English Premier League thread

If Chelsea want that diamond to work they'll need a Pirlo type player, the manager will also have to figure out how to get the best out of Essien in that system.

Depends if he can feel motivated the whole season through. I think Rooney is a good outside bet but Drogba is probably the safer option.

Think the American Jozy Altidore will do good for Hull. I'm excited about the lad he`s a strong boy who is persistent. Remember he was the one who scored in the confed. cup vs Espana

Yeah I think so too, when he came on yesterday he was very good too and linked up really well with Ghilas. They could've had 2 goals each if they'd been a bit luckier.

I'm happy with our lack of activity today (Kranjar bargain at £2million), some of the rumours involving us today were hideous.

Portsmouth has turn a new belief it seems and winning convincingly seeing the table it is pretty close. Toughest season yet me think .

Merry Christmas!!

Title buying...? Mutud won the title 3x by spending more . While Chelsea won it 2x by spending more. So, by those standards ManCity should win it this year , as history shows 3rd time is a charm.

I just heard that he was told he wouldn't be getting the Milner money to spend on more players and that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I wonder if Ashley Young will go now.

What a pity for Villa, great manager.
After Christmas he will be the manager of Man City when they sacked Mancini.

i'm just happy this has happened now and not 6 weeks ago, otherwise we'd have this cunt in charge now.

your a cruel man

Why leave now though city r helping clubs financially it wasn`t like they were taking 4 players. It`s an easy excuse to tell the boss you sell my best player n you expect me to reach what spot?!?!

Perhaps Ashlely Young is being sold b
ehind his back.

He thanked everyone except the chairman.

Why is Martin O'Neil a cunt? Not that I know him or follow english football that closely but he never gave me that impression, although I'm wondering cause I also saw other people saying this before.

Anyway I wish some players did this more often,
Your job has no ambition? Then just effin quit and don't make the club pay nothing or stay there when you don't wanna be, right Adebayor Robinho and other likes.

Oh and why Spurs need Young?

I thought Randy Lerner was the perfect chairman! That's how its seemed and how he's been painted, but apparently not.

Something's got to have happened today, I think the thing about not getting funds from the Milner transfer is most likely as he said at the weekend he'd be selling him and hadn't quit then. Who knows!

I think they must have broken promises to him about transfer funds, like what the yanks did with Rafa.

I've just never liked O'Neill, he's always got on my nerves in interviews and he's shit as a pundit. He's a bad hypocrite, critcising other managers/teams before doing the same things he criticised them for.

He moaned about players being rested etc. and then took the piss in the UEFA Cup when he put a reserve side out away to CSKA Moscow and got beat. He should have been punished for that imo, Mick McCarthy got punished for doing the same thing against United last season.

We've been linked with a lot of left sided players (Turan, Bellamy, Young etc). I don't see the urgent need for any of them given our current left options. Although Turan sounds appealing.

Who will want the Villa job when there is no or little money to spend.

The fact that Mc Carthy was punished to play a reserves team against Man Utd is pure bullshit. That match was not important for Wolves...as if the big clubs always play with their best team.

Every other manager with a minimum of sense would have done the same thing as Mc Carthy.

It wasn't even an especially weak team, how can anyone argue that he didn't think that was the right team to play that game?! Yeah he made 10 changes to the team he picked for the game before but still, the guys he picked were hardly reserves and under18 players like some teams put out in the cups! Some were full internationals and others were guys who played 20+ games that season, it was bullshit.
