eFootball PES 2020 Discussion Thread (PS4/Xbox One)

Yes, that's correct.

Also, I've just posted the video explanation here:

I think i need to do videos again.

I've been testing tactics. I know the issue. the problem is the Midfield drops back way, way too deep and passively. 4-2-3-1 is too defensive, way too defensive whatever tactics you set on. Its like you have a choice of making the wide midfielders into wingers or your going to drop back too much!

Konami have a real gigantic issue with the setup of tactics, they gone too far in neglecting them for too long, the issue before wasn't that there was a big space between defence and midfield, it was the fucking obsession with Deep defensive line with every team!

I found a wonderful balance though in the latest set of tactics although, it's not all bad news, this game is awesome.

Default tactics ruin this game though, its almost essential i feel to change them now. Konami need to simple fine tune the core gameplay and make an effort with tactics beause it snow the big issue and the gameplay is really in a good place.

I would like a few more fouls, there still not quite, just enough however i had 2 penalties in one game so :|

I just had the time to play a couple of games and while I do like the results of more compressed lines and maybe as a result a better involvement of attackers in defensive duties, I really find the CPU too frantic in the way it passes the ball.

They hardly look like they are thinking when they pass the ball. It is like they already know two steps ahead what will be the next moves. They do more mistake than before with their through passes and shots (there is new ball trajectories with more curl or it is just me?) but this constant first time pass, control pass, first time pass, ect.. feels so different to what I am doing. I usually try to eat the space with the ball at the foot when not attacked, of course I am passing it if I see good opportunities. The cpu hardly eat that space if not in the attacking third. I know football is a passing game but all they seem to do is pass, pass, pass (again I only played two full games). It is like we are playing a different sport. For a shared possession the cpu has more than 50% pass more than me.

Am I playing it wrong (I am asking seriously)? Should I adopt the cpu way of playing? Is it because I am playing on Super Star difficulty? Are they less maniac with their passing on lower difficulties?

I don't really like the new update there is more randomness but they killed physicality. The ai is back to demo levels it's soo easy to play against. I haven't lost 1 of 15 games.

I've noticed this. It feels tame, sedated. In some ways the whole game does now. I enjoy it but it feels enervated...there's not much snap to the game. It may be I havent got the hang of it yet but I also wonder whether this is how konami have attempted to return the feel to that of the demo. It reminds me of one of the pes 14 patches that did something very similar

I think its time to quickly disconnect internet before next update fucks everything up making AI crazy direct and WWF again, seeing some of the comments here...

I don't get it, i used the time extender, can't you not see how mad passive the AI is the demo compared to now? It really shows when you use time extender.

Nope. A quick edit to dt18 makes the AI press more in defence and if you wish it be more active in attack. But i think in attack they are quiet direct in the demo.

Physicality is not killed you just aren't wrestling the AI for every ball like the last patch, the fouls are the same 4 or 5 per game and i've had one more penalty than i did last patch. I've dropped down to PA 1 and Advance Shooting and for me that seems the sweet spot - Easier teams are easier and good teams are still difficult to play. There's still loads of randomness infact i would say ive seen far more deflected shots than i did on last patch where the ball dfelcts of one then another. I think they've done really well since release on patches trying to find common ground for all players. There is always going to be some that can;t be pleased but eh oh name me a video game that everyone loves

Is it me or is mater league difficult much so than exhibition games.

Even exhibition games seem slightly more difficult than before the patch?

The more they "update" the further away they get away from the concept of competitive "efootball".

The more they update the more fatigue I get and the less I can be bothered to keep up.

Yes PES 2020 is the best PES I've played since 2013 but its also the least played PES version because I've "discarded" 90% of the game modes.

So screw having to keep machines offline for the sake of keeping a gameplay version and give us switchable game versions at the top menu if you're going to keep changing the game every few months.

So far so good. Added PES Universe MLS too. But trying to figure out how to use even more OFs to overwrite the remaining fictional teams. I'm finding it really difficult to get info on the very basics of mixing option files.
You most likely wont be playing with most of them. Im not sure how 'OCD' you are, when it comes to realistic stats, but you could just change the names, kits and badges manually and add whatever teams you like. Thats what I did. I wasnt overly happy with the 7 teams chosen by pesuniverse to replace fake ones, so I edited 4 myself, downloading kits, emblems and editing names. Stats dont really bother me, as they are crap teams anyways, so it worked out fine.

How do you find adv shoot? In the past it always seemed so clunky to me, with all the crossbars and the general lack of true error. Is it better this year? I might give it a try if so.

Don't judge me.. After playing for 21 years... Finally learning manual passing. Not to bad at it to be honest. But crossing, is another thing!

Any tips for crossing please? I always put too much power on it I think..

Better late than never!
If you are playing on stadium cam - remember to take the cam angle into account. Sending a cross might not be as simple as arrow up or down. Look at the pitch and players and aim at them. Bit of practice and you'll be flying!

Mate no offence but you keep making the same comments when you are playing cup matches and exhibition games. Play 10 master league matches and then tell me you get 6 fouls a match?

For the people like myself playing Master League, there are hardly ANY fouls. I keep getting wrestled to the floor and get nothing. Yet if I fart on the CPU player, it gives a foul.

Some people saying this is “the best football game ever” since the update it pure hyperbole. The best football game ever should have fouls included for a start.

I buy PES for master league, like many others do. I can’t play pointless World Cup matches all year long I’d get bored. I need to replicate a club season. And a club season without fouls and penalty kicks gets old really fast.

I found tapping is the only way from a normal crossing position and hold L1 to create the whip but my most success with manual is triple tapping circle. If there was one thing I would change about manual it would be to have more control over cross power and really short passes

Quick question: I play on PC and because it's not possible to go back to V1.0 on PC I would like to know if I would get the game on PS4 and play with V1.0 if I would still be able to use option files? I just play offline anyways btw.

Manual crossing is my favourite thing in the game :).

I would suggest using a camera like Dynamic Wide which maintains the same angle wherever you are on the pitch. It may look nice to play on Stadium or Broadcast cameras, but they are a nightmare to perform manual crosses on.

If you think you are putting too much power on it, try holding R2 when you cross. This is for a higher lofted cross, but if you only use around half power then it won't lift the ball up too high but will still take a lot of the pace off, useful for an early ball in behind the defence. This is one I did online;

Chipped through ball can also be used quite effectively as a slower cross as well, especially when you just want to stand one up from the byline for a header rather than flashing it across with pace.

And finally, get to know who on your team has the "Pinpoint Crossing" skill. It dramatically changes the way that player crosses the ball... Far more pace and curl on the ball; it can be deadly when you use it well, but also really annoying if you forget and don't compensate for it in your aim. Holding R2 with these players is preferable in many situations to take some of that pace off.

Sorry for quoting myself.
I dropped down to Top Player plus I set off side trap workaround of @Matt10 and the CPU passes number are perfectly in par with mine. Much more enjoyable experience overall.

Exactly how I've been feeling after the latest patch. Yes, they've tighted up the players ignoring loose balls but:
  • the randomness is pretty much gone
  • every match starting to feel very similar
  • AI monotony
  • on-rails gameplay
  • variety and realism pretty much gone
  • scoring the same goals over and over because too many things around the box just aren't worth trying any more as they don't work
  • CPU players play way beyond what their stats say they should, ping-pong pixel-perfect boredom
  • every CPU direct free-kick is a perfect shot into the top corner, no matter what their stats are (yes, the wall can block them sometimes but that is not the point - no variety, no imperfection, boring, repetitive, scripted)
,.....increasingly feels like they're turning it back into PES19.

At least I've got the option to go back to 1.0.
 Devastating!
Can someone confirm or deny these allegations? Someone who plays with PA1?

OK so if i buy the fucking PS4 disc version what are the possibilities?

- does my PS4 have to be offline for ALL the time from now on? making me not to play any other games? or can i just set PES not to be updated?
- can i still manually import kits in to the game?
Go to System and under automatic downloads, uncheck application update files. If you want to go further, go to power save settings and under features in rest mode, uncheck stay connected to the internet (if you like keeping your PS4 in rest mode).

AI drops too deep and they invite you to attack. i know, that's why all i care about is tactics!
Do you have a tactical solution for the problem in ML and League/Cup mode where the teams that should be wiping the floor with you are all docile? And no more challenging than equal or lesser teams?
