This place has its use, even if that is for us to come together and not be happy with the product.

I know that wasn't the point of your post but that line just cracked me up.

Maradona places a long ball for Batistuta with his right foot.
Oh NO!! May he burn in Hell for an eternity!! :TWIST:

Maradona can't do what he wants though.A user is controlling him.Or it may happen even from the cpu sometimes rarely.
If he's on the right wing and he's facing to the inside,or in the left wing and he's facing to the outside, then his two options for a long ball or a cross is to hit it with the left outside of the foot or with the right foot.

I don't think that it would look too much better if he was always using the outside of the foot just so he can hit it with the left.In fact i think that there are still too many unnecessary outside of the foot passes in the game, even low 3 meter passes.
Anyway,i think that he has a Weak Foot Usage set to 1,so it's not something that occurs frequently, and when it does it's not the end of the world i think.I'm sure that he has used this foot for some passes in real life also and it doesn't just exist so he can walk.Same goes for Beckham.

But why from 3-4 hours content of video you decide to say THAT specifically?
So you didn't see ANYTHING else good or positive but only Maradona's right foot pass and it fucked up your day so much?I wonder why..

really this forum is so full of toxic bullshit. get your shit together. PES 2019 is a great footy-game. I don't know how you play but I play 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 with friends and it's for most of time amazing how "real" (considerd its a match stripped down to 15 minutes) it simulates the story of a real footy-game.

and even myclub is quite fun. I create teams like "serie a allstars", "youngster u 23" and have a lot of fun. you meet decent players when you dont play with a five star teams full of messi and ronaldos. and the game gives you the possibilty.

one point i give you: the ai is a cheating bastard and master-league is no fun this way.

and to all the people that praise PES6/PES 2013. today these games are totally outdated and no fun anymore. I can't understand how people still have fun with them.

back to 2019: pes always looks worst when you don't play it yourself. because as a player you're so focused on the game that little flaws like the "skating" and stocking aninmations are no that present. cant wait to get my hands on it.

Sorry I usally just read here and sometimes I too shake my haed over the weird decisions KONAMI makes. but this constant shitting on every ascpect of the game here is not normal.
Did you take the time to read our legit complaints? You enjoy a football game with no fouls? Is it normal to do Mexican waves with the whole neighborhood whenever we rarely get a penalty? You enjoy passing the ball around the pitch blindly and effortlessly? You enjoy bad AI? You enjoy the grand canyon between your midfielders and defenders? You enjoy playing without offsides? You enjoy seeing the same CPU goals over and over? You enjoy stats having hardly to no effect on gameplay?

Sorry, but if you enjoy all that, then it's clear what form of PES you want and like. That, isn't the football that I know, which was at least much better represented on the PS2, even if Its dated. That's something from 14-15 years ago. Isn't that telling?

But hey, this new direction suits you, and you're the crowd they're after. Of course you'll love it.

Just to be clear here. What I said in my previous post isn't an insult, because I know some people will take it that way. I'm just pointing out the obvious; PES new direction (happening for years now) and the different crowd they're after. I'm just bitter that they've abandoned their older, and imo, better direction, that represented football better. I'm not into esports and will never be.

Online to me brought with it many detriments to good offline gaming. Many devs went the more lucrative online route, which hardly requires as much effort as providing a good offline experience. All characters online feel like dummies. Just with different skins. Good stories took a back seat, along with it the AI. Games don't feel like they have personality anymore. Just mindless fun. Some people like that. Nothing against them. But there are different games for that that I stay away from because they're not my cup of tea. The problem with PES here, is that it was gradually transformed from one to another. I wouldn't have any issues if they created a separate game for that esports/myclub stuff. But to take a game that has its deep roots elsewhere and force it into another kind of game/genre, or course I and many like me won't be happy.

Imagine turning a well-known sim game that its die-hard fans anticipate into an arcade game. They won't be happy. Because that's not why they flocked to the game to begin with. Now create a spin-off that is arcade, they wouldn't care, as long as they still have theirs still available.

I agree Konami should make 2 games PES Classic and esport PES then lets see what sells better after a couple years.

Didn't fuck up my day. I was pointing out what I observed in that moment; those small little details matter.

There are positive things for sure, but weak foot accuracy and frequency seemingly continue to be placebo stats. It's not that they have never used their weak foot for some passes in real life, but about how contextual the use of the weaker foot is represented in the game. Those two long ball situations should have been using their strong foot.

I've got a lot of catching up to do. Been away for the past couple of weeks.
I've been following updates through Twitter and I saw so much excitement from everybody that I really thought I would be impressed when I had the chance to watch everything for myself when I got back.
But from what I saw, I'm actually disappointed with PES 2020.
It genuinely looks like a 2019 update. New animations. Some of them great. But some of them weird too. No new mechanics.
I know this has been the case almost ever year and I wasn't expecting anything revolutionary, but certainly I was hoping for more than this in terms of gameplay.

The loop in the animation when a player is running with the ball is still so disgustingly noticeable. There's not contextual dribbling.

I don't know guys.

The new camera looks very good though.

I'd pay double the price to have EA or Konami relying on, for example, Matt's feedback (or the one of many other valid guys here or on OS).
Interestingly, EA pay very close attention to the feedback on OS for UFC games. They also do really detailed patch notes and videos explaining changes, as well as posts from the main gameplay developer who discusses the pros/cons of suggested changes by the hardcore guys in the forum. I think they also have some sort of program where very high ranked players contribute to gameplay changes. (In PES, that last bit would be awful.. can you imagine! You'd have the PES League PA3-addicts recommending less passing error lol.)

What did people think of the AI in the English stream (haven't watched the others)?

I had mixed feelings. We don't know what difficulty – probably Regular. It did look slightly tighter between the lines, while still leaving more space than is ideal. I often saw forwards dropping back in unison when they lost the ball (instead of pressing or staying active/hungry), which is an old issue. Saw a weird skating thing once that was very pronounced, but probably a bug that will be patched in that instance. Also saw a CB bomb out of defence for no reason, go past the ball carrier by some distance, look around like he was confused, then jog back.

I think one reason we've barely seen footage outside of the presentations is this is very much an alpha build. I'm relatively hopeful this will be a better game than 2019, offline too.

I mostly play 1v1 in a bespoke online league separate to all the myClub / Divisions stuff. I can tell already some of the changes might make for some cracking games if they are implemented as advertised.

Trying to be short:
1. There are new stuff in pes 2020 that can be game changing.
a. ball physics
b. realistic ball control
c. enhanced physicality, body battles, collisions, etc
d. error in kicks

2. Things that have not improved, sadly:
a. footplanting in turning/stopping
b. CPU does not dribble the ball, passing constantly
c. cursor change seems inconsistent

The few times I've been in here over the last year there is far too much of people getting annoyed and then actively 'witch hunting' people who don't share their opinion.

Granted I've only been on here (actively) since last year, but I've seen very little of the sort. There has been valid criticism of individuals (by myself also). A lot of the criticism levelled at individuals was far deeper than 'not sharing the same opinion'. If anything got beyond what was acceptable then the mods very quickly addressed it and it stopped.

This place used to create and inspire new things for PES, but i feel in terms of debate its not really gong anywhere whatsoever.

This game and the other forums had about as much influence on a Japanese-made game as they do now, it just so happened that Konami made good decisions then and more often than not make bad ones now.

What do you suggest we do? Close the forum down? Start giving praise to Konami when that isn't how we feel?

As I said, if all this place is is a place for us to be dissatisfied with the current product then it serves a purpose.

at about 1.23.30 in the latest stream, Rakitic seems to get the ball fired straight into his cojones. Looks pretty good, but he recovers a bit too fast.

i usually love those little touches, but i've seen that animation now 4 times at least in the E3 videos, hope they can tune it down a little, this could get really frustrating

It has been much much worse 4-5 years ago. There was a time (at least that‘s how I perceived it) when any criticism of the game - however small it was - was ridiculed by the same 3-4 users who were die-hard PES fanboys and whose opinions were gatekeeping the forums.

I am glad these people are gone, because the atmosphere is much more agreeable here since then. But, yes, we are somewhat in an echo chamber here, talking about things that do not seem to have much bearing on how stuff develops on the outside. But I am perfectly fine with this because generally I‘d rather connect as a “normal” guy to other „normal“ folk than to bloated egos whose ultimate goal is to be „relevant“.

No offence but you’re completely wrong. This forum is full of differing opinions without the hostility and arguments I’ve seen on Reddit. Over there people just talk about myClub and nothing else.

At least the Master League guys are around here. This is the only forum I can find online that craves a good ML mode.

I'm hopeful it will be better than 2019 but in terms of AI, it could hardly be worse. I think 2019 had literally the worst AI they've ever released so, hopefully, the only way is up.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're not putting any resource into properly evolving the AI anymore. I get the feeling they're just tweaking whatever AI model they wrote years ago to ensure they have a bare minimum that enables them to still sell it is a 1-player game and pick up those extra sales, whilst their real focus is on esports.

The move to next-gen consoles will be telling - if they just port over the same AI engine, then I think we can probably kiss goodbye to an real AI progress for a long time to come.

My positivity has turned slightly after watching yesterdays livestream. It showed a lot of sliding/footplanting during cutbacks and what i think is are those new finesse moves(?). Things like Suarez does here:

Not only does it look off, when you string these moves together which i believe to have seen on some occations, you might get something that could potentionally be exploitable. I can already see people dodging their way up to the field like this. Ofcourse this was probably played on regular and players got a lot of space they otherwise wont. I hope it is much more difficult when on a higher difficulty or human vs human and players have a compounding risk of tripping over the ball when overusing it.

I've noticed something regarding vs CPU matches.
Cpu does not dribble the ball, players are constantly passing. Except for Messi.
Messi dribbles a lot. Is this some special card/attribute? or instructions from gameplan?

Id say its those player treats.
I was asking the lads from e3 have they seen any skill moves and long shots from AI. They said yes to both. Also - according to them - long shots are more effective now from user point of view.
Stream was on regular difficulty, id say you'll see more sneaky AI on something higher.

What gives me hope is this 'inspire' feature. This is something that might gives us some more player and team ID.

I need to catch up with all the gameplay now.

Manchester and Juventus kits on France formation, now I understand why Konami don't show France during the live

Mbappé has a gray jersey but Adam confirm Ligue 1 are fully licenced in PES 2020 and for the future.

Good spot on Pogba and Matuidi, that
I think the Mbappe thing might just be oversight though, as I doubt they know any insider info in terms of a possible transfer.

sorry i've missed so many pages, are there any good vids or analysis on the AI yet? i'm interested to see if there are any improvements on the way they play and defend and the space on the pitch etc

I like what I see so far. I wasnt expecting new engine and was just hoping that they will polish what they had and looks like they did that.
Together with little tweaks, D2's, better dribbling, slower pace and improved ball physics - it looks promising.
One thing i dont like is not many fouls, so hoping for some tweaks there.

How the final game will look in compare to this is another mystery. Last years E3 looked fantastic and then they spent 10 months fixing the release version.

Fingers crossed.

PES 2019 isn't perfect but it is a very good football game i have enjoyed when i have played it this year although work and career has come first for me.

As for the place being toxic, i think the biggest problem here is the discussions here are very much being left in the past. I honestly think many old timers here don't know what they want anymore. I think someone mentioned PES 2008 again, that game is almost 12 years ago, that game came about before online was even a substantial thing, before online went mainstream. Back then gameplay was king and its why PES was the king, now gameplay isn't even a 2nd or 3rd factor no more. Licences and online modes come first and second! The world has changed and moved on and this place the discussion is very, very much still stuck in the past. This place has gone from a influential group to a minority and now it's literally a handful of people.

Back then was twitter even online? Now sadly twitter is the home for PES feedback and discussion, not here sadly, we need to wake up and realise that. I mean in terms of discussions you have reddit also.

I spoke to Lami about this years ago and he was concerned that Evo Web wasn't what it could be and his concerns are being realised here i feel, Evo web is good for our patching and modding section and this discussion forum has completely lost any weight or influence whatsoever on PES itself. This place has a mentallity where one person is unhappy and makes constant noise about the game being bad and gets really annoyed if someone disagrees with him.

People 10-15 years ago used to have to come to great forums like this to discuss PES, uploading anything was a pain 10-15 years ago hence why discussion forums were so big. Now this place is to find patches really and the discussion holds little to no water. since you have twitter and streamers where people can see things for themselves with ease and discuss things on live chats.

Football also like i have said is a totally different game compared to anything pre 2006-07. PES 2019 represents the modern game so well. The game is fast now and sadly sanitised to the point you cant tackle like before. Sadly we are in an era of athletes over artists like before.

These days even if the gameplay was perfection and all the modes where staked i'd still have issues picking teams to use becuase i find modern football rubbish. The world of football is not the same anymore and i feel that people here doesn't seem to get that.

Fantastic observation, see folks I don't comment here much but I do follow you guys for a long time, you guys are exceptional talent in your respective areas and I also respect all your views. Peeps, those were the past which were brilliant old days and we do cherish them but they are gone how much we try they will not come back simple days were over. Nowadays, all are complicated technology advanced to a certain level that the competition is huge with that come hunger for success and generally comes greediness. I used to be a follower of cricket and football you can say I was mad but nowadays with all the technology bullshit they involved I literally stopped watching cricket or for sometime. Same football is not like that, as used to be nowadays it like forcefully letting a player to be a favourite. No skills like the past, those greats played this beautiful game with there excellent attributes with pride and honour. Then this idiotic bullshit technology known as var and goal line technology hurting really hurting atleast for me. Referees performances in football and umpires in cricket are so much dependant that they don't believe themselves anymore. So referees like colina, Howard webb , kuipers and many greats who officiated there games like a boss are gone. To be proper sports are now being business oriented, otherwise the sheikhs wouldn't have any interested in them, no disrespected to anybody but they know shit and they don't care about it.
So my friends sorry for this post being so long but we can't do anything but adapt to this moron nowadays world. Konami need to survive so they are surviving like this and to be fair they have the right to survive we like it or not. So what we have we have to deal with it otherwise if we remain in past it will hurt us more so do cherish the past and accept the present and future. Thank you peeps.
