FC Barcelona Thread

They play 1 through the centre (Villa), Messi roaming from the right as usual. So unless Zlatan can manage to play from the left or be happy to be a backup then fine otherwise they don't need him.
 
But lately Messi isn't playing just in the right, hes more like in the center going both sides dribbling, going back and passing, he is doing it all basically, so there's no problem playing with two forwards in front of him.
Making a diamond midfield a DMF Xavi and Iniesta with Messi in the middle but really close to the forwards.
 
Well I did say "roaming". Barcelona won't move from their 4-3-3, The reason Messi was more central was down to a lack of threat down the middle otherwise.

But I think he did a tremendous job playing there, and I can see Villa, Ibra, Messi working like that.
I'm up to cover your side, but attack free point-of-view, I don't like players that stick to his position and wait for the team to work.
But I'm from Brazil's school.
 
Villa could possibly play from the left, like Henry did.

That could be a plan B for Guardiola, like before when he used to swap Messi and Eto'o.
 
But Eto'o can play out wide and Messi can play in any offensive position. Can Villa actually play on the left?
 
Yeah they could play Villa from the left and Zlatan through the middle but United could play Rooney from the left and Berbatov through the middle also.

Villa was bought because of what he brings and thats mainly through the centre because Zlatan couldn't deliver.
 
Yep, Villa will mainly play in the center, but also a lot in the wings. Barcelona wingers swap positions constantly with the striker and create spaces and diagonal runs to receive assists. Villa fits like a glove in the barcelona style of play, like Eto'o did. It's Ibra who is still lacking a bit to finally explode. Note that I like him and he offers things no other play can in the squad right now, like being a reference up for long balls and pivot to the offensive midfielders.

If you look at the numbers, Ibra is more effective in chances/goals than Villa, but Villa is more like a hammer and never stops, so he ends up creating a lot more chances than Ibra because of his runs and vision of the play. I like to have both styles in the squad. You always need different solutions.

And all of this can go to shit if we sell Touré, who is currently the best DMF in Europe. I still can't understand why the hell Guardiola prefers Busquets to him. It's a mistery...
 
Yep, it was a lower offer that what have been speculated. Offering 35 M€ seems so low for Barcelona to get Cesc. But don't get so confident, this is only the first step in the deal. I still mantain, as I have said before, that Barcelona will get Cesc this summer for around 45-50 M€.

I would prefer Toure to stay as I've said a million times... But they talk about City offering 35 M€ for toure, and with the elections at barcelona, everyone will get mad to sign Cesc, so he will end up here. Barcelona will start piling pression to Arsenal, the player wants to come and at the end it will all go through. Not that I like it, even less this way, but...
 
The thing is fab is priced at 50m now but what of he has a blinder at the world cup. His price tag will increase even more.

You won't get him for less than 60m IMO .
 
The interest of Barcelona is quite clear. We need another creative midfielder to rotate with Xavi and Iniesta. There are lots of matches per season and this year, for example, Iniesta missed half season due to injuries. Xavi also had some and is past 30 years, so it's quite clear Cesc is needed for the future, and is better to have him sooner than later.

That said, I think we need more Toure than Cesc right now, because if Touré leaves, we have no plan b in the midfield. Cesc is a similar player to Iniesta and Xavi, while Toure is unique in our squad. Keita and Busquets are not half as good as Yaya. But his future seems to be far, in the Premier League. (Resigned....)

About Cesc, I think he would play at least as much as Iniesta during the season, and next year he will be playing already more minutes than Xavi... that presuming Cesc finally signs for Barcelona, of course, which right now is only a possibility.

Well, I assure you Touré is many many times better than Keita in all aspects. Ask the fans, ask anyone who watches Barcelona matches during the whole season!

To start, Touré can play as CB, DMF, CMF and AMC, while Keita only plays as CMF or LMF. Touré has an impressive passing and shooting skill, while Keita can't do a through pass to save his life. Touré also has an impressive ability to control the ball and even play at first touch.

Touré has also better positioning and plays better with his body, barging and recovering balls at a much higher rate than Keita.

The best matches in the last 2 years have happened with Touré in the field and the worst matches happened without him playing. I firmly believe we would have won at San Siro with Touré there. Busquets is a clown compared to the big Yaya.

Simply, Touré is one of the (if not the) best DMF in the world, while Keita is simply a good player to enter rotations in midfield.

...and now Yaya is off to City where I just cannot work out how he'll fit. Nothing wrong with De Jong or Barry, but one of them will need to shift to accomodate him.

Football really is getting silly - seems more about buying big for the sake of buying big rather than picking a position you need filling.

His gone now mate and i reckon its so you got the cash to bag fabregas instead. you bidded 29m for and now you just sold toure for what? 20-30m? you now have 50-60m to get fabregas so his all yours mate. cheers for the money and good luck
 
Cool well ask yourself. Where do you think you can get teh extra cash to get Fabregas? Last i heard, barcelona only had around 30m max to spend left on their transfer kitty.

Dont forget you just spent £35m on david villa. you guys NEED to sell one of your key players and if barcelona are so despereate in landing fabregas then a nice offer of 30m from anyone regardless if its man city or not for Toure wont be turned down.

There are rumors here about that being a solid possibility, right now: Toure and some money fo Cesc. I wouldn't like it at all, as I have stated too many times, but...
 
I think barca has more than they lead ppl to believe . They spend big ,but not for the sake of it. Only RM and City are doing the rounds . Think about it before the summer Arsenal was like never sell our captain and now, it`s well, not for peanuts :LOL:

So, I say let laporta have nothing wait until Rosell take charge play the same game back. Let Arsenal build new relations post Laporta and Rosell will do the rest :P

Toure hardly a starter hence why he wants new pastures who cares about trophies if you aint playing :LOL: toure price reaches a reality I love this quote from skysports "Everything has changed with City, because they talk a lot but then afterwards they don't appear to be a rich club but rather a bankrupt one." Failed at negotiating at best or they realize Toure is equal to de jong . Too much talk going on let`s concentrate on WC lol

Guardiola had been testing different systems all year. Some sites speculated he was also trying to prepare the team for a system that could encompass Fabregas as well.

I don't think Barcelona will hang on with their teeth at the 4-3-3. Any system can be offensive and they need to be surprising or they'll utterly fail as teams are catching up on how to break the "magic".
