I heard today you guys are gonna sign Scott McDonald from Celtic. Not sure how accurate it is but it wasnt in the papers.

so where did you here it then?

Four quality signings

No matter who we sign in the summer, we will have FOUR quality players who were not available last season

1) Arteta - let's be honest, he was not the real 'Teta because of his stomach injury. Expect to see the best of him next season.
2) Tiny Tim - perhaps his return to fitness will be the single most important occurence of the summer. We all know how important he is!
3) Baines - another we failed to see the best of, but has the potential to be a great little player. Although Lescott was excellent LB, think Baines is a bit more natural going forward and at least has a left foot.
4) Vaughan - injury aside, he's a prodiguous talent. Two seasons ago, him and AJ formed a seriously potent strike force and i, for one, can't wait to see more of him. He's miles better than big Vic.

So there we have it, irrespective of future signings we know that next season we will al ready be much stronger. Think 3 of the above 4 wil probably feature heavily in the first 11 next season, and expect to Vaughan to get a load of subs games if fit.

2007/2008 Premier League TV Revenue

WHO GOT WHAT?

How the money is distributed

The Premier League’s TV broadcasting deals brings in £2.7 billion over three years. Of this, £22.8 million is paid to every Premier League club as part of an equal share of revenue. On top of this, clubs are paid prize-money relative to their final position in the league (Manchester United got £14.4 million, Derby got £720,000) and then earnings from the live matches in which they are featured (Manchester United, with 25 matches, made £12.1 million, while Derby got the guaranteed minimum payment for clubs no-one watches of £5.6m).

The standout factor from this is that there’s so much money to go around that you can’t argue just about financial impoverishment any more. Yes, the gap between the top and bottom has increased, but the sheer amount of money earned by all clubs means that a club like Sunderland, relegation scrappers last season, can now afford £10m players if they can convince them to come on board.

Some more interesting stats:

Aston Villa will reap £42.3million after finishing in sixth place, compared with the £22.4million they collected in the 2006-07 season.

Everton, too, have earned a huge improvement, with their fifth place, banking a cheque of £42.1million, compared with £25.3million last year.

Newcastle United followed Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool into fourth place as the team most shown on live television. The result was that Newcastle earned almost £10million from 20 live screenings.

Chelsea on the other hand had 18 live matches, bringing them £9.1million.
Survival for Fulham meant £31.3million. Being the fourth-worst team in the league nets you more money than the 2nd best team earned last season. Jesus…

Reading, Birmingham City and Derby this season - receive “parachute payments” for the first two seasons outside the top flight to soften their landing in the second tier. These payments are up from almost £6.5million to £11.4million.

Cahill recovery on schedule

TimCahill2_589172.jpg

Everton midfielder Tim Cahill is confident he will be fit for the start of the next season.

Cahill missed the close of Everton's 2007/08 campaign as he was forced to undergo an operation on a persistent foot injury after breaking a metatarsal in March.

The Australian international is now in Sydney where he has begun a swimming rehabilitation programme and Cahill feels his recovery is progressing well.

"Everything is going right on schedule," Cahill said on Friday.

"I have seen the specialists again, and they let me go in the swimming pool today. I had a long session which was pretty tiring.

"The swelling has gone down, and everything looks really good."

Cahill originally underwent surgery for a metatarsal injury in 2007, but the 28-year-old has suffered two separate setbacks before again breaking the bone two months ago

it nearly worked as efc fought back to lose 3-2

Before the 1990/91 season started, Southall handed in a written transfer request. Harvey said that we'd listen to offers for him, but they'd have to be huge ones to consider letting him go. I remember stories in the papers at the time, linking him with the likes of Barcelona for £3m+, which was a huge fee at the time.

First game of the 1990/1991 season saw us 2-0 down at home to just promoted Leeds Utd. We had also missed a penalty in the first half. You couldn't get a worse start to the season, in front of a pretty much full house at Goodison. Southall came out early, 5 minutes before the second half started, totally alone. There were no subs warming up or Hit The Bar stuff on the pitch in that day. He walked towards the Old Park End, which was full of Leeds fans in both tiers and he clapped them. Then he sat down at the foot of his post. Everyone started to boo. Not good. We went on to lose the game 3-2. Harvey claimed in his book to be unaware of what had happened until after the match when he was interviewed by Clive Tyldesley. Southall was fined one weeks wages. We lost our next two games and went bottom of the league for the first time in 31 years, since September 1959

CARS FUTURE REVEALED

efc__1209644694_.jpg

David Moyes has confirmed Lee Carsley will depart Goodison this summer - and has hailed the midfielder for his services to Everton.

The experienced Republic of Ireland international leaves Everton today, having opted not to renew his deal with the Blues in order to move to a club closer to his Midlands home and his family.

It has been a difficult decision for Carsley, and one that the manager understands.

Moyes told evertonfc.com exclusively: "I’d like to thank Lee Carsley for his years at Everton Football Club. He has undoubtedly been a big part in our success in the last few seasons.

"Lee feels he now needs to be closer to his family and everyone at the club fully appreciates that.

"We’d like to thank him he’s been a fantastic player on and off the field and he goes with my best wishes and we wish him all the best in the future."

Carsley was one of the few remaining players from the squad Moyes inherited from Walter Smith in 2002. He was included in the starting line-up for Moyes' first game at the helm against Fulham in March 2002 and has amassed an impressive 198 appearances for the Club - 194 of which were under Moyes.

was dreadin this but its for the best i guess for both parties, a great servant for the club, good luck lee forever a blue carsley.....:DD

Switching sides - "Crossing the Park"
Despite the huge rivalry, Liverpool have completed more direct transfers with Everton than any other club. Famously however, Liverpool did not buy directly from Everton between 1959 and 2000, while there was a similar "freeze" in the other direction between 1961 and 1982. The list below shows transfer dates and fees, where known

Everton then Liverpool

Abel Xavier 2002 £750,000 (only player to play in both derby matches for both teams in the same season)
Nick Barmby 2000 £6m (the highest fee Liverpoool have paid Everton)
Dave Hickson 1959 £12,000 (also played for Tranmere Rovers one of only three players to play for all three Merseyside league clubs still in existence)
Tony McNamara 1957 £4,000
John Heydon 1949 no fee (also played for Tranmere Rovers one of only three players to play for all three Merseyside league clubs still in existence)
Bill Harthill 1936
Jack Balmer 1935 no fee
Thomas Johnson 1934
Frank Mitchell 1919 (also played for Tranmere Rovers one of only three players to play for all three Merseyside league clubs still in existence)
Bill Lacey 1912 part of exchange deal for Uren (Lacey also played for New Brighton, one of five players to have played for three different Merseyside clubs)
Andrew Hannah, captain with both Everton and Liverpool
Tom Gracie 1912 part of exchange deal for Uren
Don Sloan 1908 no fee
David Murray 1904
Abraham Hartley 1897
Alex Latta 1986 (Did not make a senior appearance for Liverpool)
Fred Geary 1895 £60
John Whitehead 1894
Patrick Gordon 1893
Duncan McLean 1892
Tom Wyllie 1892

Liverpool then Everton

Gary Ablett 1992 £750,000 (only player to win the FA Cup with both clubs)
Peter Beardsley 1991 £1m (Everton's most expensive signing from Liverpool)
Alan Harper 1983 £100,000 (though on Liverpool's books, he never made a first-team appearance)
Kevin Sheedy 1982 £100,000
David Johnson 1982 £100,000 (started at Everton, went to Ipswich Town then Liverpool then back to Everton)
Johnny Morrissey 1962 £10,000
Jimmy Payne 1956 £5,000
Dick Forshaw 1927 Only player to win the League Championship with both clubs
Harold Uren 1912 part of exchange deal for Lacey and Gracie
The following played for another/other club before moving to Everton

Arthur Berry - Played for Oxford University in between
David Burrows - Played for West Ham United in between.
Don Hutchison - Played for West Ham United and Sheffield United in between.
Dave Watson - Played for Norwich City in between.
John Gidman - Played for Aston Villa in between.
Sander Westerveld - (Loan) Played for Real Sociedad and Portsmouth in between.

with him being at the shite as a kid i think it will make him an easier target as he knows the city, and he will also be out to prove himself if indeed we bought him. exciting times.
