eFootball PES 2021 Discussion Thread (CONSOLES)

Here's a couple of questions after a bit of a 2020 session tonight i hope those with the new game could answer...

  1. Are 90% of the CPU's free-kicks still on target and are they still scoring from even most of them?
  2. Are skills with the right stick actually worth trying this year? On 2020 there's so much latency when trying them you may as well just pass the ball to the opposition because you're dispossessed as soon as the feint animation kicks in.
Good news....the cpu free kicks don't seem to be as lethal and less fouls/freekicks all round.
The right finesse stick does work better as response has improved and you are given that split second advantage to now pull off

I've had a few exhibition matches and seen some fouls (cpu even got two yellow cards). I guess that it depends on how you play the game, the level of cpu, and the mode of the game (exhibition, ML).

Right now my favorite moment in these matches was Gnabry doing finesse dribbling on the edge of my team's penalty box, making me foul him and getting the penalty.

Sorry should say but less fouls/free kicks all round for both sides as ref less whistle happy

Less whistle happy than PES 2020...

Did he leave his whistle at home then?

Even if this somehow turns out to be the Liveware Evolution of 2020, what about Master League? Will Team Spirit "scripting" and otherwise degenerate anti-user shenanigans still be in full effect? I don't see why they wouldn't. There haven't been any general additions or enhancements made to Master League (to my knowledge, anyway). What the hell am I going to do, play exhibition and League Mode for the next year? That's where this all falls apart for me.

Playing FUMA. I think right now PES 2021 is better than PES 2020 Demo (Best representation of football ever).

Pace is a bit slower. Better running animations. Players movements have more inertia, more realistic, seems like they used more frames in every animation (Winning Eleven 2014 Aoki style). Passes are not so fast. Best ball physics ever.

Disc version or new patch ? cause i saw some videos there's 1.01 patch

Sorry if this has been asked but to anyone who is actually playing the game, have they updated or added any new manager faces? Any Solskjaer?

From my experience the R2 finesse on full manual shooting has been broken since pes2016 (it actually worked in pes2015), meaning 1. the ball would always go well wide of your intended (aimed at, using L2 aiming curser) direction, and 2. there wouldn't be nearly as much curl as with R2 finesse on Basic Shooting - regardless of the player (rating) used. At every new patch/datapack, Id go in free training mode and would use Messi, or Salah or anyone else with a particularly high rating (left footed since Its easier to see R2's shooting affect going left to right side of pitch), just to test out if full manual R2 had been fixed... it still hasn't in the latest/last 2020 patch.
I remember posting a youtube clip a while ago to show just how ineffective it was in full manual:

Again, this is the only reason ive gone back to basic shooting. Players, particularly the good ones, should be able to do this every so often (following clip is with basic shooting):
Could you post a clip of this because I have yet to see anyone score a manual R2 shot

Here you guys go

Can anyone who has the game, without day one patch, please, please uplaod the exe and dt18 files, so that we can save the gameplay? I dont want a repeat of last year where they got the gameplay right, then ruined it with updates.

Player models are better (thinner calves?).
Ball weight is improved.
Headers are improved.
Shots feel weightier.
Manual passing feels proper FIFA08(?) free.
More deflections and blocked shots than usual.
CPU (Top Player) committed 5 fouls in one match.
Left stick is more responsive.
Teammate AI is improved. I had situations occur that had never happened with 2020.

Can't believe I've spent half of my life with this game and I'm still going to bed looking forward to playing it again tomorrow. This is a properly understated update that's worth every penny.

.. can I be honest in saying this quote alone has got me very excited... the more frames in animations - a feature seen in WE14AS (unfortunately for 14, made it less responsive), with others saying the game seems more responsive = together this sounds awesome.. really hope its true.

Finesse shot with R2 not fixed again...
..not shocked, but still surprised that Konami still haven't addressed this broken Fuma R2 finesse situation. Really would be the perfect time to address it with this season update. Maybe its not an easy fix?? Anyways, although a disappointment, ill probably still go back to playing pes2021 at Fuma (reverting from basic to full manual shooting).

That's why I play on a closer camera angle. I feel like it gives the illusion of a more compact pitch and when you play on a wider cam angle, you can see everything, and with a pitch thats too big you are bound to find someone open to pass too. Thats a legacy issue hopefully is resolved for 2022. I enjoy the close up action and seeing little animations that you don't see in a wider cam angle and i have nostalgia from using the radar like the ps2 days to see runs and spray long balls. just a preference. But if you can't stand the oversized pitch i strongly recommend a closer cam angle if you are will to use the radar
I honestly believe that the big pitch plays a role in the lack of fouls. I played the shit out of PES 5 on PS2 a couple weeks ago and everything is so compact. As soon as you receive the ball, an AI defender is right on you applying pressure. A lot of the times they foul you too. With modern PES games, there's so much space when you receive a pass. How are you going to get fouled when the AI can't get near you?

The feeling I got after playing a few games is a similar feeling I got after playing PES 5 for the first time, coming from a full year of PES 4. And then playing PES 6 for the first time, coming from a full year of PES 5. Essentially, it's the same game, with a few tweaks to make it a more enjoyable experience. Felt more responsive to me straight off the bat.. I noticed this after the first few passes I made. My first game I was Yokohama and played against Vissel Kobe. I got absolutely ripped by AI Iniesta (superstar) with a "double touch" and then he took the ball in to the box and smashed it in to the top corner. I'm pretty sure I clipped it and will get around to uploading it. I also got beaten on the wing with a drag back from the AI. I was trying to cause those animations where my player would just freeze/stutter to see if reactions have been fixed but didn't manage to. Was quite tired when I played (midnight in AUS) but will send some more feedback once I've played more and upload some clips. Wasn't many fouls. Another thing I noticed was that the AI was making quite a few simple pass errors that went straight to me. Could be because of the weaker team & player rating but will keep an eye on that when I play with some better teams.
