Re: AN EVERTON VIEW

One thing we can unite on today is the 19th anniversary of the hillsborough disaster.

RIP to all those who tragically lost their lives.

EVERTON V CHELSEA.

The Blues are finding it to hard to find the net as frequently as we did earlier in the season, but in saying that no other club in the Top Flight have conceded less then us since Xmas time. In 2008 Tim Howard and his back four teammates have only leaked six goals, and we have to go back fourteen matches since we conceded more than one goal in the Premiership. As a footnote we are still the only club in England not to be awarded a penalty in the League.
We have probably blown our chances of Champions League footy next season, but until the fat lady sings, who knows. We do now have to watch out the teams congregating behind us and consolidate fifth place and UEFA Cup football for next term. After our barren few weeks since the Fiorentina game, and with Chelses blowing their chances of the title at home to the wigan the other night, all should be set for a rip roaring Goodison night under the floodlights, and who knows by the end of it Manchester United may be one step closer to landing the Premiership courtesy of The Blues.

WE CERTAINLY HOPE SO....

RHYS JONES R.I.P.
A teenage boy will appear in court later today charged with shooting dead 11-year-old Rhys Jones as he walked home from football practice.

Rhys was gunned down in Croxteth Park, Liverpool, on August 22 last year.

The 17-year-old alleged killer will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court along with three other youths, aged 15, 16 and 17, who face charges of assisting an offender.

The 16-year-old has also been charged with possession of a firearm.

His friends pay there respect.

When the leavers’ service was held a few weeks ago at Broad Square Primary School in Liverpool, 11-year-old Rhys Jones and his friends were told that a world of opportunities was waiting for them. They were urged to grab those opportunities with both hands.

But for Rhys they disappeared in a pub car park on Wednesday night when he was shot three times in the neck and left to die in his mother’s arms. Last night, a weeping Melanie Jones spoke of her bewilderment at her son’s killing.

“My baby was only 11. He didn’t deserve this,” she said. “He was shot in the back of his neck from behind, my baby. This should not happen, this should not be going on.”

This shouldn't happen...please help us
'He fired more shots. He never flinched'
Divided by aspiration but united by violence
Her husband, Stephen, 44, a retail manager with Tesco, added: “We are devastated, we have lost our world, the world has lost a good guy.”

Last night the mood among the community in Croxteth Park, where the family lives, was one of grief and anger as residents blamed the area’s gun and gang culture for taking the life of an innocent. As schoolfriends laid floral tributes at the spot where Rhys fell, churches held special services including a candlelit vigil to remember him.

Bernard Hogan-Howe, Merseyside’s chief constable, described the shooting as the most appalling crime that he had investigated in 20 years.
