Did they say any word about the database? If they fixed the problem with the old EDIT000000.bin?
For some crazy reason, i expect versatile flexible editable leagues, that will be modified as hand-held fans, adding and removing 2nd and 3rd or 4th divisions at will.Plus all rosters capacity expand to 50 max and 2nd goalkeeper kits. Maybe i sound a little bit futuristic?? : P
Haha not crazy at all. Easily done it they had allocated any development resources to this game at all but they haven't. Lick of paint fellas. That's all this will be.

There is some improvement, but from what I have seen so far, ground passing/first touch control is still too perfect and penalty box to penalty box in 2 passes is still too frequent due to open spaces on the pitch. It all looks very samey to me, and this will very quickly lead to tedium a la pes 2019. Not a good enough first impression
I reserve the right to be pessimistic due to previous experiences with purchasing this product in a free world.

Yeah someone proposed it and it rooted to my brain as a false hope. My sensible self knows KONAMI doesn't offer such things, while my emotional part hopes for some reason.
I just asked, as i watched the bad streams muted and thought if they had some Q&A during the live or not, or if they comnented anything about database mess, lost 2nd divisions etc.

Just watched the portuguese stream. By all means, it is far from what this game could and should of been in 2019 but i see enough gameplay improvements that will most probably make me buy again this year. Main reason is that the variety seems to be increased because the overall context of situations is being weighted in more. At least, thats what i believe to observe.

Taking stats, ball speed/direction etc more into account makes the game less predictable but also more skill-centered because you have to consider the full context in each situation. Maybe i am just imagining things but normally these streams featuring FCB exist 80% out of laser guided passes whereas this one looked more like a PES 2019 Flamengo vs Corinthians when it comes to speed and variety of gameplay. I also like the added animations for short passes and first touches.

My expectations where very low i guess so a tiny evolution with slightly slower and considered gameplay is good enough for me, sadly.

I fully understand that! It has always been the same for me with PES. Hoping against better judgement and being disappointed in the end. The show is up for me though. This is the first year I'm not even feeling a smidge of hype ,or hope for that matter. Fifa19 served me fine,so did Pes 19. I've gotten up to speed with the new gameplay mods for PES 19 and these will serve me just fine if Pes 20 fulfills expectations i.e. it'll turn out to be a dud.

Mate, the day that happens the world will end!

don't know about database, but they showed the game data is 41 GB now ! 2019 was 28 GB if I won't wrong ...
I hope at least a little more space for edit mode too ...

Honestly don’t know how anyone can pick positives out of that other than the camera angle. I think it’s people grasping onto anything to give them a slither of hope despite Konami not delivering any in over a decade.

Animations look the same, it’s high tempo ping pong nonsense with super accurate passing and a ridiculous PS2 collision system that looks awful. The loading screens are still prevelant when the ball is out of play and the cut scenes are identical.

They updated some colour background and gave us a new ball with a better camera angle....that’s about it.

How can people not judge it when this is what they are showcasing...remember this was there big reveal and E3 was going to blow our minds...remember? Well if anything it just showed how amateur and poor these games and developers are now. Also Adam plays the game daily he tells us yet couldn’t showcase the biggest feature of the game in his words “precision dribbling” once in his gameplay footage, another gimmick.

People will continue to pretend it will be ok and such but the hardcore element of us PES/WE players is all but gone.

I do have to say, coz this made me laugh, throughout the whole announcement I was thinking to myself, that it almost looks like they have meetings just to come up with some fancy names and pretend they are the new features.
Introducing:
- One-slap-dont-touch-touch
- but... it looks like normal first touch from last year?
- yeah, but this time its one-slap-dont-touch-touch!

Watching the Facebook recording there are 20+ minute periods where you can fail to see a single wayward pass or physical coming together, and this is most likely on PA1. Mostly endless strings of perfect, on rails passes, and dizzying, instantaneous turns without any obvious drawback or improvements in defensive capability to provide a semblance of balance. I guess this is what you call "eFootball".

And I'm sorry to the people who are offended by the negative reaction, but it's like...do you never learn? Try to look past the new animations and ask whether there is any evidence of it having the depth to sustain extended play.

Matt10 for example was, I recall, super hyped about PES 2019 because he saw AI positioning improvements, is he still playing it? On his channel I see he's posted one PES video in the last 9 months, most of the content is FIFA related.

It seems that many people still can get really carried away by the hype. At one point yesterday morning someone was saying that maybe there was going to be a new engine. It seems like they forget it's Konami we are talking about here. Since years, after Pes 2014, it has been clear they don't invest in Pes at all. All those leagues that have been added are there because they stopped paying for UCL and Europa League rights and transfered that budget to those new leagues, but other than that i see nowhere Konami's will to invest in Pes.

A new engine would require too much effort. Now i really fear we are going to be stuck with Fox Engine tweaks until the game looks so outdated they will be forced.

Yesterday confirmed me one thing: Pes is stalling, and will continue being stale for a long time.

OK.. after watching several times of gameplay videos i can say that ... it's clean that Konami are working more on Next-gen version of the game, or I really hope so because the presentation is really poor for 2020 game highlight too.

Please don't get your hopes up. It's way more reasonable thinking they just see Pes as a low budget game. There is no indication at all, not even a teasing that next gen version will have a new engine. They changed Pes mobile engine, but that requires way less investment, and that is for the game they think it's extremely important for them because it's entirely based on microtransactions and lootboxes. They really want to push that as a product.

Oh and what i have not seen from pes 2019 is that referee decide stops the on-going play or cpu ai kicks the ball out of play whenever a player is seriously injured.

From FA.com
  • allows play to continue until the ball is out of play if a player is only slightly injured
  • stops play if a player is seriously injured and ensures that the player is removed from the field of play. An injured player may not be treated on the field of play and may only re-enter after play has restarted; if the ball is in play, re-entry must be from the touchline but if the ball is out of play, it may be from any boundary line. Exceptions to the requirement to leave the field of play are only when:

I'm suddenly starting to feel very fine and ok about how things have gone for virtual football then:LOL:.
See, i put more thoughts into it than it seems..
If future of football games was the way we painted it 20 years ago - good company would have had little sticky button, that you would just place on your forehead and it would transfer you onto the pitch.
Konami on the other hand would definetely had a probe up our arse..

What's ennoy me the most above all which have been mentionned...
Is that close control won't ever be on R2, and the right stick don't allow to makes us a mix of close control+passes.
Very rarely used the stick on PES. Not a big fan of this new change in terms of global feeling, not ergonomic at all, too "Fifa 18-19esque" even if it may duplicates the numbers of controls/dribbles/feints exponentionally.

So I caught up with the whole 6 minutes of gameplay and all I can say is - dont judge it by that, lads.
Pes Legends Vs Barcelona on a crappy stream with video going into blur mode at every long ball. It looked shit, it played shit.

But you wont see any proper ball physics like that, you wont see much shot variety if all players are 85+ on finishing.

We have to wait for proper clips, full matches, against AI mostly. There is no point of us getting our knickers in a twist here. Adam didnt sleep whole previous night (he was tweeting every two hours saying it)
I think excitement turned into exhaustion.
Then they couldnt find a plug or something for 40 mins. I think at the end they really didnt want to do this stream.

I said it before and will say it again - i think 19 had a solid core gameplay and id rather if they polished/fixed this baseline, than changing whole game again and making a bollox out of it.

I'll be much more excited if I hear news about new features, rather than gameplay.
Gameplay is and always will be most important, but we cant go by what we see there, or what they say there. Its all over the shop in there at the moment.
Sorry man, but we've been there before, every year. The result's been always the same.

I need to see big, obvious, evident changes. No more excuses and blaming ourselves. No more false hope. They either deliver or they don't. And they clearly still haven't, for me.

Back to waiting another year, again.

I'm certain that EA have something in their contract for Champions League rights where whoever wins the CL, EA get exclusivity on... wouldn't surprise me one bit.
So in a month they'll announce Bayern as new partner, next year they win the CL and Konami will be like "welp, ok then, time to drop them again"?
