FC Barcelona Thread

I didn't know, either, about Yaya. Very good news if true. Yaya is incredible, one of those underrated players that holds the whole team back with its positioning and great vision.

A shame he won't be playing until 19th of august due to that injury in his hand. It will be a looong summer waiting for him...

You lot are really looking strong for retaining your European crown, If that front 3 cliques then how do you defend against that? Xavi and Iniesta just controlling the game. Hopefully we see a repeat of that 6-2 demolition job against Real again :))

:... I think thats whats so frightening about their attack, will Ibra shoot, or make the killer pass to Messi? Or will Messi do the same or just take them all on. Eto'o didn't have the vision to pick out Henry or Messi whilst Ibra can be as creative as Messi and Iniesta.

Its a bit late and its only a friendly, but Messi just killed Seattle, wonderful performance. The cantera keeps delivering, scoring another Barça masterpiece in the second half. Hard to believe that those kits are under 20. Such a brilliant present and such a bright future ahead of Barcelona.

It seems it will be a very hard year for us. MAinly because of the refeering. Up to now it's been scandalous. Luckily for us, we're playing so good that we still win all the games, but the last matches have had plenty of stupid decisions.

In Malaga, 3 clear penalties were not given to us, 3 aggressions of Wellington and Duda and they remained in the pitch. Sometimes it seemed a boxing match by Malaga, and they even didn't shoot to goal, they were more focused on kicking barcelona players.

It's getting a problem considering how in the last matches not a single penalty was given to us and there were blatant penalties in every match.
People here is getting suspicious since Florentino arrived to Madrid, because that man is a mobster and moves the strings in the media and business. Up to now you should know that Florentino signed a referee (Megia Davila) for Madrid to "improve the relationships with referees".

It seems this year Madrid players will be able to do what they want (Drenthe broke the leg of a player this weekend without being sent off) and Barcelona players will be like boxing bags.

The good thing is we play better, we are better and will show it on the pitch even if the opponents are more focused to hunt us than to play football.

That's the problem when you play such beautiful football, people realise the only way to stop it is to hack your players down.

And if Florentino is giving the orders to the referees then you'll be kicked off the top spot and replaced by Real.

Still, I will absolutely love it when you destroy Madrid in the Bernabeu again (and it WILL happen because you're a better team).

I didn't watch the full game against Malaga so i can't comment about the referees, yet this is already coming from last season when people realised (just like matherto said) that the only way to stop barça is by injuring some1 in the team.

But i could watch a large bit of the Real game and when drenthe did that tackle i said straight away "that guy is out of this match" and expecting a red to drenthe. The first turned out to be true the second part didn't (did he even receive a yellow?).

Lets just hope florentino won't f*ck up this season with refs and messi getting an injury, because i really want to re-live those 6-2. :D

Another victory though we played the worst match in months. That said, Almeria only had one chance to shoot in all the match, but still...

What worries me again is refereing. Another clear penalty that the referee missed. It's being blatant, in 6 matches we've had 0 penalties and we should have had at least 7!

Glad to see Sevilla taking a step up. We need more teams to compete in La Liga right now.

Barça wins the spanish classic :BOP:

Did anyone else think it was kind of a rubbish game, no matter how much the commentators tried to convince us otherwise? I don't watch the Spanish league very often, but I honestly think the maximum time between fouls was under 2 minutes, and that was just when Barcelona decided to play keep ball in unthreatening situations.

Seriously, is Spanish football always that soft? Messi's great trick seems to be use his world-best close control to run into a crowd and then fall over, inevitably drawing yellow cards and fouls.

Watching Arse/Chelsea then the classico I really believe Chelsea would blow Barca off the map if they played each other at the moment. Unless the ref was, as last night, interested in making football a non-contact sport.

It was a strange match, of course, but I think the referee was quite good to be honest. There were hard tackles and soft tackles. Barcelona is recovering from injuries and Ibra, Messi and Toure aren't still at their peak, that's 3 important starters, as well as Ronaldo who just played his first match in a month for madrid.

I also watched Chelsea - Arsenal and it was a good match, but the Premier and La Liga are very different styles of football and you never know who would win in a face to face encounter. Last year Chelsea was better at Stamford and lost, while Barcelona was better at home and drew. But with all the stars of both teams at their top, I think it's only small details that would decide.

About Messi going through defenders, it's something no one else in the world is able to do. Watch the replays and see how he dribbles everyone until someone tackles him. That's a foul, here and in london. It's only that he is too good.
