FC Barcelona Thread

yeah, it really seems that's going to happen.. some say he's already packing to leave
too sad, a great striker that I'd wanna see winning titles for Palmeiras, but that's football in Brazil, a talented player appears and soon he's on his way to Europe..

at least he's going to Barça.. at first, as u said, on loan for Valencia, but them I bet he'll be able to dig his place on Barça's team
an awesome striker, has good game vision, plays for the team, and is only 20 y.o., has a lot to learn and improve

Yep, when all those millionaire stars come here they will return to madrid with the pants on their knees. No matter how many millions is Florentino stealing to the entire country, they won't have Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Dani Alves... We will play again with 7 players raised in the club and crash them again, only this time the satisfaction will be even bigger.

The more they sign the more I just love our club policy of combining big signings with a big investment in youth talents.

I have to say its great how Barca do business, You could EASILY do what they do but instead have invested in some great youth players and balanced that out with "some big buys". If im correct Ronaldo costs more than your entire first 11?

[2] on that

its already great to see a team that has its base in "home" players, add that all are great players and the team won the Triple Crown.. its simply amazing

David Villa is THE best striker in the world right now, hes so efficient and he got will to to play , just look at him the euros are in the confe cup he was the one trying to produce things and lift up his team. I seriously dont understand drakkard point of sayin he doesnt have will to surpass when he basiclly challenge himself to succes every game...

I've seen him play in valencia for some time. He's a very good striker, no doubt about it, but I don't think he's world class. It's my opinion and I now I'm in minority here. But he's lacking so many things I would expect from his position. No aerial play, no pivoting, no very good vision of the play (he tends to shoot and finish plays when he could pass the ball to an open player, he's a bit selfish and he's not a clinical finisher, even if he scores a lot of goals, some of them by taking penalties). It's very similar to eto'o, but samuel is also one of the best defenders in the world.

Concluding, Villa is above average, but he has nothing that makes him a special player. He won't make the team play better, he only finishes. He's a specialist. In barcelona right now you need to bo something else to make the ball move quickly.

Compared to Ibrahimovic, Benzema, Tévez, Rooney, Eto'o, Forlan and even Luis Fabiano, I thinnk he's just a step away.

Interesting, I think he's much better than Tevez and Luis Fabiano. Forlan's probably not as good either.

I understand your point but the thing is, you've seen him play in system that oblige himself to play like this... I mean who was willin to take shots and take responsability to score in a spanish team system? the strikers only... at valencia, its the same thing striker just need to get in position and shoot, In a barca system I think he will just be better cause he got all the thing you said he dont have...he score from every position, and YUS hes a clinical finisher, average in the air but who care barca dont play in the air, hes pivots are world class, perfect touch, solid left foot, he get about 70% of his shot on target wich is more than world class, to me he could blow as the best in the world in a barca shirt.

Well, I hope you're right if barcelona signs him. I would have prefered Benzema but now it's impossible.

Maybe my problem is I like a different kind of player. Rooney, for instance, who I think has been the key player in Machester these years. He can do anything, passing, crossing, shooting, heading, pressing...

Let's see how things develop!

PS: Now there are rumours of Arshavin willing to come. Even if it sounds too strange to be true as he has been recently signed, he would be a great signing. I prefer him over Ribery, actually, for the kind of play barcelona has. Ribery won't find lots of spaces in Spain, while Arshavin seems to be more a team player that can act in different positions, and he can score and assist at the same rate.

What I don't understand is why on earth we didn't sign him last year. Specially when Arsenal signed him for 15 millions only!

Txiqui Beguiristain is one of the worst managers I've seen in my whole life. It's a miracle we did so good last year...

because when barca enquired about him zenit were asking for £20m + so barca told em where to go. arsenal had to work hard just to get it down to 15

Well, that's the words: "work hard". Txiki Beguiristain, the man responsible of signing players in Barcelona, never heard that those 2 words could coexist in the same phrase. He could mentally collapse only by hearing it!

Lets start a real discussion here because we deserve it, besides we are the best team in Europe and Spain and we play the most attractive/effective football in the world.
What do you guys think will be changed in Barcelona? I think we need to strengthen out bench, we don't have many options there.
Btw for gods sake KEEP TOURE! The man is a beast! Versatility and work are his surnames! (CB, DMF, MC) heard he may leave for Mascherano? god no way in the world i would trade even 2 mascheranos for Yaya, a guy that loses his temper (from what ive often seen from him) and doesn't honestly fit that well, can't rate him as hard working, correct me if im wrong, at least like Yaya.
For next season, we need some1 to sub Xavi (have a bad feeling he won't play the same as last year And that something is going to happen. Iniesta as no replacement only an actual clone of himself would work and that not permitted by FIFA (damn you blatter! lol)
But can some1 just clear this one out for me, why are we getting rid of our most successful striker this year that plays perfectly with Titi and Leo? I honestly don't get it..

I can't see you guys doing anywhere near as good as last season again, at least for a LONG while.

I remember when we won the Treble in 1999, a Treble that was a lot more competitive than yours due to the quality Arsenal and Chelsea had back then, who pushed us all the way in both domestic competitions.

Our players collectively took their foot off the gas and became complacent.

And once Guardiola's extended honeymoon period is over, who knows what will happen?

But I wish your team good luck for next season, because you're definitely going to need it.

strong words my friend
i'm a big fan of yaya, but nobody can do what masch does today
temper, no. passionate, yes. too much and only MOTD viewing i suppose?
anyway when it comes to dmf's, look no further than javier. there's a lot of talk about alonso right now, but i think masch is more important. actually both are equally important, i just think in terms of what they do masch does his job better than alonso. his tackling and break up play is crazy.

toure on the other hand can do a lot more things, but i wouldn't trade 100 toures for half a masch

Our players collectively took their foot off the gas and became complacent.

Look no further than Barcelona 2006. They played nothing, Real played nothing [they had a great game beating us 2-0 in the Bernabeu] and in the end we ended up with the same number of points.

It'll be hard, and i'm more afraid because of complacency than Real. I mean they could've had Ronaldo and Kaka last year and I'm sure we would've still won La Liga [their only difference would have been being eliminated in the QF of the CL], but this year... i'm not so sure.

Touré is the best dmf in the world and he's staying. They want to sign Mascherano because touré and Keita will go 2 months to the African Cup in winter, so we need another deffensive midfielder to rotate the squad.

We need a left winger and a left back, and probably a center back as I doubt Milito will play professional football again in Europe.

I have already stated before that Eto'o is my favourite Striker for barcelona. I wouldn't sign Villa if it means letting go eto'o.

About complacency, I doubt it. Alves, Puyol, Messi, Touré, Eto'o are all very competitive and professional, unlike Ronaldinho, Deco, Motta and the likes...

You used to have great talents for the midfield in your cantera. I see no need to buy a DMF. Marquez, Busquets or a young guy can make it when Toure will be in CAN. I think you should buy a left back. I hate Abidal, to be honest. I also wouldn't sign Villa.
As a Madrid fan I honestly hope you are strongest as last year to have a great La Liga. Ah, I also want a strong Atlético, Villareal and someone else to challange the big 2.

Useless discussion, its just like comparing Messi to Ronaldo, even after a game we still can't come up with a final conclusion.
In the end it all comes to personal oppinions, for Premier League watchers its Mascherano for La Liga its Yaya.

 I love how Abhi brings up Cambiasso after their linked with him.

De Rossi isn't really a DM though more of a Essien type player.

mascherano is not a MILE BETTER than Toure, toure is underrated and he to me is better than masch cause hes cool under intense pressure and stay calm, while masch keep getting silly red cards season per seasons. plus barca is a very small team in term of height and toure provided a bit of posture in the central of the park while masch is quite average small like the rest of the barca midfield.

Masch has got ONE, ONE red card in his Liverpool career. Not exactly, season after season, right?
