English Premier League thread

Historic club who belong in Premier League.

EPL missed Newcastle when it wasn't here, and similarly it would miss the likes of Everton and Aston Villa. It's been rough for them the past couple of years but as one of its oldest and most traditional clubs, it would be a shame to see them relegated.

Wigan (by all means a small club and a minor one compared to Aston Villa) who have previously dodged the bullet on the final day on numerous occasions are a more worthy candidate for going down and there are others as well.

Won't be sad to see Villa get relegated, myself.

same, they spent too much on bent and he don't even play so i think it is their fault, £24m i think it was. also sunday Reading vs QPR should be interesting, whoever loses this game is relegated.

Congratulations to Utd on winning title no. 20. What a strike by RVP, definite Goal of the Season for me.

Hope Utd can do us a little favour now by getting the 3pts at The Emirates :-)

More to do with their fans tbh. I used to post on their board but they changed as soon as ADUG bought City. When their owner was richer than ours they were fine...

Not the EPL just the most watched, other countries don't care for the other leagues as much. Bundles liga is the most competitive but I rather watch La Liga then SerieA . I watch Ligue1 PSG!!!

I REALLY want Villa to stay up. They have some great talent, and it's not their fault they're unable to spend beyond their means.

To be fair, Villa are where they are because the club has been run so poorly over the last decade that it's a fucking tragedy. They've sold LOADS of players for fairly nice fees, yet they are constantly broke and their squad is full of holes.

I've always liked Villa, but they deserve to go down hard and fast, several divisions so maybe some new and smarter people can build the club back up.

So Bale wins POTY and YPOTY. Not 100% sure I agree as he really wasn't great til January and still might have accomplished nothing with his team, but he's undeniably the most 'lethal on his day' player. And given RVP went through a barren spell, kind of makes sense.

Great to see De Gea in the team of the year :)

-----------De Gea------------

Zaba----Wio-----Vertonghen---Baines

-----------Carrick---------------

----Mata----Bale-----Hazard

--------Suarez---RVP----------

Carrick is gonna be bloody knackered

how the fuck can they give the POTY and the YPOTY to a player that has been booked about 47 times this season for diving? also what the fuck has Hazard done this season?

As much as i love Hazard, i would replace him by Cazorla in that team of the year.
Hazard had a very good first season, but imo Cazorla was more important for his team. Could also have been on the short list (instead of Hazard who is already on the shortlist for Young player).

Glad that De Gea made it. He got way too much criticism.

Also, all this fuss over Villa/Newcastle/Sunderland is completely moot. Wigan are doomed. Conceding that last second equaliser against Spurs was the end.

Wigan win their game in hand and they're only 2 points off Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle - a Newcastle team that looks a shambles atm and doesn't look ideal for a relegation fight.

West Brom v Wigan
Wigan v Swansea
Arsenal v Wigan
Wigan v Aston Villa

West Ham v Newcastle
QPR v Newcastle
Newcastle v Arsenal

Norwich v Aston Villa
Aston Villa v Chelsea
Wigan v Aston Villa

it will be hard for wigan but i still think they have a chance. i expect them to beat swansea who have nothing to play for and maybe draw vs wba and then they just need to go into the last game no more than 3 points behind villa and beat them, (it's wigan, they do this every year) but villa smashing in 6 goals tonight might be the difference in the end. cant see newcastle finishing with more than 38 points either. also the FA cup final could distract wigan though.

If they were to win the FA Cup but end up being relegated I'd think that would go down as one of the most fucked up seasons for an English club. "Yay we won the cup, but fuckin eh now we have to travel to Leeds Utd instead of Manchester Utd. *grumbles*"
