Mate, his post was so insignificant in what I was trying to say in my post, that I didn't even quote it.
I'll state MY point & opinion (which can't be false by the way, it's mine), because you seem to be skipping alot of meaning in my words.

If we drop the torch & give up., no one else is going to pick it up.

When they rolled out 'newfootballgame' 0. whatever & said it was just a network test, the writing was on the wall.
The red flags were up our arses.
What did we do? "just wait, let them cook bro", "it's just the network test! why is everyone so mad?"
You say people don't get shutdown, go have a look and see how many people got shutdown. "Be positive mayyyn"

You keep insinuating that we are just a small minority & we can't make change .. that's exaclty how you go about ruining change.
They are trying to erase history and let utter trash become the norm.

Some people want to see or make a change, if you don't, don't worry about it. You won't understand, no matter how many questions you ask.
 
That people getting addicted is not new or part of the current generation. There will always be products focusing on addication and others on quality of gameplay, both groups will always exist.

People still want good games, whether they are critizing or applauding the positive.

Sharing my point of view:
Seabass was great at making PES games, eFootball is the first iteration with new people / directors. Neither critizing nor applauding alone will do unless a competent person does a game (or becomes competent over time).

With Seasbass who worked on (approximatly) PES 1-2021, gone, hopefully new talented people create, good games, wheather it´s called eFootball, UFL, FIFA, EA FC or anything else.

Discussing is usually not that meaningfull, when it means convining others of one owns opinion. Just sharing information and let everyone else make up his mind.

I am glad, there are the good old games still availalble (even thought steam does no longer sell them). I am also glad for modders and creators of new soccer games.

Where does seabass work for nowadays?

Can 2021 still be played on a steam deck with mods?
 
good questions. Maybe someone else can answer them, in detail. Last i know was, that since PES 2019 he was just in the "special thanks" then as director. It seems his roles became more and less involved in the gameplay and my previous post was only partly correct.

PES 2021 can be played and be modded. Don´t know about Steam Deck, other remote control tools work fine.

I play Football Life 25 on the Lenovo Legion Go, so my guess is it would also work on Steam Deck.

So gambling was always around right? For sure, there were underground casino's & people would get a digit chopped off if they messed around.
Was there also 14 year old's stealing dad's credit card to buy a player pack? Was there V-Bucks to buy a texture for your character?

There was kids stealing cash from their parents to buy Magic cards, Pokemon cards, Panini stickers etc before yes. Kids using up all their pocket money in arcades for 5 minutes of play. Kids do dumb shit. In every generation.

Funnily enough I think it's harder today for kids to use their parents cash then 20 years ago. Like my credit cards need either me giving approval through my finger on my phone or in my banking app before being used. I now can put locks and securities in consoles and games to actually avoid misuse.

I think there is legit criticism for Gacha mechanics but I sometimes am surprised how less supervision kids have nowadays.

Heck my parents knew exactly if I played Doom or Mortal Kombat at a friend's house (which were games forbidden in our country) and I never even got the idea to steal my parents credit card because of the trouble I would be in.

Like yeah I also want the feeling of old PES games back and just football games I enjoy. But I don't paint modern gaming as the devil incarnate as you do. Because it's not. It is still the same gaming companies they always have been since gaming started with Pong. Companies who want to make money, with employees who usually are passionate about engineering, gaming and art, where people still work hard and try their best to create entertainment while also making money. Again look at how gaming started with Atari: Bushnell saw an opportunity to make money and hired young kids who were passionate about creating things and working in tech. But in the end Atari was a business that wanted to make money. That always has been the driver in gaming. Even Nintendo went into gaming since they saw you can make money in the Arcades.

It always has been in gaming: get you to pay another dime in the arcade machine, entertain you at home but also have you buy the next game, get you to buy expansion packs and CDs, get you to DLC, get you to buy items in game. The reason has always been the same: from company side to make money and from most people working in those companies: to make an entertaining game.


And if I don't like a game? I just don't spend money on it. That's how it is. As long as Konami doesn't give me an enjoyable Master League I play what they offer for free without spending a dime. Getting some fun matches out of it but also not investing too much time in it.

I vote with my wallet and that's it. Otherwise I just play games that interest me: 8 Bit Adventures 2, Bang Average Football or Ufo 50.

My point is, if there are no people sharing the past, or more importantly, learning from it, then yes PES 2021 or FIFA 16 maybe will be what the new generation will know.
They won't ever know that those older games recreate ball physics MUCH more true to life than even PES 2021. (IMHO don't come at me 😆 )

No one cares that anybody is enjoying eFootball, or EAFC. But we shouldn't be so complacent about it all. We shouldn't just let them be the bar-standard for Football games.

Man, in PES 6 you ran in 8 directions and ball was stuck to your feet. Let's stop glorifying games that, yeah, back in the days were great games, but that nowadays are simply outdated technologically speaking. 8 direction movement and ball freedom have been revolutionary in Playstation3/XBOX 360 generations, which btw are, IMHO the gold days of videogame industries, back in the days when big companies were still daring to do something new (it was, for example, when AC saga was born). Late 00's and early 10's was the best time for the gaming industry in any genre. Big sagas were born, old sagas consolidated and evolved... And I am no kid, I am 34 yo. I know what I am speaking about.

So really, let's stop idolizing old games. Take a look to games like PES 11 to 13, even PES 14 if it is true that it was a bit of a flop in its moment. Or FIFA pre 17, those were great games aswell. Yeah, they were far from perfect, but for example, FIFA 16 with a couple of mods you can get really good things.

I'm not idolizing though, or seeing through the rose-tinted glasses. I see all the problems with PES 6. But it still feels more like football to me than new gen games.
I'm not saying remake 6. There is a lot the new games could take from it. In my opinion the ball actually felt like a seperate entity ALOT more. The deflections , the ball spin after a deflection. You can see it the physics model at work. With the new games, it's terribly timed animations. You notice the ball & player sync unaturally.

This has nothing to do with how old the games are. This has to do with coding, or lack thereof. EDIT: e.g Halo 1 & 2 are old. But they have the best enemy AI

@Jay-Jay 10 You raise some very valid points. Especially about the arcades.
I respect your opinion also. Yeah I can seem a bit doom & gloom, but I see how they work. I still stand by the fact that it's worse than it has ever been.

EDIT 2 : Another main aspect of those old games' greatness is consistency.
The rules & laws of the physics model are much more prominent. Is there scripting & magnetism to your players? yes there is.

But you will find in PES 5 & 6, you can physically cut off a pass with positioning ( & a lot of super cancel ) .. the ball will deflect off the player realistically if it's too fast, but you can physically get in the way.
What happens in the new gen games? If the CPU decides your not getting that ball. Yourr player will just watch it roll by him.
There are even clips of the ball literally phasing through a player. Because the rules are not physics based, or consistent.

Even with all its technology limitations the game provide a better experience than, for example, the very overrated Pes2021.
I am not saying It was more realistic,but it was more consistent,polished and the game was overall well rounded and balanced with the features it had.
Compared to Pes2021, efootball and all the newer Pes, old Pes did a lot of things better too: more responsivness, better shooting, better a.i awarness, overall more variety on the pitch, better collisions physical challenges between players, better players individuality...

My main problems with efootball isn't that I can't play master league, because now that we have a lot of teams to play with, i would be happy to play random exibithion match (like i am doing in all football games i am playing, cause i don't have time to dedicate at a career mode),but its gameplay. I really don't like It,same for pes2021. They want be realistic at any cost,but they can't with those animations that don't fit a 360 degree dribbling's control, that horrible monodimensional shooting and the horrible way players do physical battles...

EaFc25, on sim sliders, even with all its flaws,skating,1vs1... do a way better job,and it's a way better and more deep game than efootball

That's what happens when you try to do a more complex game, that is more difficult to polish it precisely because it is complex. But let's be honest, we want a complex, realistic, and polished game. You can't say that an old PES is better just because is more polished, because its lack of complexity already make it be behind many of its competitors. And it can be done such a thing as a complex but polished game. But obviously, it needs time and a true will to make things right.

Tbh, if you ask me, EA FC is even with it's lack of intention in the past iterations, a much better option this year, for the few things I saw, and reason behind is it is that intentions have changed. I also play NFS, and belive it or not, EA FC is starting to listen to their players. Don't think it is because they care about us, obviously, it is because they care about them. Unlike Ubisoft, EA has understood that they have to start making better products if they want a more wide audience. They can't be conservative and just do the same product all and again cause they know consumers will fed up and start consuming other games (NFS, where they have started to do a bit more sophisticated and polished physics and handling while still being arcade) or better of cases (EA FC) they won't be able to scratch more market than their already secured one, and therefore, will be having problems to grow if another franchise comes and establishes in a better situation than them. UFL might not be a big threat, but is already an alternative, and more are already appearing. Is just a matter of time that some alternative comes and takes players away from them. Many people end up playing online and putting money therer just by starting the offline mode and getting bored of it. Yes, might not be THAAAAT much. But I guess is enough share of the market so as to make them react and want to secure it, because if another alternative comes and offers a different gameplay, and a better alternative for a more "simulative" game, they will loose part of the market. So they need to at least, position themselves as a decent alternative.

And this is a perfect example of what I mean, EA FC 25 has certain systems going behind the curtain, and does a great job in simulating certain things of the game even while having certain issues, precisely because it is more complex. But due to the fact that EA has been working on the same build for several years, they already have figured out how to improved in the direction they want. And I say figured out and not completely in control, because there's a lot of people going in and out from the market, but you can say that at least, game has improved this year, mainly because they wanted it, cause they sensed that if they didn't, eventually, would end up having less benefits. Let's say it like this, they needed good press.

And I am expecting a much better behaviour this next years.

If we analyze PES story, though, we will see that what people claims that are the best games of the franchise, are games that had been evolving for a long time steadily, PES 2011 was the second game on a new engine, iirc, starting with PES 2010. They faced a lot of issues until they reached a good point with PES 2013. With PES 2014, they had a lot of revolutionary ideas that were not carried on, sadly. IMHO, if PES 2014 ideas were carried on, we would have now an amazing game.

While eFootball 25 is a significant improvement (to me) compared to 24, however several aspects of gameplay still require refinement:

eFootball 25: Areas for Improvement
  1. Passing:
    • Passing accuracy, ball speed, and animation quality of the passings need enhancement, especially during counterattacks.
    • A wider variety of passing options would also add depth to the gameplay.
  2. Player Responsiveness:
    • The game's responsiveness has improved, but further refinements are necessary to make player controls feel more fluid and intuitive.
    • Faster player rotation and ball control would significantly enhance the overall gameplay experience.
    • Players should react more quickly when receiving the ball
  3. The pace of opponent attacks in 1v1 situations often feels faster than the player's ability to respond. Either the player's response time should be increased or the opponent's attack speed reduced.
  4. Shooting:
    • The speed of shots should be more varied, and a wider range of shooting options is needed.
    • Currently, many shots are easily saved by goalkeepers ( programmed), regardless of the player's shooting attributes.
  5. Player Speed and Catch-Up Mechanics:
    • The current catch-up mechanics, where slower players can easily close down faster ones, are unrealistic.
  6. Referee Decisions:
    • Referee decisions, particularly in the penalty area, can be inconsistent and frustrating.
    • These decisions need to be more accurate and fair.
  7. Heading:
    • Heading accuracy, power, and speed should be more realistic and dependent on the player's individual attributes.

I agree with u and i want a more complex and realistc game too.. what i was saying is that pes2021 and efootball are,for my sake, bad and boring to play, while PS2 pes give me a lot of fun even today.
Pes2014 is my favorite pes on Fox engine,the game had a lot of potential (even if shooting started to be dull from this chapter).
 
Meh, waiting for the next update. Game became too scripted when you play against CPU on super star, it's really heavily scripted. Especially visible when two very good teams play each other, for example Chelsea-Liverpool. eFootball at this point has simply became PES 2021, but even worse.

Put your own gameplay on , I've never played with SP gameplay , I even use a modded exe now too

This was 2 years ago, he has 2.0 out now which is even more impressive. What a beast, & what an engine!
 
Erm...to chip in a bit.

I'm 36 and I am old/young enough to have lurked forums 20 years ago for option files and the likes and do get *some* points as to what what previous posters have been saying.

But...not this.

As @Marlon Anthony has said, there is righful frustration from many in here, maybe younger/older than you or I, who just kinda like the gameplay currently but simply want a Master League component to see if there is some depth there.

I think eFootball plays brilliant, but that is not me saying the animations/ball physics and whatever else are where they should be. They aren't, and it is a bit tragic.

However...

Legend difficulty is sweet to play against (and also maddening!) with what *is* there. What is there means I pick up and play the odd match, which isn't what I want. It doesn't mean I've lost the plot/not old enough to remember the classics or whatever. It's just a very good pure gameplay experience bettered by the utter frustration that there is nothing to do!
 
Anyways i think "nostalgia" argument can't hold up at all..
Yesterday a friend of mine, who played a lot with me co-op tournament at pes2021 during its time,came to my home for some co-op matches vs CPU..
He never played old PS2 Pes during its era,so nostalgia argument can't be valid for him. He played some PS2 pes with me sometimes in last months,and immediatly appreciate them a lot.
We was not able to end first half on both efootball and Pes2021 (which is the last football game he bought).. and he is more harsh than me judging both games.
We switched to We10Le and we had such great moments of fun. He really can't go back to Pes21 or efootball after playing It.
I know it is all about personal tastes, but in our opinion there isn't really nothing to like about efootball...
Shooting physics and no existent player's individuality makes these games so dull predictable,boring... without mention all others flaws they have.
