eFootball (All Platforms)

I have actually been thinking about this topic. And yes it is a decline for old school football gaming fans.

But I don't know if you heard the news about Pique's Kings League. 15 Million views on Twitch and 90000 in Camp Nou for the final four. And basically what he does is a version of quicker, fast paced football as kids know it from todays games. He even added Cards that teams can use that for example can grant you an immediate penalty. And of course each team has one famous Star Player like Kun Aguero or Ronaldinho (basically the legend like in most MyTeams)

So apparently seeing this number, there is a generation liking something totally different about football than we do. I feel old now.
I feel old, and I'm only 38.

I had to look up the event and I just don't get the appeal. I guess it's safe to say Pique is totally on board with what Coinami are doing with Efootball. At the end of the day, it's a huge money generator for Pique and his investors. Isn't he partnered with Coinami? If so, I can definitely see Efootball sponsoring similar events like this.

Konami opened a new main studios called konami Osaka to be the main studios dedicated to the development of games so they did not have this untill now? What a shame

Do you guys think they are developing master league from the ground up or is it just going to be a copy paste from pes 19

Yeah if they don't fix the regen problem the youth academy problem and the transfer market then they shouldn't bother releasing it

I heard that during Coinami's Efootball European open tournament, the majority of the participants were on mobile. There was even a pie chart showcasing how mobile players outnumber those on pc and console.

This really doesn't make that much sense to me their initial plan was to have cross play between all platforms for some sort of global esports league. So they used the unreal engine to facilitate that. And basically just released Pes Lite as Efootball. I don't really get why they removed offline completely but maybe it was to force people to play dream team but even that has gone stale now. Speaking of offline has anyone tried to have an offline trial match against superstar AI the game is unplayable and is basically just a shoulder charge and interception simulator.

It doesn't make a lot of sense on a gaming level, but from a business perspective, it does. They are getting more people to play this game and buy coins. No matter what happens with offline modes, dream team will forever be the foundation of this game. It's an integral part of their business model. There are many factors here that are at play here with what is happening right now with Efootball.

When a company is consumed with it's own mismanagement, incompetence, internal strife, bad decisions, and a lack of innovation, then it's only a matter of time before it affects the quality of their product. This speaks to the company as a whole and how they operate. Just look at what they did to Silent Hills, That was one the best things to come out of that company and they said "nope".

Then you have other factors that don't really have much to do with PES itself, but more to do with the changing market facilitated by the growing popularity of online gaming, esports, and EA's FUT which all operate within the online gaming sphere. It's gotten so big that you have licensed clubs creating teams of ambassadors representing them in esports tournaments. Coinami's response to all of this was to make Efootball a F2P game and cater to mobile players.

Adding that the PES saga (not mobile) gave more losses than gains itself
In business it's a coup de grace,
It was deciding not to make games for consoles because of the brutal expense against benefits or Combine development with mobile
Speaking as a businessman, I prefer the 2nd a thousand times

The game has the most terrible and amatuerish menu wich screams "low budget indie game" as soon as you press "x".

I miss even the CGI intro we used to have during the golden era. Such a charm.

The game is also an empty mess and 100% based around the crap "build your team" online Mode wich I hate.

I personally never understood the appeal of such mode specially when so many have a team full of stars already. Its so silly to see a team wiith Neymar, Benzema, Messi, all the Best in one team. No realistic transferings and no real challenge on building a strong team.

But despite all these issues, I dind find the game gameplay wise bad. Its not bad at all.

I'm back on playing a football game after many months. I restarted out of curiosity and I have to say Im having fun.

I like the movement on the ball, defintely better than we used to have during Fox Engine wich felt very limited in terms of direcions. It feels more 360 movement than ever before.

The New movement on the ball animations have more tight amd soft touchs when dribbling wich expand the possibilites. I Just need to learn some skill movements on the right stick. The movement on the ball could be Just a bit quicker and easier to get fouled. Fouls have been lacking. It makes so much difference as it gives time for players to move into position and keep the team in shape thus more tatical.

The fact that I am able to beat assisted players with manual passing Speaks volume and its so satisfying.

I also find the defence side much more well composed, no nonsense gap between midfild and the defence line and using L2 to make more sideway moves to close spaces is really useful, lots of good blockin passes animations. The R1 for second teammate pressure is interesting as well, but sometimes it picks the wrong players wich is expected.

From what I remember, pes2019 demo had such good ballphysics, rolling on the field with much variety. They should stick with that.

Its very unfortunate that theres little ambition from Konami both on content and tech wise.

The base is good. It would be a dream of they ported to UE5 and incomporated New technologies with good off-line content and well worked AI. But we will never see that.

Sorry for interrupting, but i feel that the only focus now, is money from gatcha/lootboxes/microtransactions.

Easy money, with the lowest cost at everything, production, content, promotion budgets.

I feel that even the esports direction, has been toned down in favour of pure money from in house lootboxes mechanics.

Do you remember the 2019-2020 era. Full of E-Sports promotion content, The Project Eleven, the PES League, the eFootball League, the Matchday, or were prelude to a new scene of a League of Legends like set up.

Even in their social media, it was everywhere, that PES Leagues with real life eSports teams, still remember those 3vs3 woth the guys of Arsenal, Monaco and CSKA Moscow pro-players.

They were everywhere and everyday in their social media, for a period.

I am sure the COVID pandemic and regional lock downs, put a hiatus on that project, but even now that the rest video games are restoring to the preCOVID era, with remote events, or physical presence events.

But from KONAMIs, eFootball Production team, there is nothing so intense, as it used to be.

Even those events in the Japanese YT channel, you must search deep in the algorithm, only to spot them in first place.

So i believe that esports "Crème de la crème" project, is now also archived.

The focus is for a mobile+cross-platform engaging gatcha game, with mobile focus as the priority.
They resumed those eSports competitions, they are currently running the eFootball Championship Pro as well as the Coppa eFootball Italia. You can watch these events on their Youtube channel:

Arsenal and bayern might be next apparently there's more deals to be announced
Bayern is unlikely as they renewed the deal with KONAMI last year.

Genuine question but why didn't they just separate the online and offline games like call of duty does
Exactly. Some like COD, like prefer Tarkov...

So where's the football game for people that actually like football and want to play football? NOT just online card game against toxic guys with 99 rated superhumans in every position.

Of course there is an audience for people that want to play a football sim. Some guys like COD's unrealistic hyper nonsense and some like the realism of Tarkov or Arma.

Both cater to different audiences and both can survive and turn a profit.

So, why is no games company trying to cater for purists? I guess someone will...eventually.
