I trust Konami full, that this is not the game we`ll get in September or October this year. Just an online test. Let`s wait till July when the announcement is comming. That`s what I wrote. Doesn`t it showed up full?

Fifa also has the surge effect of the crowd after goals, as characterised by fans of clubs such as Sunderland. I remember a Middlesbrough fan once describing it as the 'Silly Sunderland Surge'. Perhaps a cynical take but the fact remains that it's in the game.

I wouldn't mind that in PES but mostly I want an end to the entire crowd staying until the final whistle of a 6-0 home defeat.

Saw this too. Made me laugh. I've said before that I don't think their terrible marketing here will actually impact sales, but I say this with no experience of marketing. What's your view?

My thinking is that it goes above all those roles. Like, it's not hard to decide to put out a tweet, or decide on the wording, and just do it. So either you've got relevant employees just twiddling their thumbs, or you've got executives higher up who won't give them the green light. I think it's more likely to be the latter scenario, surely?

The absolute state of this. They've just all but confirmed it's the next PES game on their official communication channel. How do you not see this? Do you think the official PES Twitter account is letting everybody know about their new beta, promising improvements to various aspects of the beta for no good reason? They refer to "the game's official launch" on their website; they say "This game is currently under development". They pose the question for the player, "Will my data be carried over to the officially released product?" They answer "No. Unfortunately, none of the data from this test will be carried over."

What game, what launch, what is being developed, what officially released product in the future, carried over to what?

If you still can't see that this beta – early code, buggy, unrepresentative – is a version of what is to come, at this point, you are wilfully blind.

Standard caveats: it could be improved so much by release that it's actually a good game; there are things in this beta that I even like; the graphical fidelity will clearly be much improved; we can plausibly expect certain button commands and gameplay features to be reintroduced; game modes may well be re-worked.

Whatever it is, it doesn't look very promising. It looks nothing like a game which been in development for 2 years.
I was hoping that at least it will be different from 2021, as i didn't liked PES 2018-21 series.
 
I love how they just repeated the original statement that was sent to gaming websites. Like there was no thought of "maybe our statement was too vague and misleading and we should clear up the confusion in the player base", they just assume people are ignorant. Is it just incompetence or is the statement intentionally vague, because you can look at it both ways, if they came out and said it was a 70% complete build which is what I strongly suspect there would be a revolt, so they just say "changed and improved" to keep all possibilites on the table.
 
Well, I would say that we are not far away from one year delay ... that they will not release PES 2022, or it will come out in January 2022.
 
I still have absolutely no idea what the big argument is for the last 40 pages or so. It's a version of PES 22 still under development and it will be slightly or wildly different in a month or two as they're still working on it. By definition, it will be a different version of the game even if they only change one variable.

It could be get better, it could get even worse. Some days maybe good, some days maybe shit if Gattuso has anything to do with it.

Yeah I love that in FIFA, one of my favourite visual features.

Well you'll need to be more specific if you want to be a good Mystic Meg.

"This is not what we'll get" is compatible with a number of outcomes, including those which pretty much all of us here believe: e.g., that the final release will look much better graphically, have some gameplay improvements, etc.

I mean that there will be a big graphical improvement, even if the gameplay aren't changing really, the animations and graphic will improve very much. That's what I mean.

Ah well if that's what you mean, then most people posting here would agree with you, I think.

And the worry is regarding gameplay: if that doesn't really change much, then it is bad.

Some people here might disagree about how much the animations will change, from this beta to the final release.

It’s great to see the attention to detail but let’s hope sitting watching bots move around at half time has not compromised something far more important. What I mean to say is, these are nice to have but would be secondary in a ground up development schedule………bells and whistles could even be provided in an update post release, they need to invest every ounce of time and money in the gameplay experience and overall functionality of the product.

It’s infuriating when you hear of compromised time to improve defensive AI or spacial awareness because 100k and 2 weeks went on something like this. As I say, it looks fabulous, but I’m praying all these great touches are not in there to gloss over the poor gameplay.

I`m a beliver of them who say that this is the mobile version, because it does look like Dream League Soccer. And it was easier to implement in this test, than the nex gen version. I don`t really know if I want this gameplay to change very much. I think it`s realistic... nothing for the MyClub players, but for me who loves the realism, I don`t find it so bad.
 
Speaking of gameplay mechanics, one thing that has been brought up is R2 to sprint. I'm all for it if it means more nuance to sprinting. FIFA does this, or tries to anyway. If it's a simple button swap then it's useless.

Ideally, by now, we should have players be able to walk, jog slowly, jog fast, sprint and full sprint. But we don't. Still the same 3 speed mechanic it has been for decades.

I would also hope for them to actually rework the passing system so your player isn't stuck in 2 directions when receiving the pass. It's very archaic and outdated by now. The game feels on-rails largely because of it. Especially egregious for through passes down the wing, sometimes you want your players to sprint towards the ball so it doesn't leave the pitch, but you want him to turn immediately after trapping it. You end up jogging very slowly towards the ball and losing possession to the defender because of the archaic passing system. Some assistance would be nice.

well, i read you latest comment now. sure it will graphically improve! thats not the point, i guess. most of us want an improvement in gameplay, modes and atmosphere, the better graphics are a given!

edit: when i wrote "most of us", it was just a feeling. i can only speak for myself but i sense (sixth sense style: "i see dead video games" ;) ) the majority is looking for gameplay, modes and atmosphere!

I`m sure it will be a big improvement. Let`s just wait and drink some tea. If it`s going to be bad, we don`t need to buy it and continue playing Pes 19/20/21 :D

Okay but what does that mean in practice? You think there are two completely separate games, from what I can see:
  1. a mobile game, ported to console and used for this test only
  2. a next-gen game (it will be cross-gen though I think, so this is already misleading) that we've yet to see anything of
And you're saying the beta is 1 not 2. If that's the case, then I completely disagree. There's no evidence for 1, and there's good evidence for 2. The mere fact of the mobile UI elements (which they've been using for a few years in the console version), the bad graphics (which everyone agrees will improve), and the ring under the players – these together do not make good evidence that it's "a mobile game".

Not when you consider what has been written about over many pages here – all the extra additions (stadium announcer, cutscenes, etc), new control schemes, pad explainers, the wording of the Konami website; the fact 'pes22' is in one of the URLs that takes you to their site; the fact they're posting about it on the official channels; the fact that it clearly has more depth already than a mobile game; the fact that their survey asks us to make direct comparisons not to the mobile game but to the last console release. Etc.

Really, at this point, if you still think there are two entirely separate games and this is not an early version of what we'll get on release, then there is no convincing you. It's staring you in the face.

Well that's consistent with it being the main console game already, just an earlier version.

You can't have your "SEE! I TOLD YOU SO!" moment later on if you predict all outcomes. This has been a noticeable problem with all the iT'S JuSt a mObIlE GaMe responses – complete vagueness when you probe what people mean by it. Because they don't really understand what they mean; they're just expressing a dim, deluded hope that what they played in the beta is unrelated to what comes next.

What ever we get one thing I take away from this test is I really hope they abolish these damn screen fade/replays/screen fade delays after every damn foul. Fuck me is it tedious & stifling to the flow and pace of the gameplay experience as a whole. At least on FIFA it's seamless and its an instant skip.

On PS4 there's at least there's this really awkward delay when the ball goes out of play for a throw which is also a recipe for restlessness and tedium.
 
Yes I think, it`s the mobile game, as a console port, because they can test the servers and in the same time, continue developing on the real game. The Graphics, the whole game we saw there wasn`t what we will receive in the end. I won`t say that it will be the best game ever or that it will look 100% of the 2020 teaser, but it will defenitly look much better than this. I won`t asume that the gameplay will change much, but the presentation, atmosphere and so on, will be a lot better. Just wait. :) @janguv

The new animations between in-play/out-of-play are nice. The ball boys, the players collecting the ball, the keepers etc. I hope it stays that way. I expect it'll be a next-gen only thing though, and if people are playing cross-gen online, you'll get the normal fades and replays while the pitch state reloads.

I feel like this must be a troll :LOL:

If you say that you don't think the gameplay will change much and that the beta is just a mobile port, you are saying there are two games – a mobile port version and a console version – and the only difference between them will be graphical fidelity and extras.

You could just as well maintain that there's one game, at that point.

I don't think you've really thought it through. But it also makes you prediction impossible to disprove, because whatever the end-result you will see it as confirming what you predicted lol.
