eFootball (All Platforms)

What I don't understand is, if people tested a version of the game that is in a better state than the one we are currently playing then why doesn't Konami release it? It doesn't make any sense what ever way you look at it.
It takes time to get your code through the approval process of each platform (PlayStation, Xbox etc.). You submit it as soon as you feel comfortable with the state of it, so that when the release date comes around, it's already been approved (and if not, you've had time to fix it).

It didn't break any consoles, so it got the thumbs up from the platform owners (that's all they really care about).

On Konami's side, they only cared about hitting that release date, and getting something out there when people were buying FIFA, to give them an alternative.

As for the advanced build - either that will be the next released version (Oct 28th), or, if it's not, they've had to backtrack due to code issues introduced by some of the new features...

Finally, and with no offence intended to anyone else at the playtest, please bear the last paragraph of this set of tweets in mind:

But this is why you have Day 1 patches, right? Sure you have to submit something early, but as I understand it, it's more flexible with subsequent patches.

I could be wrong about that. But lots of games seem to install first day updates to patch over the code that's gone "gold" these days.

I'm basing this on "back in my day" in the job, but, I think that flexibility pretty much depends on who you are. You'd think Konami could get a bit of special treatment given the size of the company, but maybe not.

Perhaps a lot of it is down to the number of platforms they have released on, all at once, with a tiny team, and huge pressure (plus Covid) - and the dates they're setting are to ensure that every "day one patch" hits every platform at once.

But I thought the whole point of eFootball was having one code base that was easier to manage in that regard.

That's true regarding the day 1 patch. They must have had testers seeing the things we are seeing with the dodgy collisions and such. They should have released a patch as soon as possible to fix those animations and the referee bug, the disappearing players and such.

They gave Madden 22, a broken mess of a game a 6.0 and the game is the worst rated Madden game on steam and on metacritic.

Maybe it's easier to kick a free game, on the basis you can praise it as it evolves?

I'm not sure. Ign have always been suspect in my mind. I suppose they all are, except metro gamecentral who generally feel like the gold standard to me these days.

Just had to delete four FIFA reviews in a row. Absolutely nothing to do with eFootball.

(Please don't reply to this and tell me "it's natural to compare them" - there's a thread for that. We don't come here to read your FIFA thoughts. If you STILL have to argue about this, your post will be deleted, so PM me.)

Come on, guys. Help us out. We're trying to keep the thread insult-free and on-topic. It shouldn't be difficult.

It’s also worth remembering everyone (this also applies to myself obviously), but - it’s just a video game.

A video game. It just doesn’t really matter at the end of the day.

Mate, invest some time on playing it & you might enjoy it. I’m referring to the PS5 version & can’t comment on the PC version. Ok Konami have received abuse for this version & rightly so but imo it’s playable on console & there others who are playing it as well. I’m not touching FIFA & I don’t want play pes 6 for the next few years. Gaming has evolved.
I have invested quite a bit of time on it yet what they’ve done , imo has sent the franchise in the opposite direction. This is not what I would regard as evolving.

You're right. But i couldn't resist to provocation. It's legit to erase it, but humanly it was legit to me to answer, whatever the thread. I never started personally but i can't contain myself when i read people talking like if it's the absolute thruth when there's a very different approach. i know about Fifa, but when i read some stuff i can't handle myself to answer, sorry again. And i'm also sick to read comparison, even with PES 2021.

But remember it's a bashing thread, everyone is talking a bit O.T. mate. Some don't even know or remember what's permitted (to me it's clear, say what you want, even talk about older PES games, but Fifa comparision is enough.).

The issue is that VS thread you purpose is dead, no one can compare without trash talking and insulting people who prefers a game for X reasons than talking about preferences. But i remember, it's started very well at the time. And it was a great thread to understand each other. But in that current situation.... "Insulting" directly no, but insulting intelligence i see it in a miles away.
I don't think the situation would be resolve by that thread, but the opposite.

But you're right Chris to clean up. I got enough to see provocation or pushing people with some small sentences to play the only other football game also, subliminal like some people does. Even that annoy me a bit. Leave people to make their own choice, promoting doesn't work here, we're all stubborn lol.

Edit: i switched the PM part wasn't about what you mentioned through but sorry.

Now i said what i wanted to say, no need a big conversation about it mate. I respect you, and i like you so don't take it personally, you're smart enough to understand that i talk about the situation, and you know there's nothing against each others as "members" and not moderators or whatever else

Just... just.... don't say that . WE ALL know that is just video game, but . . . . . . . but it's something that has been a part of our lives for 25 years, one way or another. As @Matt10 said, literally PES saved his life because keep him busy, in very difficult moments of his life, the same goes for me, maybe not in the same context. Or maybe playing co-op Master League with ours best friends, on PES 4-6 every Saturday night, half drunk, and with so much passion during the week to text each other with ideas of which player to buy and what tactics will be most appropriate while we are on work or we are in lectures. Or we finally got dads to play a game, with us, to share ours passion for football and video games, together, those great moments in ours memory and even now .. when they are no longer with us ... we've already sealed these moments so precious to us.

Each of us can share a similar story, and that can be said for .. everything .. not just for a certain game, but thing as music, movie, even food.

We all know that this is just a game, but one way or another we realize that in some situations it is something more, and that's why we are here! We still care!

I don't know if you'll understand what I mean, but it's quite difficult for me in English

I understand mate. PES on many time, even FIFA in PS3 era kind of saved me... But it caused some trouble with my ex-girlfriend at the same time especially when i started to edit :JAY:
But it saved me on a very hard time on my life. Twice. i won't told my like story but whatever.
I completely agree and understand.
BUT for some it's just a video game too, or a simple passion. To me it more than that, it's part of my life like... Nothing else in terms of video-enterainement.
Even editing. Not only playing. The pleasure when you've created a team with all you got, ready to play...

They won’t make money in sales because they don’t have the official licenses; they simply can’t compete with EA. I bought season update for £3 on psn recently & there are no offline cup modes & ML which is disappointing. I understand that people miss Master League. Stripped down tactics don’t really bother me as I only used a couple & even those never really worked online. I’ve played quite a few online games & they’ve been really close games - like a breath of fresh air to me compared to pes2021 even though it’s a really old build. People are right- a day one patch should’ve been a priority. On a personal level; I don’t have hours of free time for gaming & I like to play other genres apart from footie games.

100%. If we were #normal we'd have quit on this game years ago. A lot of us have stories on how this game means/meant so much to us, took up so much of our time, spent so many hours playing against friends on and offline, etc. I spent the best part of 3 years spending all of my free time doing patches for the game and during that period, I wasn't exactly living my best life and I'm grateful I had something to focus on and PES/WE was and will always be a big part of my life and identity even if I never play the game again. None of us would be here if we didn't care a little. Of course we're upset at the e$hitball product but I don't think any of us want the game to fail or Konami for that matter. We want the greatest comeback since Lazarus and we want this game to be the best footy game we've ever played eventually.

If this whole project dies on it's ass, I'll still keep playing PES6 and PES2021. The other game can't get it's shit together and they have all the time, money and resources imaginable. Let's wait and see what the first few patches bring. As long as there's steady improvement, I'll get behind and support the project. I might punch it in the ballsack occasionally (diss it) until it gets there but none of us win anything by throwing the towel in this early.

Noticed a growing trend of youtubers and forum members backpedaling on their impressions this week and I can appreciate people are entitled to do so but let’s not forget that the game they released was deliberate. They didn’t accidentally release a shambolic game they knew the quality was substandard.

The news of an update coming at the end of the month is welcome but if doesn’t vastly improve the game, which let’s be honest it probably won’t Konami are setting themselves up to be savaged by the community. I personally would like them to remove match time restrictions to an already limited offline mode but they’re highly unlikely to do that.

If you have them handy, could you perhaps share some of those videos?

I feel like I must be taking crazy pills, cuz I'm actually finding a lot more positives in the game than others seem to, and I'm a fairly pessimistic person by nature.

Of course, the game is a buggy mess that should've never been released in its current state, but I think I may see a light at the end of this tunnel (that hopefully won't turn out to be an incoming train).

Version 0.9.1 will be released on October 28.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/e...with-fixes-for-the-games-issues/1100-6496909/

Version 0.9.1. Just a little update in 0.0.1. They're not even confident or ready for a proper finished 1.0.0.

Edit: This was already posted 3 pages back. Nevermind. Still true about the tiny update though. A 0.0.1 should probably come within the week. If it takes a month for such a small update then I get the feeling it's being done by one person in his bedroom.

Like some of you said before, PES is not just a game to us. It's a passion.

I've spent literally thousands of hours editing, playing Master Leagues, creating teams and stories in my head. It is my favorite saga ever, and that's a lot to say because I've played video games since I was a kid in the nineties.

Take a look at my Master League Stories if you wanna see the depth of my PES interest..

I totally agree with @vialli82, creating a team, or playing with the team you love, watching it grow, imagining a story around the team is amazing. It's one of my favorite things anywhere. To many people, it might be just a pastime, but for some of us, it represents something which is much more than just fun and games. And that's the whole point, it's an experience. :TU:

I’m starting to really like this game offline.Ive now realised using the RB button and RT together allow me to dash when my player hasn’t got the ball.Much easier now to move, cut off passing lanes and disrupt play more directly when I’m not on the ball.I now have the direct control of Pes21,other then.I now need to hold one button and press another to get the same result.(totally illogical and uncomfortable).

The passing is evidently the most developed part of the game and again.I’m finding that instinctive and pure fun interms of lofting the ball, striking it at different contact points, getting various spin and also variation on ground passes with different parts of my boot and foot position.I like the variety of animations and how they vary based on how high the ball is bouncing or in the air,as does the spin and power.I am also playing manual.

There’s definitely a lot of optimisation that’s needs to be done here.Frame rates on replay’s that fluctuate.Texture pop-in,players freezing on the ball/no reacting to it etc.

Shooting feels nice and crisp and again much like the passing. The work has been done on facilitating the animations that contribute to headers, volleys and how those animations link together and vary based on the bounce of the ball.

This is the game that Konami have been working on for 2 years.Whether people choose to believe it or not based on a decision to switch to a free to play model and scalability to mobile platforms. The amount of work that been done on animations, player likenesses and the mechanics of movement and passing is something that isn’t achievable in less than a year.

Thats not to say this game doesn’t need a lot of optimisation and fine tuning in regards to response and polish..But I genuinely believe this is only a build or two away from being something representative of a finished product on the pitch.

Switch to the camera that allows you to see the whole pitch.Drop the circle. And minus good response, player awaresnnes and a bucket load of optimisation and your just playing Pes21 with better animation graphics and physics.Foot planting and passing and shooting that totally adheres to the laws of physics.

It’s raw at times but a lot of its optimisation. If you look pass this, there really is a engaging and clever game under the hood, that is technical.

Playing on the series X.

Agreed, agreed, agreed!

it’s raw, but it’s fun. I can’t go back to 21 after playing this. I love the challenge it presents.

I'm honestly very surprised Konami hadn't and haven't completely seen this and capitalised on it. There are a lot of people with similar stories that Konami's own game has given them. It made so many of us attached to their game, and many of us on an emotional level for many different reasons.

Instead of Konami taking advantage and capitalising, seeing they have a very large base of passionate and very attached fans who they can easily satisfy and make a very steady and guaranteed profit from because they're "in the pocket", they completely ignore all that and take the risk of going after a mirage of unsympathetic, non-passionate whales who can and will leave them at the drop of a dime, because they're not attached to the product/franchise.

Some publishers/devs would kill for this type of attachment PES has (or had I guess) that Konami are stupidly throwing away.

I am glad you're getting a lot out the game, but... foot planting? This is the skatiest PES I've seen. Genuinely can't understand how a person could play eFootball 2022 and admire the foot planting. Would be like going to a Tory party conference and being impressed with the compassion on show.

you probably mistaken skating with inertia. There is a lot inertia in player movement (the best inertia implemented ever in a soccer game). this makes players to take more time to stop and turn, and lose their balance. I am a footplanting and animation fan, and I find footplanting in ef2022 the best (pes 2018 and pes 2014 had was decent enough) ever released from KONAMI. I mean look how smooth they turn, look all these small stepping taps when they stop...
