Really, really often, they think because a technology is more recent and advanced that the overall rendering will looks better. Wrong.
Just see in i don't remember which Fifa when they introduced a special lighting, players gotted very weird shadows in their faces and looked pretty ugly.
Sometimes, there's progress isn't always about doing thing super complicated. Take a look at Okami HD for example : it looks better than some PS4 with great technical features, but too much "pixarised" and with no soul.
Same goes for everything in fact. Well i wouldn't say PES 2013/let's say it's a matter of taste but presets are way better in current PES for example but at least 2010 to me. Even some presets faces can match with what we saw, and even PES 2015 to 2021
Sorry mate, but I can't translate what you are saying.
Anyway, my point is that the game looks ugly, I don't like the look of this game. That's my personal opinion.
And I meant several things when I said art style:
- I don't like how right the kits look here.
- All the players seem to have swelled up arse/ buttocks, I hate that look.
- Lighting looks okay on some scenes but on other weather/ match times the lighting looks awful.
- Gameplay camera grass texture straight up looks awful.
- We are on Ps5 generation and the cloth physics still doesn't look bouncy. The thing is, back in PES 14 they at least tried. The clothes had decent bouncing to it. Looking at PES 17 [ps4/xbpme] and PES 18 [pc/ps4/xbone] even those had some nice bouncy cloth physics, not as good as PES 14 but it still looked promising.
Things I did like here:
- Sometimes the lighting looks okay.
- Compared to PES 21, the colors don't seem to look over saturated.
- Close up shots of 3d grass looks okay.
- Despite dumbed down cloth physics, the 3d model of the cloths do deform and wrinkle up, this is nice but they are stuck on the players body like magnets.
By the way, I absolutely hate tight kits for this. But even the current nike and addidas kits on real life are loose enough to bounce, so I'd like if we could see realistic cloth physics some day.
While engine change can cause some downgrades, the current game looks way too bad. This is the first time I'm seeing such downgrades. Back in the day with change to fox engine with pes 14, i was actually very impressed by the graphics. So the current downgrades doesnt meet my minimum expected standards.
This is just my complaint about the art style. But now comes the biggest concern of mine:
- This game will be an online game. I have suspicions about how much we can mod the game, if at all. Base game without real team names, player names, kits and faces look awful to me and all these years I've played heavily modded PES and FIFA games. And I like to play with classic players. If the game becomes completely online focused, it might end up in such a way that if we add more head models and change the ingame files, the game will not boot in order to prevent cheating in online matches.
- I don't mind multiplayer. But I have absolutely no interest in playing online. I usually just have fun with my friends and multiplayer with my friends locally in my house. Online focused gameplay might cause the AI to be not upto my expectations.
Other issues that made me not like PES in past few years:
- Player locomotion is sluggish. This is why I still stick with pes 13, 06, 08. I still do enjoy pes 14 to some extent since the locomotion still kinda feels more responsive in that game compared to pes 21.
Anyway, tldr; these are my opinion ofcourse. Others might like the graphics, gameplay and the decision to go full online, which is fine.
I just personally don't like all these changes. But I will still give the game a chance once it's released of course.
