English Premier League thread

F'n shocking!! Sad news for EPL and Aston Villa. I'm looking forward to the start of the league just a little less now...

Martin O'Neill is the man!

I also liked him very much. I think he did a splendid job at Celtic and Villa.
I'm afraid Villa will have a disappointing season.

Not so amusing that people genuinely think he's good enough to do it though, makes me worry that that's what we'll end up with when SAF goes!

The problem with Moyes is he seems to have the Everton mentality ingrained him now - that "the whole world hates us/everyone's got more money than us/nobody's got as many injuries as us/etc." attitude which he uses an awful lot - and that might affect him in future, i can't see him leaving Everton anytime soon.

Moyes is much as part of Everton like Wenger is to Arsenal, and Fergie to Utd. Managers that stay put can win f` all and get a raise at the end of the season, well (-) Fergie he hasn`t had a drought for a minute.

Think all managers walk the thin line at some point I remember most getting sack ,not many walkin away a few maybe and some sticking it out :APPLAUD:

The closing time for gameweek 1 was 11:30am this morning jonney, you'll have to wait for the next round of games to take part.

thought Jumbo was going to crucify him ...anyhow Tangerines :APPLAUD: Very impressive Villa n Albrighton Good Lord where did he come from this Villa side seem to bring a few surprising players. Milner should stay n make Villa a force to reckon with. As for the COYS  I counted about 5 goals before the half n MCity just were everywhere no form atm at 1 point I saw Tevez,Silva and not sure the other player ,all 3 running side by side the communication was a tad off lol . Silva looked good but he`s not sure where to play at and no one seems to let him know either. Good footy today Chels were very fortunate they seem to get their gifts early Drogs hat-tricks were all gifts n 1.5 deflections :P

Can't believe chelsea won so easily. Started off the same they finished last season

Yep Albrighton and Villa looked really good against Hammers. Could've had more than 3 goals had John Carew not be wasteful.

Has everyone seen the 'football experts' top 4 predictions for the season that was on BBC Sport?!?

Now I know I am biased but the clear hate towards Man United from certain journalists is too funny, just cos SAF won't talk to the bastards.

I've got no problems with someone predicting us to do badly, I'm sure they've got their reasons like they always do but some of these are just silly!

Patrick Barclay - has an upcoming book on SAF and writes articles slating him and puts us 4th. Maybe Sir Alex wouldn't talk to him for his book but he's clearly letting his love of Arsenal's football and his dislike of Fergie heavily influence his judgement.

Sid Lowe - I saw him slagging SAF off on twitter the other day for not talking to the press, he reckons we'll come 4th!

Micky Quinn - not sure what his problem is (other than he's obviously a Liverpool fan) but he's not even got us 4th so that means 5th at the highest!?!? Come on!! Even the most staunch ABU man cannot seriously think we'll come outside the top four in a season where we've got slightly stronger and all our rivals are generally a little bit weaker, apart from City. His TalkSport mate Mark Saggers has also predicted us 4th so maybe they slag us off on there I don't know I dont listen to it.

These guys are paid a fortune to write about football for a living and it seems to me they can't even be objective when it comes down to it. At the end of the day what they write influences what Joe Public thinks and only fuels the poor football knowledge in this country.

We finished a point off the BRILLIANT Chelsea last season despite a whole host of things in our way. I can't see us finishing lower than 2nd and expect us to win it and you can bump this thread at the end of the season.;)

But if these are their actual predictions, wouldn't they wanna get them as objectively and correctly done as possible? After all, if they are 'experts', one may always look back upon their predictions and words prior to the season to see how right they were. So for the sake of their reputation, wouldn't they try to do their best? Rather than just say the team they hate (let's say they all do hate Man U and SAF), would do bad?

I'm a little confused. Cuz what do they get out of this by not picking Man Utd to do well? Other than possibly damaging own reputation?

Jumbo not everyone is in love w/ MUTD who cares if 4 or 5 doesn`t fancy your club. The majority thinks it`s btw Mutd n Chelsea .... the problem is a high % of Mutd fans are too spoil n get bent out of shape from other ppl opinions "Clear Hate" or "Not enough Love" . You posted this in the wrong thread btw

I know not everyone loves us, it's quite the opposite in fact. Maybe I didnt make it clear what I meant.

I think it's funny that these guys will do exactly what PLF said, damage their own reputation... I don't think it's coincidence that while most others put us in the top 2 or 3 (like you said) there's a few that have got us 4th and 1 outside of the top four and of those who did I've seen examples of a few of them showing clear disdain for Alex Ferguson. Come on you'd have to be an idiot to think we'd come 5th this season, what kind of ridiculous logic is that based on?

I`m not good at prediction but Pool the season before was short of the title to reduce to 7th place the next season when they were tipped to win. No one saw that .... I would feel better to predict after the 10th game it`s more telling I think. I wouldn`t thought the nike write your future is being spot on for Rooney`s scoreless months for England n Pre-season and now season! maybe Rooney should grow the beard now ;)

Jussi Jaskalaainen lost it yesterday in the match against Birminham with Roger Johnson going for that header! Any one got a good vid? Jussi is usually very cool and calm. I've never seen him lose his temper. Yet the challenge from Roger didn't look too bad. Don't know why it made him so angry! That's why I wanna have a closer better look to see if there was any malice or anything in Johnson's aerial challenge.
