FC Barcelona Thread

I hope he does, but in several years from now! But I can see him training in italy as well (he has a love for Brescia after the years he spent there).

Yesterday we played really really bad but won 0-5. It was an unfair result actually. Tenerife deserved a lot more. Football is like that.

We finally lost our first match in la liga. Atlético played on the counter, as usua, and we didn't find our pace during the game. We could have drawn easily, but atlético had some clear chances when we went all out attacking. We had many injured and suspended players so Bartra made his way into the first team for the first time. He played ok, the problem was in the midfield. Strange how we have more injuries when we play less matches...

We have a lot of injuries right now: Dani Alves, Xavi, Touré, Keita, Abidal, Chigrinsky... 5 of them are starting players! I hope it stops there and we can recover some of them for the Champions fixtures.

Don't worry, you still have Ángel María Villar.
I'm not questioning Barça's quality, you remain the best team in the world though your football has worsened this season, but when I see a guy like Maxwell bash Reyes without sanction I thought to myself: "hum what would happened if was Ronaldo?"
Although I don't support the theories of these crappy spanish newspapers, I may believe that Villarato thing is acceptable.

I think it's an stupidity to say these thinks, as many other people (Madrid's Raul, Pellegrini and Xabi Alonso included) has said many times in the last few weeks.

Guess you haven't seen the match against Osasuna when Ibra was tripped by the last defender and the referee saw nothing, or the 7 blatant penalties that didn't concede us in the first 7 matches, or the goals disallowed to Ibra by no reason... I guess you are either reading the shitty spanish newspapers or trying to justify Ronaldo for some reason.

There is a clear difference between Maxwell and Ronaldo. Maxwell committed a clear foul? Yes, as other Atletico players did fouls in the match and weren't banned (Reyes included, bro).
Maxwell broke the nose of Reyes by trying to hit him as hard as possible as Ronaldo did some weeks ago? Nope. So that's why Ronaldo was banned and Maxwell wasn't.

I try to be reasonable and you can see what I post in the madrid's thread, but people talking about "Villarato" and this silly things are simply puppets.

PS: Marca even falsifies news. 2 weeks ago they put a photo in which they had erased the grass lines and they had drawn a "wrong perspective" line trying to justify Pedro had scored in offside against Sporting. You could clearly see the photo in other newspapers in all Spain and Pedro was in a right position, as even the Sporting players agreed. Spanish newspapers have always been shit, all of them. But this year Marca and As are even worse, you know why? Because ACS shares participations of the economical group controlling that press. And you know who's the CEO of ACS?

Yep, Florentino Pérez. After spending 300 million € in players they can't stand Barcelona in front of them...

@the special one - Ummm... "things you're supposed to say if you're frustrated." for 200.

... but you're supposed to put them in the form of a question.

I'm sorry.

No no, you’re both aren’t getting the point.

Once again I say: Barcelona is still the best team in the world. Unfortunately to me, you are miles away from Madrid (last night we saw that).

I read Marca, As, El Mundo Deportivo and Sport. I must say to you, it's a shame for a country like Spain to have such shitty newspapers. I always try to watch things in a neutral view, so that's why I read both Madrid and Catalonian newspapers and make my own conclusions. I also watch every week (or almost every week) Spanish league games (Madrid every game; Barça 3 or 4 per month).

In Spain, like in Portugal or Italy, the big teams are always favoured by the referees. As I admit Madrid is favoured by the refs you must say the same about Barça. There is no Villarato here, rather, the Villarato exists for Tenerife, Leixões or Siena. Small teams are always the victims. The Villarato theory begins when he talk about criteria duality. Maxwell committed a fault? Yes he did. Did he deserve a red card? Absolutely not! But (and there is always a but) 2 weeks before in Santiago Bernabeu, a player called Cristiano Ronaldo, when moving to the attack, hits Mtiliga with no intention. Did he break his nose? Unfortunately yes but HE HAD NO INTENTION! I play football with my friends and sometimes one of us get hurt but this is normal in football, as is normal in basketball, normal in any sport. Cristiano Ronaldo is an aggressive player (in a positive way) but he isn’t malicious, you can ask any United fan and surely he will answer you just like me. You will watch the video carefully and realise what I’m saying. Plus, you will see Mtiliga was trying to play rugby or something else because he tried many many times to hold Cristiano.

I strengthened my idea for the last time. I’m not here to attack Barcelona or either to support Marca and Villarato deal. I’m here to defend Ronaldo and criticize the criteria duality in spanish football.

And yes m7m_teddy, you’re right. I’m really frustrated and isn’t because of Barça but yes because of the lack of organization and planning in Madrid. This is another question that we can discuss in Madrid thread.

YouTube - Real Madrid VS Málaga [2-0] Expulsión Cristiano Ronaldo CR9

PS: Let me say one thing. Here, in Portugal, we have our own Villarato and I’m just like you in this case. FC Porto fans are saying that Benfica is favoured by the League and bla bla bla. Their problem is quite simple: this season we are stronger than them. So they try to create a conspiracy theory about our 1st place to justify their weakness.

First part:

Maxwell committed a regular foul without result of injury.
Ronaldo committed an intentional foul that resulted in a serious injury, even though he didn't want to injure the player.

I mean he intentionally HITS the player, there's no doubt about it (why on earth would he move the arm with such strength against the opponent if it wasn't to hit him?). He didn't want to injury him, but he does! You can only break the nose and bones of the face of someone if you hit him really hard.

No one can justify this as NOT being a red. It is clearly a red card, as it was Pique tackle last week when he was sent off against Getafe. Only a fanatic would try to justify a violent action like this one.

Now read this with attention please:
Ronaldo had 1 match ban for the straight red and 1 additional match ban because it was the secondth straight card this season. He had only 2 matches. Let's see what the rules say about it...

In the rules of spanish football, if you injure someone by an action of unproportionated strength it is automatically a 4 MATCHES BAN. He broke the nose and bones of the face of the malaga player, that up to now hasn't resumed playing football. So, why the committees put only 2 matches to Ronaldo when he should have had 4? That's because the referee forgot to write that the malaga player was injured and had to abbandon the game. Madrid took benefit of that and the committee only put 2 matches ban to Ronaldo.

So, where on earth do you see irregularities against madrid here, man?

PS: The fact big teams tend to have more benefit of referee mistakes is also due to big teams spending a lot more of time in the opponent's area. Barcelona can have an average of 70% of possession through a match. It's obvious the other team will commit more fouls, have more cards and possibly incur in doubtful actions in the own area. It's been always like that, teams that attack more tend to receive more fouls and penalties.

Beyond that, I agree there's a little more "respect" of the referees towards big teams than smaller teams, but not on a regular basis, it depends on the referee's personality.

I was wondering when your lack of strength in depth would work against your side after such an injury free season last season.

You're right there, last year we were the best because we also were the luckiest. People forgets luck is a great contender each year. Let's hope we can win something at the end and sign several good players for the next season. We actually lack a lot of depth in the bench.

Barcelona badly needs a right defender to cover Daniel Alves and give come competition for the Brazilian. Some to at least cover Xavi, Cesc would be awesome. And a backup for Titi, since Pedro isn't as productive in the left as he is on the right. With these "addons" i think Barcelona would have a solid squad.

Azpilicueta
Ribery
Do you agree?

My hopes are to see both them in Blanco. If not, at least get David Silva, a guy who can play in left and in the middle is top priority in Madrid.

I'm excited about today's match. I want to see how good is Canales and if Barça have the same power and intensity without some players.

I don't see how any position apart from LB and CB are "major" priority for Real? Were would Ribery or Silva fit into your 4-3-1-2?.

whereas Barca have a ageing Henry on the left with Ribery or Silva looking like great fits.

outstanding job for hat-trick hero Messi can`t believe the kid is just 22 yrs old... imagine at 25 him and rooney are having a good season ,but it`s nothing new for messi he might just win the accolade again.

Hopefully you lot can win the league but I can see Real's squad depth being the difference and the fact your still in Europe. Would be great if you win La Liga and United/Barcelona lift the CL at the Bernabeu :DD

I dunno. I think its very 50/50. If either one of them picks up an injury, the other will most likely get the award. Both have been outstanding so far.

Problem with Messi is that Maradona is one of the worst coaches of all times. If Argentina continues to play the way they do,Messi can't shine at all. He needs a squad with open wings and good midfield, right now they simply pass the ball to him and expect him to dribble the whole team and score. And he can only do this one out of every two matches!

There's a World Player of the Year....................then there's Messi.

No-one can touch him.

I may well be witnessing the best player in the world during my lifetime.

Anyone got a video of the goals/highlights?

Amazing form he's in at the moment.

Best player I've seen in my whole life. And I've seen the likes of Cruyff, Maradona, Romario, Ronaldo playing in my stadium... But no one has done what that kid can do. He's only 22 and if you see a reel of ALL his brilliant plays it can double what any other did in all his life. He's only missing a World Cup to be considered the greatest ever in my oppinion... and he's only 22.
