eFootball PES 2020 Discussion Thread (PS4/Xbox One)

Did not have a detailed look. Thought it was an official fan made shirt.
I cannot spot any difference to be honest.

Seems so long ago when we where simply playing games instead of 'testing' and 'trying' them. Last week i spend two consecutive evenings switching from 2017 to 2019 to 2020 to 2020 demo to FIFA20, just to decide which one i want to stick with for the time being! Still undecided.

This is honestly why I stopped buying sports games yearly and it started with football manager; even the patches could change gameplay so dramatically that I'd spend so much time just trying to figure out how I'd be able to enjoy the game instead of just enjoying it.

I started a road to glory in ml and selected the lowest ranked team in the game, rayong fc a 1 star team in thailand and intended to work my way up to better teams and become ranked 1 in the world....i did this and it took me 26 games in my 1st season to get offered the barcelona job ranked 1 in the world!! I expected it to take many, many years but kind of shocked me and defeated the purpose of attempting it in the 1st place. I was sitting 4th halfway through season 1 with rayong and was offered the job at gangzou evergrande who were 2nd in the chinese super league so i took it and remained undefeated for 11 games and with 4 games remaining i was crowned champions and barcelona offered me the job! God knows what the barca manager was up to as they were top, undefeated and had only conceded 4 goals. I took the job and not only did i move over 500 places in the rankings from bootom club to top in 26 games i have the chance of 2 league titles in 1 year as the chinese league finishes in barca's mid season. Anyone topped this? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

The job offer system, is a little bit "infant" and "archaic" to say it politely. Or maybe half-arsed, to say it honestly. :P You are 2nd in Danish League, other clubs being 2nd in their leagues will offer you the job, despite any club ranking or league prowess.

The only point that hurts my feelings is than on pes 2015&2016 it used to work far better and sophisticated, it was still archaic but better than today, then it started to regress. :(

Not since Wenger went from the J League to Arsenal have I seen this kind of career jump. Fantastic lol

Goalkeepers are not recognised by the game for fouls I've had at least 3 blatent penalties denied by going round the keeper and the keepers hands/legs hacking me down

You all can count yourself lucky because, after last night, I have another rant in me and yes I have clips cropped and ready. But I'm supposed to be a responsible adult and go to work so I'll just say this.

I started a new save in ML (go ahead and judge me because I've lost count on how many times I've restarted my save). I'm pretty convinced that ML, at this point, was designed to make you suffer in first couple no matter how good your team is.

I played Roma 3 times last night. Why? Because the match was downright awful and I clearly hate myself. The way my fixed cursor player and my AI teammates behaved was night and day, in a bad way, compared to my previous save. And I can't understand why.

Some of the worst AI behavior I've seen in some time.

Ok enough of that. I hope you all have a wonderful day lol

All these clips help when it comes to A) ever providing feedback (which is ultimately pointless but then we can't say we didn't try), and B) helping people realise they're not alone in seeing these problems...

Speaking about feedback, i remember a time before Christmas, when the PES developers page on facebook, regarding feedback, was hyper-active, now seems pretty dead. Before a "monster-patch" update, they were talking about imporving the algorithm of AI decision making and positioning, in order to challenge better the ball, press in space, and form a solid defensive line with the DFs and the MFs. I do not remember how many updates it was before, but it seems to me that the game has now reverted to the early state, regarding awareness of the ball, not so much in the Attacking part, like in the Defending part.

Below is a video , of a very strange goal the AI let me score, while i was moving with super-cancel, maybe it was difficult for the CPU to read my input. You can check clearly how opponent No2 lets the ball pass in front of him (team in Black are the CPU team) and then player No24, while he checks the trajectory of the ball, suddenly decides to leave the ball for me and collapse back to his penalty box. It does not happen so often, in such a big degree, but i see more bad decisions, as time passes on the latest Data Packs.

All in all, the general promise for a better decision making algorithm and a more solid Midfield part, seems totally forgotten today. The same applies for the Facebook feedback page, i asume.

This shows that the game logarithms favors a team scoring or getting an easy chance regardless of what happens on the pitch.

Exactly what happens when your midfield and defence just open up and part ways for a striker to come in between and shoot from the edge of the area (Identical AI shot every game).

So disgusting at this day and age.

I see that happening from time to time and not always in goal scoring opportunities. I think it's a bug caused by the game thinking that one player is supposed to get/control the ball and takes FAR too long to realize that the player wont get to it and another should take it in stead.

In @slamsoze 's example, the game thinks that the defending midfielder (black shirt nr. 7) will control it - it goes right past him - but when he fails to, the game doesn't recognize that it needs to switch players and so the defender (nr. 24) doesn't go for it because he thinks that his teammate will get to it. Note also how the defender only responds the moment when the attacker (red/blue nr. 7) touches the ball.

As I said, I think it's a major bug and I've seen it happen all over the pitch but never in such blatant goal scoring situations.

Spot on analysis! I do not want to warm up any consipiracy theories now, but just to put the detail, as my input is not visible, there is a moment a little before my No7 (Joquin Regen) touches the ball, that i let super cancel and push just the L-stick and i leave the "game-rails" to guide me like an auto pilot. You can see in video, that my player running with supercancel, has a false direction some moments before he gets the ball. From the time i return to "rails" the CPU defender seems to try to respond by containing from distance.

P.S.1: This match, IIRC it was a cup match vs Atletico Madrid, we were 1-0 in Madrid and 3-0 for me in Extremadura. The whole tactical approach of At. Madrid was vewry strange, until 2-0 they were on -1 def. mentality, while they could score 1 goal and qualify on aggregate. After 3-0 they just went to the neutral ,grey mentality in the middle. Realy strange tactical behaviour, considering that even the last team of the league table, almsot 9/10 times starts with +1 re attacking mentality.

P.S.2: This goal was so unimpressive, that i would not score it, if i was not suspicious that the AI will try to cheat me after..

Yeah the tactic mentality is very strange sometimes, especially in cup matches. I had one the other day where I was drawing a one off cup match against a lesser side. Yet the opponent had the all out attack mentality for most of the second half like they desperately needed to score, in turn leaving huge gaps at the back. Somehow I failed to take advantage and eventually lost on penalties...

I think this Game (League Mode Master League) is complete rubbish.

When I tried to play league mode a few weeks back,I had a couple of key players injured,so I decided to go "Coach mode" (CPU v CPU) since you can't sim/skip games in league mode.

Anyway my Lecce, lowest ranked in the league by a mile won 7 games straight,Vs Juventus/Inter/Roma/Lazio among the teams we won against. All those were away too
Says a lot on how poorly programmed this game is,and how strong TS and scripting are when you play it instead of letting CPU go Vs CPU.
So bad

It can be downright awful.

Literally every match I've played vs Liverpool ends with Klopp going all out attack with VVD up front allowing me to counter them to death.
Don't think I've ever lost to Pool because of this.

More like Oliver Kahn :D
v3jzv.jpg

I don't think I was more scared of a man than I was of Kahn when I was growing up

I might be able to top that, although this was me hacking down the AI:

I love the smug grin on my player's face when confronted by the ref:APPLAUD:

I've a clip of the AI doing it to me. I'll have to find it when I get home haha

Also Bonano, I've said this before but there's a clear disconnect with the AI selected to engage the ball and everyone else; it's obvious when a player has the invisible arrow above their head and when they don't because they'll ignore everything going on in front of them and focus solely on positioning like they're on a rail.

It's one of my biggest issues with the AI; there's no anticipation of threats, no evaluating situational danger whatsoever. They only react when the game tells them to and even then it's only one player with the rest sticking to their spot on the pitch like this is a choreographed performance.

Your wish is my command. I'll get to it sometime in the evening lol

I had a season with PSV in Superstar. Started very well but then comes that time where all teams have the objective to screw you no matter what. I was 10 points ahead in first place, so I started simming matches. My team won them all till the end of the season, derbies and cup games as well. Very unrealistic and only shows how lazy this game is.

Yeah its really bad.
Also, why can't we sim games properly on Pes (and FIFA)
Slow simming with the option to jump in

Master League will feel bad if you start with a strong team as the way the difficulty seems to work it will seem unrealistic. I think its most realisitc starting with a lower team , default ML squads and building from scratch. Im struggling in mine now - not sure if my players a knackered but cant buy a win at the moment
