FC Barcelona Thread

Btw, talking about the game last night. One word: Victor Valdes. 10/10, no doubt.

Yes, definitely. I can't understand how some people still denies him the right to be considered a Top 5 goalkeeper. Yesterday he saved us from a very big loss, we could have easily lost by 2 or 3 if not for him.

Because most people form impressions of players VERY quickly and then are incapable of letting it go and hang on to it tightly through many years!

So unfortunately for Victor, years ago, he made some mistakes which in the eyes of the average public deemed him as NOT 'safe' and a weak link in Barca team. Fast forward a few years, and he's VASTLY improved! From a shaky average keeper, he's turned into one of the world's very best! But for most people, they still see the old Valdes but simply acknowledge that he's improved and so rate him as (good - very good) instead of seeing his full improvement and his complete development which is more from (Average ---> Good ---> Very good ----> Excellent!)

The other factor is that he's a bit of a piece of $hit so many people dislike him. And so subconsciously they don't want to admit he's that great!

he`s a tool through n through...when Abidal got a scratch on his face laying head down. Mr. Tool goes running to him like Nurse Jackie , he cares for his imagine only . I dislike phonies

I think this was extremely out of place, bebo, what's wrong with being worried by a teammate that has received a kick in the face? I don't understand what's wrong there. As PLF says, some people put tags on a player for life and will criticize them for anything they do.

Valdes is not a likable person drekkard. He might be a good person off the field but he doesn't progress that image on it. His antics are way over dramatic at times. He is not like Iniesta or Messi.

I don't think he is underrated. Some people dislike him so they won't mention him but he is surely is my top 5 list. I can think of several GKs who are getting a lot less recognition with respect to what they deserve than Valdes.

Oh yes, I understand and accept that some people don't like him or his attittude on the pitch. He's had some questionable episodes that I haven't liked at all. Though actually not that many, compared to other players!

I can recall similar things by Casillas and other keepers in Spain last season, but for some reason people don't like Valdes much and has marked him. No problem there. There's people who just don't seem likable for many.

But earlier I was refering to the incident with abidal. Why the hell he's not allowed to go to see his teammate and worry about it or moan to the referee? It's that what I didn't get. I mean, it seems that he is being accused of... being Valdes! Yes, he's guilty of that. But I can't see what he did wrong on that incident. Khedira could have injured very very badly Abidal. It's one of those tackles that you don't want to ever see in a pitch.

It's a matter of love-or-hate and even if he does something ordianry, people judge him harshly. Surely it has had an impact in his rating as a goalkeeper (the best of the world on 1vs1 by far).

 from the goal mouth seriously ?! no other players could come only Nurse Jackie! Khedira held his hand as soon as he struck`em . You may feel otherwise rightly so! as a neutral his reaction was apologetic at whim.

:LMAO:

It's like Zeem and I said, Valdes is a bastard cunt so most people don't like him and don't wanna admit how good he is. It does cloud their judgment.

And yeah the guy is way over dramatic and always looking to have spotlight on him, cameras on him by doing some silly shit. He loves running from his f'n goal all the way to halfway line to protest referee as much as he can. Someone should tell him to just do his f'n job and make those amazing saves and STAY in your goal! lol

Valdes may even be as good as Casillas these days but he will never be as popular or as well liked and that's understandable. Iker is no saint and like any human being, makes rash decisions at times but he's definitely a much bigger role model than Victor will ever be.

I think 09/10 was the season which I started taking notice of how good he was, He seemed the best candidate for Spain's number one but never even got into the squad.

Just in the 85th minute of the second leg of the supercopa - what entertainment.

Some of the play is just magical.

But, as always, I find the whole spectacle tainted by the sheer amount of gamesmanship. It's almost as if every tackle, clean or otherwise, requires a dive, holding of one's face and your team mates demanding cards.

WTF, never knew Barca were an hour in front. We're talking 1am now, LOL.

Fabregas, 6 years or so without a medal..............1 day at Barca, Super Cup...............LOL.

Wow, that 'tackle' from Marcelo is just disgraceful. I hope he gets a proper ban. Cesc's first 10 minutes in La Liga and he could very easily have done his knee. With 1 minute left.

Typical Classico finish. No discipline, no grace, no humility and lots of actors on a stage. Interrupted occassionally by a moment of magic which reminds people it's a football game.

Maybe that's what the Spanish want from their football, but I certainly find it distasteful.

It's no classico without the fights. Thought it was a very dramatic and eventful game. I know the stuff you described isn't 'good', but I personally enjoy it. It really adds character to these clashes. It's like Milan-Inter. 1 bad tackle and a whole fight kicks off.

2 games thought and more football played in it that the whole Premier League came up with over the weekend. Even the ex-pro's saw it that way who thought it was a poor start.

Sorry, La Liga is fare better to watch than what you get in the EPL.

It can happend everywhere, not only in Spain.. Marcelo should be punished.. there is plenty emotions but this is job and they are performing for people, this should be punished without a doubt..

there imo should have been two red cards for Madrid palyers in the first match already.. but that´s just my opinion..

Of course the quality is better between Real and Barca. Their 'last minute' substitutions were Fabregas and Kaka ffs!

Those two teams are the best collections of footballers in history. The power shift has never been as concentrated towards the top, ever, imo.

Either of those teams would walk the premier league (and every other league) so easily it would be embarrassing.

Love these classicos. Unleashes the devil in each team. You're never going to have a clean battle in these games. Tensions and nerves will always get to the players.

The ref did a good job. This game is always going to be hard to handle.

Real are improving which is a disaster for the rest of European teams, just need that effecient striker. Cristiano and Benzema waste a lot of chances.

I don't see it and I watched that like 3 times but I guess he must have because I've never seen Ozil so mad in my life! He was absolutely livid!!

just between 0:37-38, happens just in front of pique and özil's head moves back suddenly.
