eFootball (All Platforms)

I've said this previously but them making good money from the current philosophy should be a net positive. There is not downside to adding offline modes at a cost, it should increase profit and the investment required is limited given they already have the foundations. Unfortunately I fear none of that matters and they won't bother anyway.

The point there indeed. It SHOULD be good news for them to put work into the game, but you just know they won't and focus more on how to double down on their profits

eScriptBall - is the same "Kingdom of Script" or "Circus with horses", where real skills don't matter.
Developers using technologies not for making proper soccer simulator, but for "playing feelings" of peoples, not best feelings.
P.S. This is not a King, we wait for (c)

As much as i like playing the game Unreal Engine sucks for modding. It's been 4 years with the game almost has 0 content for offline players + modding is very hard & basic for the game. Atleast with fox engine we can add things easily. Hell even PES 15/16 modding look more advance than we have with eFootball UE Modding. We've been spoiled with Kitserver & Sider over the years :CONF:

And Konami will never be opened for modding, that's why it sucks :(( Bring back fox engine or develop new engine that allow modding without dev/pub support. Atleast with Fox we can do it easily. Compare with Sider Era, PES 15/16 looks barbaric to add mods but man, eFootball modding is more like a stone age.

It's just a decision from Konami. They don't want modding since they are not focusing in off-line, but rather in online. This is eFootball, not PES, it's name already tells you that they seek becoming eSports, not a football sim. That usually brings problems in terms of modding since community work is not needed (they don't need real competitions or leagues, neither teams, if there's not an off-line, or ML mode, or even a league mode like for seasons without all the transfers and team management, only having matches) so they despise any effort community might want to do related to this. Not to mention gameplay changes, which are even more despised when there's not a real off-line mode that you might want to play on your own. Clearly, they don't want any kind of interference from their final product, and this is killing eFootball, because even FIFA has both it's online and offline modes, and there are tools to mod the gameplay and make something closer to simulation. Even they added a "sim mode" and a "tactic mode" which is not even close to what's needed, only a set of sliders, but is a step ahead and if you couple it with mods, the results are pretty amazing.

PES always had the advantage over FIFA of being more simulation leaned already in it's base, but also the fact that mods could make the game even more simulation, and had that hardcore base that prefered to play PES rather than FIFA cause it was way more realistic with a few mods. So Konami knew that they had a more realistic gameplay and they decided to move it into the online mode. But guess what? Yeah, 0.9 was realistic but was not so well built in certain regards, and besides of that, their focus on being a esport and trying to compete with FIFA in that regard meant they had to be less realistic in order to be more plain and predictable, since that's what you look in a esports. Less random things so you can have more controlled meta. And even when there's a meta in real football aswell, is way less predictable than in a esports because well... physics. You can't change physics irl but you can do so in a game. So instead of wanting a more realistic meta, less controlled, and adapt to it, and create a new way of seing esports, online players asked for a more controlled game, and Konami delivered... but in this process lost most of its hardcore base players, which only play the game because of the fact it's free and somewhat more realistic than FIFA in terms of online, but still many of us have decided not to play the game so much and rather buy FC because of the off-line modes and modding capability. And guess what else. With the introduction of UFL and GOALS, that might have a slightly different scope on meta, maybe one of the two a bit more realistic than eFootball, they might loose even more players. The online community is gonna be very divided, and there's not such a big market there because of that division.

I see that EA FC is getting a rise in terms of sells because they worked out a lot their animations in EA FC 25, plus sim mode added. Even if it is not what we hardcore fans want, the fact we can actually mod it to our likings, as we used to do with previous PES, is getting us slowly getting away from eFootball because modded EA FC is the closest thing we can have to old PES. We might only want to play eFootball if we want to play online because EA FC online is still very arcady, but with new options coming in, or even with EA FC eventually adding a less arcady mode for online, eFootball will be doomed for good. eFootball completely gave up on the things that made PES still have some fanatics and some community behind them (realistic gameplay, modding cappability and off-line modes), and they all went to FC cause it is the only game that now provides that. Instead, Konami decided to compete in a market which each time has more competition getting in and eventually, they will be simply another of the many online football titles in the market, with no special appeal for a certain playerbase. Without any trademark feature within eFootball, they will be unable to shine over their competitors, and the only game that will actually be able to hold their position and shine over their competence will be, ironically, EA FC. The pioneers of online mode, that have a fidelized online community only because of the facts they were the first ones in doing so, will be now the standard-bearer aswell of off-line modes, making them, oficially, the best football game on the market, cause it will be the only one covering all the specters of the market, online arcade, and offline simulation through mods. This is a RIP for eFootball. The game needs desesperately to get some personality if they want to survive once UFC and GOALS come into the market and polish the game.

Bottom line is UE sucks, I've seen enough on net prasing this engine as very moddable but in reality it sucks without the dev "open" the door for modding. Please no more UE in future, fuck UE 😐

This is never going to happen. Sorry to shatter your dreams, but I doubt they are finally going to walk that road. At least I haven't heard anything for the moment.

All I can say is (and it is silly Konami don't push this fact) that eFootball on a 40 series card equipped PC/laptop with unlocked framerate is AMAZING to play.

The level of response and the general AI smarts/thinking blows the current gen consoles versions out of the water. I played exclusively on PS5 for a few years until a couple of weeks ago and the difference in experience is GIGANTIC.

Alas, it simply makes me even more mad that there isn't a Master League mode.

I gave up on EFootball today and purchased half price EAFC 25 on PS5 after hearing good things about it. First FIFA I've bought since 2014. Only played 2 matches, but good lord, it's leagues ahead of Efootball. Presentation wise it's what a current gen football game should look like. It doesn't have the same joy of passing as Efootball has, which makes it feel anything is possible in Efootball, but everything else is so much better. The AI is way better than I was expecting from an EA game. The sim mode sliders work really well, although the pace of on the ball sprinting needs increasing (so will need to use custom sliders for that). One great bit was seeing the AI shoot from outside the area and a player in front of them ducking out of the way of the shot. Saw it from a replay too and it looked incredible. I've been PES all my gaming life outside of original FIFA, FIFA World Cup 98 and FIFA 14 and after only two games played it's already wowed me. Actually excited about a football game for the first time since PES 2021. I'd like to see Efootball bring me back like PES 2015 did after I skipped PES 2014, but I just can't see it happening now sadly.

Yeah i agree. I haven't played efootball on ps5, but I imagine is so much better on a decent level PC. Im playing on PC, with the top AMD gpu, the Asus Tuf 7900xtx + Amd cpu 78003dx or whatever its called, and I play at 1080p @ 120 or 240hz (to be honest, i can't tell a whole lot of difference between the 2 on a 135" projector screen + gaming projector), but there is no blurring a passing ball like there is at 60hz. 4k at 60hz is ok, but i much prefer the 120 or 240hz for smoothness.

Anyways, this efootball looks and plays so well at the moment. On the ball just feels so good. No frame drops, just beautifully smooth, and additionally the response is amazing.. for me, noticeable better than pes2021 (which i also play at 1080p @ 120 or 240 hz). I'm now at a point where I do prefer efootball to pes2021, as there are just so many things this game does better. Its more fluid, has smoother animations, which obviously includes the transitions, improved player models/graphics, the reaction time is superior, ball physic are more realistic etc... even the vanilla AI is improved. Just can't wait until the game is modded more deeply, to further enhance graphics, turf, lighting, stadiums balls etc..

Little bit of offtopic, written some time ago

It's just a variation of visual look-a-like soccer
Where are useless even when playing as a foxy Joker!
And your skills means just literally nothing
But rude manipulation powered by script - is king!

I have no words how to describe
That beauty of soccer was replaced by a lie
Instead of wise team work on the field
We see a clowns circus based on the body of PES rebuild!

Unreal Engine modding is dog💩 right now unless konami give us some opening "door" which probably never.

Not a fan with replacing file here & there. Sure it's much easier but ever since Sider released i just can't go back. Sider flexibility is out of this world.

Redownloaded again. Tried a few games on Professional, which I won. The last being 4-3 late winner as Greece against England. Tried a Boca v Juventude game on Top Player and lost. But I felt like I got an idea of how to play the game at last. I may stick with it and play occasionally alongside FC 25. It has the advantage of exclusive leagues I love (J.League and Liga MX mainly). I'm willing to give them a chance here (but no deal)

Wanted to try out my stadiums from fifa 16 ... Since konami dropped pes 21 out of steam, is there any way to get the season update from a key site?
It seems so rare, that the price is on 640 € on some sites...

Or isnt there a difference between 21 and 20? ( sider, servers ect )?

You're posting in the wrong thread, but the best thing to do would be to download Football Life
