eFootball PES 2020 Demo Discussion Thread (PS4/Xbox)

One of the major problems is that developers (both EA and Konami) rely too much now on the feedback from the people they choose to play early builds and it's always the wrong kind of people if you want a game that leans more in the simulation direction.

The fact they're seemingly making skill moves easier is a very bad sign that they're heading in the FIFA direction where if you play online there's skill moves in every attack (often multiple ones chained together) because they're so easy to pull off. To me these skill moves should be difficult as they should be bits of magic that you see once or twice a game maximum.

I think ultimately people like myself who want a more simulation based game just have to accept that we're the minority these days and we'll never get a truly great football game again, it's just a case of making the best of what we're given. The majority don't care about tactics, taking a lower division team from nothing to glory or having a good game. They're only bothered about making sure Ronaldo has the right hair style, winning at all costs and basketball style football with 5 goals a piece and endless flicks and tricks.

As a side point they need to do something about that gap in the Old Trafford crowd as it looks horrendous. I know it would take away from the authenticity but they need to fill it with people or something as your eyes are drawn to the gap everytime you go up that end of the pitch.

Isn’t there an offline mode for steam?! Connect to their servers once, set up offline mode, play offline.
I’m not sure but I think I read something about it. I’m not a computer guy, you know.
Yeah, even though there's offline mode on Steam, the game [PES 15-19] at launch tries to connect to their Konami servers and if you can't connect or loose internet connection, the game just freezes. It's very annoying.

You guys aren't in minority. There are plenty of SP players and even non- FUT/MyClub players [and some FUT/MyClub players] that have same complaints.

The problem is lootbox. It killed both FiFA and PES.

And guess which mode makes most money? FUT and MyClub. So even if there was more SP players than these two online modes, they wouldn't care cause in the end FUT makes them more money than just selling the base game.

But there is some hope now that people are going against lootboxes and other money milking schemes. If they get enough pressure and lootbox gets banned for "E" rated games, they will be forced to improve other things and stop catering around FUT/MyClub only.

Same here.

It's so sad to see what PES has become. I can't help but watch out of morbid curiosity, but part of me just wishes for it to be put out of its misery.

@Sami 1999 see, 2017 (like 2019) ain’t need no connection. ;)
By talking to you about that I found out about another console plus! But hey, master race discussion my ass!! ;)
Every platform got his pros and cons!!!

Good to see you.

Konami provides EDIT MODE in demo to show us something new in this MODE ? I’m right?
I'm not convinced about there being anything major although Adam has confirmed that custom sponsors can be edited and anything to do with stadiums can't.
I think it's more to allow people to get a head start on editing. There's a reason we can carry it over into the game.

Hate to be the cynic, but I do get the strong impression that one reason they've included it is because they want to monetise DLC through the edit mode later on in the full game. I think that's predominantly what this "Project 11" stuff is about – you'll have the option to buy specialised kits (maybe also logos, balls, etc.) through the game itself, and they might want the customer base to be comfortable with how the edit mode works, if that's ultimately where buyers will apply their DLC purchases.

It's a smart move if so. I don't think it's especially cynical to infer that this is what Project 11 is about; maybe it's a touch too cynical from me to think that the inclusion of the edit mode is to facilitate the process later.

Either way, it'll help the kit-makers and that in and of itself is a good thing, at least.

I saw some evidence that PES20 will not have AS Roma. Do you all know anything about this? Also what do you think?

Another Brazilian club that contests the series B, confirms its participation in eFootball PES 2020. Now we have 10 teams of the second division of Brazil in the game, they are: São Bento, Oeste, Guarani, Ponte Preta, Botafogo de Ribeirão Preto, Sport Recife, Brasil de Pelotas, Bragantino, Paraná and América de Minas Gerais

Look at this video guys, I liked it. He shows the dribbling and testing out stuffs showing the details..
Good video. Many beautiful situations and new mini animations.I like what i see.
Of course it could be better, but that always will be the case.I tend to see the glass half full after all these years.
That's the thing. They always add many new cool realistic mini details and mini animations every year, but you need time and focus to observe it and to watch replays in slow motion to discover them. Some people don't notice them and say it's the same as the previous. It's not.If someone still says that 15 or 16 is the same with what we see here and the game hasn't progressed..i don't know..better have your eyes checked. No offence, but c'mon people..

Personally, little details like these and things like feel on the ball, animations, ball physics and graphics are important for me to enjoy the game and i'm already pretty sure that this will be the best Pes to date at least for me.
AI is not everything, there are other important things also.Especially if you're also an online player like me.
But even AI will be better this year. It's already noticable.Well,to be honest it's not that difficult to be better than 19's AI lol.

Many may still not like it for their own reasons..or are just so stuck in the past and nostalgia and just prefer the vintage feel..It's all good. We'll always have the older ones also and people who enjoy them more can still play them and enjoy themselves. And people who enjoy the modern ones can stay and play the modern ones.
For me,even if a vintage Pes has better AI,I wouldn't and i can't sacrifice tons of other important things just to have a better AI.Cause let's face it,in everything else, modern Pes and especially what we see in 20,is miles better and MUCH more technically advanced.

I also noticed that the running now looks less on rails. In some situations the player altered his course by some degrees, without looking so rigid but more smooth and more realistic with seamless transition to the animation.
I'm also very glad that they improved the fat ass player models of 19 in which every player looked like he had Kim Kardashian's hips and ass.Much better and more athletic looking now.
The shirts still look a bit weird and baggy and i would prefer them to be a bit more fit to the body.
But they're better than E3's version where there was much clipping between the shirt and the shorts.
They improved them for this built and i hope they'll polish them even more for the demo or release.
Roll on to 30th July!

Wow just Wow. It would be HUGE and great move from Konami.Pay money in EDIT MODE for new balls from DLC. I prefer Nike and Adidas balls. I love EDIT MODE in Pes. I want demo now!

Agree.
I know you don't agree with my views on them but this is where I feel we might see a link coming in with PES Universe.

Sounds promising if true. Maybe all of Serie B will be there? What's discouraging is that the ratings will probably be ridiculous, like usually for South America...

I love the brazilian teams but I hate that it's so difficult to get all the players licensed and then the squads get outdated real quick.

This last video is really impressive. I don't believe that game is PES 2019's evolution. The huge amount of new stuff working perfectly well shows clearly PES 2020 has been developed for a few years in parallel to the last PES editions.

The oldschool PES hater role has anything or very few stuff to disapprove. If the new eFootbal PES rebrand brings to us this realistic gameplay aproach, it's welcomed for me mates.
I remember you it isn't the first time the game changes the name:

ISS(SNES) -> ISS PRO EVOLUTION(PS1) -> PES(PS2)
