eFootball PES 2020 Discussion Thread (PS4/Xbox One)

too early for this. got to wait for DP7 to annihilate PES 2020 to oblivion first.

on another note - @slamsoze (or any other experts) - if I have a 2nd psn account on a PS4 with which I have purchased pes 2020, does the option file from my primary account carry over into this account or not?

i'm guessing not, which means that you could potentially play 2020 on one ps4 with 2 OFs going at the same time, right?

and could i even run multiple OFs simply by having additional free PSN accounts without having to purchase pes 2020 on those accounts?

thanks

You can play PES in your second account, you don't purchase it again BUT...
The sad story: you cannot run multiple OF. The reason: the memory slotsbase for images , is one only and unique and common for all accounts! !!!!! Which means, while your OF doesn't carry, the images from your 1st PSN are being carried inevitably.

In other words , the pes-reality is a little bit more sadistic than you can imqgine!!! let's say you have a full OF in your 1st and the remaining images slots are 30. (Random number).
You sign in with your 2nd psn where the game is in vanilla state. If you go to the images you will see that the images from your 1st psn are there. And you can only add only 30 new images.

*And the even more sadistic ( for this i am not sure 100%, i do not remember exactly ), if you mess with parental controls and shared-images, you can still add only 30 images, while you can't even see-use the images from you 1st psn.*

While this happens and before Liga Aquila (Colombia) became unlicensed, and if you had a complete-one OF, you could technically have 2 "separate" OF, by just importing the standard staff again like in you first PSN from your 1st OF, by ticking the box to replace images with the same name (i have never used it for side effects btw, just saying that makes sense ) , IE: English 1st & 2nd, Spanish 1st & 2nd, NT teams etc...and then i think you could run the 2 of the 3 fake leagues peu/pla/pas, cause other Latin America are still fake and need slots. At general you can make decisions.
Or you can start using images manually from you first account, which is very long procces.
Or you can use an OF with only 2 kits + 1 gk kit per fake team. In this case i think you can have TWO completely different OFs, or two different and a third with common core and one or two alternate fake leagues.

After liga aquila became unlicensed, i haven't tried to tell you if you can run a second OF with same core-different PEU+, cause i had a type of this project, but i abandoned it, cause i filled all the image slots and couldn't licence the Colombia league (Aquila).

TL;DR : No! You can't run multiple OFs, cause the images memory in PES, is common and one for the ps4 console . Which means the OF doesn't carry to 2nd PSN, but the images in memory do.
With some workarounds and in special cases you may can run 2 or 3 separate but half-arsed and pretty basic OFs. Basic = no third kits, every fake or unlicensed club/NT has 2 kits + 1 gk kit mandatory.!

That, there, is an expert answer from a PES expert.

PES is discounted on PSN at the mo so I was eyeing up a second copy for the purpose of using different OFs,

Thank you!

I told you guys I hate hope. Because hope leads to expectations. And you can only be let down when you have expectations.

Last night was another international break (2 matches) and then a cup match.

It was a frustrating night that just reaffirmed a feeling I've had about the AI in this game; the AI doesn't know what to do and cannot cope defensively when up against an attacking or ultra attacking mentality.

I played Ireland and Austria. Both matches went exactly the same. They both started on attacking mentality and, because the AI doesn't know how to deal with attacking mentality, the matches turned into a frenzied mess; the AI, both my opponent and my teammates, trying to play as fast as possible, midfield nonexistent and defensive shape nonexistent, constantly making bad decisions.

Both matches were so frustrating, i actually restarted them. You know what was strange? When i restarted both matches, both Ireland and Austria stayed on neutral mentality and i was actually able to play something that resembled football.

After that was the cup match away against mighty Sheffield Wednesday. Something I've noticed is every cup match I've played in ML, my opponent starts on attacking mentality. So this match ends being the same frenzied mess like my international matches were the first time i played them.

I ended up conceding because my CB made an off balance one touch pass with his weaker foot while in the box. It went straight to a striker and Wednesday scored. They were dominating the match because my AI teammates were incapable of making good decisions on offense and defense.

I had enough so i turned it off. 3 matches against attacking mentality. 3 matches with the same exact issues.

The AI doesn't do well against attacking/aggressiveness. Be it 2 or more striker formations or attacking mentalities. Furthermore, the AI doesn't play well when it is using an attacking mentality or when it's against one.

When it's using an attacking mentality, it tries to play as fast as possible and treats every attack like an nba fastbreak. When it's against an attacking mentality, it loses all defensive line integrity.

My fixed cursor experience is completely at the mercy of this fundamentally flawed and poor AI. A patch isn't fixing this.

Hahaha..a PES expert who can't figure out why Ansu Fati was removed from his database!!!!!! :P :D

Ah! I think just remembered a workaround @PesBuck is using IIRC. You MAYBE can run different OFs on same console, if the PSNs or the GAME, or both?? are from different regions. IE have an UK pes and a USA or Japanese PES???

PS.: Bucky sorry for the random tags!!! I just read you on pesgaming ! :)

Because cup matches in ML are so frustrating to play, i might honestly give league mode a go. I'll definitely miss progression and transfers though, if i do start one.

PES on PC is just mean! Like you can't compare the gaming experience to consoles. Shame that PC is generally more expensive investment compared to console.

Some og the things I hate with Online Divisions, PA1 (similar settings)
A novel by a grumpy Swede.

Chapter 1
Not being able to lock the PA down to which ever PA you prefer when looking for opponents. Just pure laziness I guess, would make such an easy impact and it's of course something that already should be there since they keep on wanting different PA to be a thing.

Chapter 2
You try to play varied football, you even try to have some fun, but no. Your opponent can and will punish you with a couple of easy passes through the midfield straight up to their attackers who Always (ALWAYS) just hold off your defender (even if they have Valbuena and your defender is van Dijk), turn around and blast it in the net.

Chapter 3
Player-ID? What? Where? Hello?

Chapter 4
Pressure fest! Ibiza!

I have to go for a meeting now but I will be back for more grumpiness.

I hope the meeting went well! What did the participants say to all the PES mess?!
;)

Speaking of 11 vs 11, where the hell is it? I think I already played some last fall but I can't actually find where the mode is in the game now!

My fixed cursor experience is completely at the mercy of this fundamentally flawed and poor AI. A patch isn't fixing this.

I've been back playing fixed cursor PES2018 for the past few weeks and tried 2020 again after DP6, just to see if it was there was any improvement. There's not and it really is stark just how poor the AI when doing an immediate comparison with 2018. Your teammates really play properly in both defence and attack in 2018, showing real attacking intend, urgency to get the ball, urgency to defend. The matches are exciting and full of action.

In 2020, they're just so passive. In attack, my teammates will pass it up to the opposition final 3rd, then just stop playing - the ball carrier will piss around for a bit near the opposition box and then just walk into a defender or have the ball easily taken off him without attempting anything. Likewise in defence, the cpu team will do it's usual direct long ground pass to it's attacker in the middle of the pitch, unmarked as always, then a couple of passes up to the edge of my box and my defenders just stand off doing nothing. The cpu will then be camped around my box for while, but not shooting or doing anything productive and usually gets nowhere beyond this, it eventually just plays a bad pass and my team get possession....except when the scripted gameplay decides it's time for the cpu to score (typically last 5 minutes before 45/90 mins) and my CBs will conveniently wander off, leaving a huge whole right in front of goal for the cpu to walk into and score. Of course, my GK is, as usual, as much use as a blade of grass and saves literally nothing. It's basically a match of 1 v 11 as my teammates have no real interest in playing at all.

In 2018, if you use the gen-gen press and you see your teammates pressing all over the pitch. In 2020, they just stand off, politely observing social distancing rules. This game mode is unplayable in 2020. Thank god for 2018.

In attack, my teammates will pass it up to the opposition final 3rd, then just stop playing

The only move the AI ever bothers with is in the final third one twos. Nothing else. Otherwise all the AI won't do anything more than dribble in place for a few seconds before passing it to a teammate.

Likewise in defence, the cpu team will do it's usual direct long ground pass to it's attacker in the middle of the pitch, unmarked as always, then a couple of passes up to the edge of my box and my defenders just stand off doing nothing.

Yup. I don't know what happens in the middle third of the pitch but CMs are never in position to stop any pass to the backline.

The AI prioritizes staying in its position in the pitch that it's programmed to do above all else. It doesn't anticipate threats; it's too reactive and not proactive enough.

CBs will conveniently wander off, leaving a huge whole right in front of goal for the cpu to walk into and score.

I recently scored a goal because the CB was marking me out on the wing for absolutely no reason and the no one on the opposition team bothered to cover the space he left.

Heck i posted said goal on here.

I think 2020 is a good a game tbf. But the AI is just so poor. Unfortunately the AI is the most important thing to my experience. Without a good AI, i really can't play.

if I had to guess I’d say Pisa we’re playing all out defence, middle, conservative.. 🤔 I’d probably play possession or long ball. Or at least have a number ten to get between the lines, are they set up 3-5-2? at times it looks like 5 at the back.. maybe they play ‘ ‘wing back’.. either way that’s a tough setup.
These games are a slog.
Very realistic.
Teams like this often need a taste of their own medicine. Do you have a big target man?? Or failing that just persevere with ball retention and recycling. A team of their quality will definitely make mistakes all over the pitch. Good luck 😬👍

I get the concept, and no matter how conservative, it shouldn't be to the point it is this passive. All out defense is what a lot of those Serie B teams use, and some even use deep defensive line as the go to, but even then, it should be enough to have some form of resistance to the ball carrier and intended recepient. Even 2-4 steps more advanced there would make a decent difference.

You're right, the matches like those are a slog - but incredibly boring and easy.

I managed a way around it though, and think it should work ging forward.

What's your way around it man? This midfield issue needs fixing 100% and you got it spot on with the lack of resistance and how they're too many steps off.

One way that's worked for me.

Klash tactics as a base.
Then used isureaper31 adjustments on page 316 of this thread. However, I move the defence and midfield as high up the pitch as I can both with and without ball.
Turn on auto offside.
It had transformed the areas of the pitch this game is now played in. Much more compressed in midfield, teams still drop at times and klash tactics base prevents every match feeling the same.

I also think dp6 had added a whole raft of subtle changed to the variety of movements and runs of the players.
Together with above changes, it's much improved.
Some of the AI moves are very impressive now.
