB so for the time being they will be doing most of the posts and podcasts until a new editor is chosen. But even still the blog itself will always be under their control. Which is fine. Suffwan's opinion on FIFA 09 seemed both accurate and honest. :))

I believe this isnt a flaw. It happened in 08 because of momentum, if you wrong foot the goalie he will dive late because he has to 'regain' his momentum. With the drogba goal, he does a quick unexpected turn before his shot, with I believe wrong footed the goalie.
